Here's a weekly test of Hancock County, KY's, siren system which is conducted on Fridays at Noon, Central. Last Summer, I figured I'd go record another one of their other wonky ATIs.
This one is near a water tank on Hawesville-Easton Road near an area or community known as "Boling Chapel"? Anyways, Google has no idea where it's at, and nor did I. This area is heavily forested and there really isn't much here aside a few houses plopped here and there...maybe a church if you're lucky. Cell phone coverage kinda sucks so...good luck on not getting lost on the windy back-roads. My only leads were a web article and a similarly-named cemetery which gave me a smaller area to search for.
When I found this on satellite, I really wasn't sure this was even a siren. There was no Streetview either but when a free Friday came, I took a chance and went to it anyway. There's also a third one in the county but there's no places to park unless you want to park on the muddy shoulder which on that rainy day...wasn't going to happen.
Enjoy, and as always comment, like, and subscribe for more. Thanks!

Despite it being an ATI and having that dreadful noise before activating, the tone is honestly pretty awesome.
If only ATI was a respectable company.
_The initial "beep" from the ATI siren (7300 hz, I believe) is to prepare the speakers to the high intensity of the sound before activating the signal._
no one respects it because they say it's cheap
1 like for ATI
GZ El Erizo Electrico I thought 7000
@@goldenzeroeh9573 They don't need to be "prepared for the sound intensity", that is not how any sort of electronic speakers work.
@@goldenzeroeh9573 We have normal HPSS32 in Israel making the same sound you hear in this video but in a wail. And there is no beep in our HPSS32
I love the look of this siren. It looks so cool in black, and the horns have a nice profile in its "lattice" frame.
Yeah, they’re very rare which I find really cool! They’re basically a better Vortex.
@@MoldySireni think they are pretty much the same. No collector rings. Just different sound types
When the squelch in the beginning is louder that the actual siren, you have a problem

The woop sound like the voice evac on the fire alarm panel
Kinda does
Agreed
Oh you mean a simplex 2906-9151 horn strobe?
JC Johnson no the fire alarm panel that is a voice evacuation system using speaker strobs
Yeah sounds like EST voice evac kind of. EST whoop is higher pitched, but same pattern
By the time this siren warns the people 90 degrees to the right, they'll be in the sky.
Love the ATI FSK tones! Also the HPSS sounds epic
This siren is no longer in production. Don't believe me, go to ATI's website.
TheJakeman789 They were discontinued last year, as I had mentioned in a previous comment.

ATI FSK is terrifying.
It is cool
This thing again! And it still runs whoop tone!
It's a different one. Same area; different siren.
@@DSRX100 oh.
STILL, SAME MODEL
@@DSRX100 imagine if that did a Fast Whoop that would by awesome but very funny right? LOL
Awesome! In April, I’d like to record one of the HPSS-32’s in my area. They do the strange Modulator-esque Yelp Wail tone. The city usually tests them for 3 minutes annually on the first Saturday of April, as I’m interested to hear one of these. How loud are they? Also did some research and found that ATI quietly discontinued these and the short-lived HPSS-32R last year.
Don't record. Don't waste camera space. Don't fill your camera with garbage.
TheJakeman789 shut up
@@TheJakeman789 ATIs aren’t even that bad. LRAD is something to be worried about
ATI HPSS-16R also has a chime sound
All ATIs do lmfao
I feel like ati just looked at the ACA alertronic 5000 pictures and were like
“Let’s make that but 2 horns”
Why doesn't it just rotate completely instead of just stopping at certain points
No it's not because that just because of how they program it
Me neither
because the wires will snap
Shut up annoying
@@nationalrobloxtrollingdose2046 the wires will not snap. You can see that the siren can in fact rotate. It just does not
This would be very chilling as a tone for a nuclear attack
Why does the FSK tone sound like that? I have never heard one like that before! And I’ve always wondered why these sirens have to rotate back to its original place once it done sounding off unless it’s already in that spot when it stops sounding
It's just an ATI thing
Great video.
Awesome!
Awesome video! Do you you have any photos of the controller?
Sort of, I don't think I have any on this one, but I have one or two of the Roseville one.
@@DSRX100 Nice. I wonder if they use the same controller with modular amps(like the two I have) as other old ATIs.
Why does it not rotate
Dan I wish I was there
Love it!
The delay between each whoop is very short - which is - to me - a disadvantage in case of a real threat if multiple sirens went at once, since people will think it is a multiple sirens activation rather than recognizing it early as a whoop signal
It's just a way this siren has been setup. It's acting as though it's doing a voice message.
@@DSRX100 By voice message you mean the whoop delay itself ?
If that's true then my point still stands based on my expectation X)
But if it was done this way only as a test then that's a relief :)
@@aliultimate009 No I was just talking about the rotation being a bit weird, not the delay.
@@DSRX100 aha ~~~.
Doesn't it sound like it uses Whelen speaker drivers?
An awesome video! The full whoop is awesome!
I think we have one of these in either our town or the next one over.
I always thought it was a ATI HPSS was a *REALLY REALLY* old whelen
I'm going to record a Whelen at Middle Tennessee State University tomorrow. About how loud are they compared to a 12 port siren? (2001, STH10, etc) Great Video!
How big of a Whelen?
@@AmericanSirenProductions I decided not to go since other things came up.
ATI HPPS: aw i have collector rings
collector rings: ill broke your wires
ATI HPPS: no
collector rings: okay
Your right under that thing
HEY I HAD A DREAM OF THIS BUILDING AND there was that same siren there
You mean the WTC Fire alarm system voice evac?
Why does it not rotate during the sounding like the federal signal and wheelen do
I'm guessing it's been programmed this way.
Why is it not rotating during the whoop
Nice!
What editor do you use
I use different applications for different things. I typically use MAGIX Vegas for most of my basic video editing, Adobe Audition for audio editing, and Adobe After Effects for the intro graphics. I might use Premiere on some stuff, but I prefer Vegas since I really like how it handles audio.
DSRX100: Ok thanks for the info!
Why does it stop going off for a couple seconds while it rotates?
When your city can't afford a Vortex R4.
Afford an ATI HPSS siren instead.
Sounds good
All it does is do like more than one whoop and face towards another direction. That is what it does.
