The tones that the other sirens use, but in the case of the newer and older controllers, used a prerecorded windup that would play upon activation. After the recording plays the tone generator would kick in and run the siren in pulse steady tone in either 1 KHz for the older ones or 575 Hz for the newer ones. In the case of this one they actually programmed the tone generator to do the windup (sounds like it peaked at around 800 Hz or so) and switch to pulse afterwards. They could program it to peak at 575 Hz, but it's ATI so...
Regarding the batteries, all ATI sirens are DC powered and run on batteries. They charge the batteries either with grid power, as is the case with this one, or using solar panels. This siren happens to still have its original cabinet arrangement. Prior to around 2004 all ATI sirens had a seperate battery box. They integrated the battery compartment into the main cabinet on later units. They did replace the boards inside the upper cabinet at some point though. What's odd with their system is they replaced some of the controllers on the sirens outright, cabinets and all, while others like this one kept its cabinets and was internally upgraded. What a strange system. 🤔

I remember the system Sarnia used before this. The ACA Alertronic 6000s. This spot used to have one before 2002. Used to go off during our baseball games in the early 90s.

Nice! Speaking of new controllers you should try the Point Edward ATI since it had its controls replaced in recent years I wonder if it also has this weird wind up too.

ATI HPSS-32 sound sounds like a ASC E-Class activation
