    out of the 3 videos I watched , only yours helped me succeed , I was trying to add plane then slice , but that only left me with the rest of the model and a surface 😂 , your method is effective and well explained

    Another way to do this same thing, without actually cutting out any part of the model itself with the 3D plane is to use bisect cut. You enter edit mode, select the entire object, perform a bisect cut where you want it. Then, while the new cut is still highlighted, press H to hide just that line. You then select a single vertex on one of the two separated models and press L to select that whole separated section. Press ALT+H to reveal the line and then perform your P separation by Selection. Then you just fill the hole with F on the border of the two separated parts. This method doesn't work well unless you're doing clean lines though. Curved surfaces are much easier to do via cuts with planes rather than the bisect tool.

    Great tutorial. Would love to see how to then add registration for those newly separated pieces too, or even how to split something like a helmet and add a lip to one side that magnets can be put in.

      it is quite easy, you model dovels, put them inside model and when you cut it nikko's way, before moving parts away you do boolean difference on one part and union on other.

      This would be awesome. I only have an Ender 3 v2 at the moment and would like to learn something like this to separate full helmets to have a separate back plat that can be held by velcro/magnets .

    Would you hollow it out or print solid?

  • @moalabs
    @moalabs 2 года назад +2

    as I understand you have to solidify plane to make boolean cut, yes? so there is always material loss in model, but you can make in very, very thin, like 0.01mm?

    very intuitive! but it's a little hard to learn blender. what about solidworks or autocad or fusion360? which one is better for building gears and airplane models?

    This may be a stupid question, but how do you get the different cut apart objects separated by color like at the beginning of the video?

    Weird problem, I’m splitting a Batman cowl into 4 pieces, when I slice them into 4 at the select difference stage 3 of the 4 parts vanish, does it not work for cross sections?

    My gun model I downloaded is complex and has internal stuff like bullets and a magazine. When I separate them by click P and loose parts in edit mode. It separates into 474 objects. How do I combine in a way that I just want the outside part only, disregarding the internal.

    Hello!
    Excuse my ignorance Nikko, how often is renewal for the subscription? I get that it's only £10 a month but does the subscription require an annual payment to receive that price?
    Went to subscribe the other day but refuse to enter personal details into ANY site that asks for my details before giving me the details I need to make a decision - maybe I missed the info?
    Thanks in advance if you answer 👍

      No need for annual payment to get that price.
