- One of the most beautiful songs ever. I had posted this in 2007, but it was pulled by YT and that along with other "contraband" led to my temporary extinction. Now I see that the audio police are allowing it, so even though there are now many other postings of it, I thought I'd re-post my video. BTW, thanks to all my subscribers and visitors for your wonderful comments on all my videos.
Love this one! Rita’s voice is is infectious to me,it’s so beautiful ❤2024
Rita, you are so Loved by so many of us fans. I've loved All your songs since " day one". I'm 76 now and cherish every song by you and Kris also. May God continue to Bless you and your family ALWAYS 🙏❤️
A glorious and glamarous singer. I love to listen to her songs for many reasons.
One of my all time favorite song. Rita is beautiful with an enchanting and wonderful voice.
My favourite "Rita" song. Sad and relatable.
Felicitaciones.rita..desde.argentina..bellas.canciones❤
Where did our real music go? This was real music, from the 70's and nothing today can compare to it. I spent my twenties during that time, and there were true musical artists then.
I think that all the time. Mostly what we get now is noise. Oh, my!
I couldn't agree more.
I continue to go back to the music of the 70s on youtube or other sources. My favorite.
Mary Shaw hey let's build a time machine and go back to the 70's and stay there whse with me!!!!!!
OK...I have a lot to do that I never finished, so I'm in...back to the 70s, music and all else. No electronics, etc.
Nobody can sing as beautifully as this lass.
I LOVE THIS SONG:):) I COULD LISTEN TO IT ALL DAY!!!! AND NIGHT!!!! AND NEVER EVER GET TIRED OF LISTENING TO IT:) ITS PERFECTION!
Rita is as beautiful today as she was in her twenties. I love her voice and this song is just incredible. All the best to you Rita.
Lovely voice from a lovely lady ❤
Beautiful lady, beautiful voice. They don't make em like this anymore!
You guys in the US are very lucky if you've seen Rita in concert, here in Australia we don't get to see the likes of talent like this, I would've liked to have met Rita I think she is one of the most beautiful women I have seen and her voice melts my soul.
So to all that have see her, treasure what you have, you are lucky.
myfeeling4you Rita & I went to the same high school together. She is such a sweet person, & she got to make it to our 50th high school reunion. We are all so proud of her & her beautiful singing. Did you hear her sister, Priscilla got shot by her husband last fall. It was sooo awful!
best love song ive ever heard
Her voice is something so special...very female and haunting. Just love her.
This song is spectacular and is only one of many of Rita's emotional hits. Leave it here so I can listen often.
yes pls❤
Sad, but so beautiful. I love this song.
One of the most haunting songs I've ever heard...It touches me deeply...if you have ever Been In Love and know how it can hurt...this song will resonate with you....
Sweet,sweet song !
Add her to the list of great artists from the seventies
Back when the singer made the song come alive not the hype machine.Songs that just took their time and you went on that journey with them.
Hermosa canción de Rita, hermosa ella también.
a beautiful song simply beautiful
"Letting go does not mean giving up, it is a form of selfless love."
Thanks! I have been listening to this song over the years. And it still feels as fresh as the first time I heard it!
beautiful song
I worshipped her from afar...saw her in concert several times---she had a self-containment that was uniquely hers--a kind of class, but without snobbishness.I always felt the men in the music scene back in the day were rather shabby -- not up to her level...and she wore the jeans and other 60s regalia in a very elegant way--no one ever looked as she did. She's still a true beauty.
If your a recording artist please go back to songs like this . Rita was hot as hell during the 70’s and early 80’s hit after hit!
The message here is universal. It is easier to leave while you are both in love. Who will leave first? Slightly selfish, maybe? but understandable with a chequered romantic history.Great song.
My febeburit song
first listened to this song when I was about 12 - I am now 43 and still love it ♥ what a beautiful singer & lady xxx
They couldn't put the radio right because it's got valves in it. Those ones you had to fiddle with the nobs. Rita Coolidge in a word wonderful! Thank you for sharing...
all her songs seems so filled with nostalgy, I also think this song is special

Wow I have not heard this song since I was in school in the 1970s...they don't make 'em like this anymore!
Too many times I've seen the rose die on the vine
Somebody's heart gets broken, yeah, and usually it's mine
I don't wanna take the chance of being hurt again
Love it! Not a screw up!
Love the pic of her at 1:32 and her black boots look so lovely worn with blue jeans and a nice pair of socks.

Belíssima canção
ONE OF THE DELTA LADYS GREATEST SONGS:):):):)
What a babe!
The ORIGINAL commercial release was by Sager in 1977 on her eponymously titled album. Allen released his version in1979 on "I Could Have Been A Sailor", same year as Coolidge. Sager and Allen had a a productive songwriting partnership, including "I'd rather Leave....","Don't Cry Out Loud" and 1981 Oscar winner, "Arthurs Theme" (Co written with Christopher Cross). As for the nuance I refer to: I'm talking about "never gonna end" vs "never meant to end" That funny taste on your lips? It's egg..
simplemente hermoso
You mean tubes. Yes, electronics were not like today. Thanks for your comment.
Okd radio sets used to have valves I'm sure. maybe they called them something else in USA still beautiful song glad they got it tuned in in time.
Yep
perhaps one of the songs GOD has created and through men it is has materialized.
@MMMLifestyle I'd have to agree with that. :) Thanks for visiting my channel.
@pinkandjefflynne Thank you. BTW, I love ELO and think Jeff Lynne is a musical genius.
You should post that this as karoke for those that is NOT looking to sing along...
Lindas músicas que eternizaram!
yep, I agree. Cant ever accuse Carole of singing with power, lol.
Still don't like Coolidge's glides, change of feel, swing etc. I like the rawness, vulnerability of Sager's version (the first release, 1977). Hey, she wrote it, after all! But wtf, versions are sometimes better. Joe Cocker's versions of "little help from my friends" or "She came in through the bathroom window". On this occasion, I prefer Sager's or Allen's versions. But hey, songwriters get the royalties. Good song. regardless.
@kk3jst Thanks very much. Are you a ham?
I like this version better than Peter Allens version. A hurting song though.
Best way to go .. before it turn's nasty
Well, I guess we'll just agree to disagree. What you see as "screwing with" I see as improving.
not a ham. was considering being one a few years ago. an old man i knew had k3jst many years ago. best regards.
I guess with that kind of attitude, no tracks would be covered. By anybody. Ever. Bit narrow minded, wouldn't you say? No, probably you wouldn't.
dis iz bre how i feel bout ma bf atm :/ xoxoxo
Go check the original....Carole Bayer Sager. This is a very pale imitation.
Funny, I though Sager screwed the pooch on her version, The ORIGINAL was Peter Allen and this was his telling his wife he was gay, talk about losing a crucial nuance.
this song was on a tv advert years ago for a drink driving campaign featuring a couple in a mk1 ford escort crashing the driver had been drinking killing his girl friend
Mural, if you bothered to actually read my comment ,you might have noted that I enthusiastically endorsed covers. I just don't like coolidges version. Simple matter of personal preference.
What are you smokin?
not a PATCH on the original by Carole Bayer Sager. Rita trashes the melody and the lyric to lose a crucial nuance. Good songs dont need screwing with
Rita trashes the melody. I mean by that she sings with power and sustains the dramatic notes.
