There is nothing that touches the human being like this piece of music. I played it just about everyday after I lost my 39 year old son in 2021. It put something back into my soul.
There is nothing sadder than losing a child, my deepest sympathies. How wonderful to have found comfort in this beautiful song by Jenkins. What a blessing to have souls so sensitive that they touch our soul.
I love this tune. It save my life one night when i was a truck driver. The burst of ...... energy almost at the end woke me up from driving whilst tired.. All involed in making this tune I love you all as I am still here caring for my family. You all are awesome.
My wife bought me the CD when it first came out and we saw it performed live on Worcester Cathedral about 5 years ago. We've played it at family funerals several times. Prayers for you Val and your sad loss. I lost a beautiful brother to Covid in Jan '21. Hosanna in Excelsis.
I chose this piece of music to be played at the funeral of my mum and dad. I think it's beyond beautiful and showcases the amazing cello. I love this piece.
God put this song in the composers heart to see what he would do with it. Someday, we will hear an orchestra and choir of angels perform this work, all to the glory of our creator.
i hope you’re doing well susan. i’m sorry about your loss. this is one of my favourite songs and i’m really glad it brings you some sort of peace. may he rest in peace, as well.
First time I heard this today, im 55 ex forces seen some bad things in my time , n im sitting crying like a 5 year old how bloody amazing is this piece , to be able to reduce a big lump like me to a wreck .thank you Mr Jenkins Sir .
I agree Kate from Scotland I was going to pick this for my daughters funeral a few weeks ago she died of a brain tumour aged 28 this piece of music makes me cry 😢
There is an intimate story of a person who lost a loved one over a year ago in the comments. The sadness and emptiness she felt for her loss. But when you read what she experienced as she was driving and heard this song- her beautiful story brings me to tears of joy. She somehow managed to explain the pain she was feeling and the simple beauty of her surroundings and hearing this song that surrounds us every day that sometimes we miss. Thank you for sharing your beautiful experience. It is God's gift that music can bridge the gap of finality and reality yet bring you peace.
Too moving to put into words , beyond words , spiritual as if written by God himself . It washes over me and I am enthralled and captivated with tears of joy . Beautiful . Yet these simple words of expression and appreciation are still not enough . Thank you .
I suffered as a child from being exposed to levels of ignorance ,brutality and bullying that I know realise that were perpetrated by people who were expected to protect me from. But as a child of Woking class parents who rejected this type high fluting nonsense what can we expect?.
My sentiments totally, food for the soul. I also watched the angelic Watch Hayley Westenra, had me in floods of tears. Can't get enough of this. I feel as if I am being cleansed.
I had the honor of performing this whole mass in 2018 as part of a high school honors choir that was invited to join a local master chorus. This movement had me in tears both nights we performed it. Still my best choral experience that I will remember for the rest of my life.
As soon as I hear this I'll think of my lovely Mum who passed away in July 2017. She would have loved this sort of music and other music including Madame Butterfly, Maria Callas, Nat King Cole and opera music. I'm sure she is aware of me, what I'm up to and that I will come face to face with her again when I go. All of you reading this -when you die, there cannot be a 'nothing'. I'm sure you will be still aware of 'something' and meet family and friends who have already passed on.
@@judiklettenmeijer854But we can't be 100% certain. You might be right and we don't re-unite with loved ones -but then again we may do. We'll only find out when we die.
This is the most evocative music I have ever heard, as funeral celebrant I use it for every funeral and it is hard not to shed a tear when I hear it. I had the pleasure only a few weeks ago to soo Karl Jenkins perform this music accompanied by Manchester Choral Society - pure magic
You haven't heard much music if this is the most evocative music you've ever heard. I'm a classically trained musician and I will tell you that this music is considered to be TERRIBLE by the music community. Cheesy, predictable, boring, cringe-worthy. Mozart would be so pissed off if he heard how terrible music has gotten. Real classical music that is current is a reflection of what is happening in art and society, as well as a continuation of the trajectory that Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Wagner, Schöenberg Cage, and so on. This piece of music is for non-cerebral people.
As we are in Holy Week nothing brings the emotions together better than this beautiful song. It expresses the beauty, pain and the total human experience to another level- that with our Lord, in such a way that touches and revives and stirs our souls. Thank you for this incredible performance Mr Jenkins and the many performers that made it so special.
So sorry folks but once again I return to this sublimely moving score, yes tears do frequent me when I listen to this so so peaceful and emotive!, reminds me of the ones I have lost over the years!. Karl a big thank you, magnificent

Transcendentedly beautiful. This is why we listen to music - it's power to transport, to give in, to be inspired. Echoes of the sublime Arvo Part whose Spiegel im Spiegel has to be one of the finest contemporary compositions ever.
