RUclips really isn't for the faint of heart. The amount of self doubt, imposter syndrome and feelings to quit have never been more prominent after a year of doing this grind. I recently hit 100 subscribers and I'm proud of the achievement. There's only 2 options so I wish everyone the best and keep pushing. This WILL become something. I believe in you

Your video is really a breath of fresh air!
It seems like everyone who talks about "RUclips is hard" has a million odd subscribers and has already made it.
I've recently posted my first video for my business channel, it took me way longer than I ever expected, and my perfectionism stopped me many time.
In the end after talking to some mentors, the consensus was that we are each our own worst critics and people will judge us whether they like or hate what we produce.
Thank you for being open, honest and real. By the end of your video, I think you've found your niche: you, being you 😊
20 years ago, reality TV was all that, these days I feel it's more interesting peeking into the life of someone who isn't a celebrity and is just doing "normal stuff" and talking about it.
We can all learn from each other and in a world which feels more and more superficial each year, it's great to see some people who are being themselves.
I've subscribed and look forward to following you journey. Glad I've found you before you become a celebrity 👌💫

This video is a testament to why we should all just post a RUclips video already. Hearing her share her emotions, and inner thoughts that many of us watching can relate to was very inspiring and motivating. We're so scared of posting an imperfect, embarassing video but yet it's that exact unpolished piece of digital bravery that would provide so much value to others just by it's mere existence. I literally almost (lol) visualized myself actually going through with posting my first video (gulp). I subscribed, and look forward to seeing you grow Jen!

A lot of these RUclips advice channels will try and tell you how easy being a RUclipsr is, but it's not easy at all. Especially in the beginning. My days are filled with so many late nights and early mornings because I still have to work a job while doing RUclips. I barely sleep, and I always feel drained. At the same time, there's no better feeling than living out your dream. Just make sure you are passionate about whatever it is you decide to do on RUclips because that is what's going to keep you going when times get hard, and in the end it'll all be worth it.

Hey, I’m not in a place to give direct advice, but I’d like to share some thoughts that might be helpful. It could be worth reevaluating your channel strategy. Is it based on your identity, or are you focusing on your audience? A strategy focused on the audience can be easier to navigate. Try defining who your audience is, and look into the problems they’re facing. For example, if your audience is students, many struggle with procrastination. You could create content exploring solutions for that, or document your own journey testing strategies and sharing the results.
Once you identify their pain points, start posting consistently-maybe one valuable video per week, or two if possible-for the next 3-4 months. Over time, if you find a solution that works, you can even turn it into a freebie to start building an email list. Keep going, stay focused, and good luck! ;)

I'm over 40, and an over-thinker and I was stuck for 2 months before I finally started. For anyone out there too stuck in their heads to start, there is no better time than now and "done is better than perfect".
Being real and yourself is a super-power. Not many people can do it or choose to do it. I am personally still struggling with finding my real voice and having candid conversations like the one you just had with us. I think I still come off too scripted and I'd like to be more relatable. Lean into this, because people need it, I certainly do :D
And kudos to you for being brave and vulnerable. It's not an easy feat, and to anyone that might leave you negative comments, they can simply go f themselves. Thank you Jen.

Starting over is tough, especially when the new direction is public like this. I’ll say this, no one I know watches my stuff (except people I send a video to for critique) . I’ve launched several company social and RUclips channels very successfully, doing your own is a bigger challenge and the desire to be better than other beginners because of experience is the actual impediment. Thank you for sharing your journey. I’m also starting out on my YT journey, I have not set-up my channel yet but will within the next couple of weeks. I’m probably going to start out faceless as I have little control over my environment at the moment. It will be a craft/art channel starting out as easy and resourceful craft projects as I am naturally interested in this topic and I noticed one of the main things holding me back from crafting/art was the price tag associated with it. Another thing that I struggle with is putting myself out there authenticly while maintaining my privacy. I feel like that will not be as much of a concern with the faceless craft/art channel. Ultimate goal is to have multiple channels or one multifaceted channel and posting only when I feel inspired to do so and feel like I have value to provide because I have no interest in posting to satisfy an algorithm as I see so many content creators doing.

Having your niche is everything if you actually want views. I shot a video this past weekend and it had no direction at all but i still filmed until i could figure out what the purpose was. When it finally hit me i took the random clips and then shot 7 additional scenes to fill it out to make it cohesive.
I used to just pick up the camera and shoot and then release. Now i shoot and then figure out what value the video provides and who i can send it to or i don’t put it out. Not because there’s no value in getting things done but because i actually want people to get something out of it so they have to be able to find it.
    Great video!

My boss actually encourages me to post and grow my social media accounts and I hadn't had the guts to really do it until now. I think what I will do is shoot for my biggest dream/goal - I do want to be a full time creator (hard/vulnerable for me to admit!) so if for some reason this job doesn't work out for me, I would seek something like it in the future. Thank you for sharing this honest video of struggles.
I can relate to everything you said.
I find myself hiding behind editing.
I also find myself getting exhausted unconsciously putting on a performance for the camera.
These are two areas I am working on.
Putting yourself out there online is a journey - I am reminding myself to celebrate the very small wins and just move forward.

Back in my childhood ADHD and dyslyxia did not exist, Add to these Diabeties type 2 and dementure or that old timers disease :-). But these are all but bumps in the road... I shifted into Pinterest and enjoying it a lot better but realizing that no matter WHAT you start online, it's gonna take a very long time to grow an audience. In most cases. And if you don't have an audience then you ain't gettin sales. If you want to make money fast, get an actual job that pays hourly. Online business is not for everyone.

If you wanna grow, maybe work on this. Nowadays people have short attention span especially because of short type content, so it takes more mental energy to stick on your videos and actually be focused. I hope this will help for your future creation. Best of luck.

Starting your channel can be really tough if you don't plan everything ahead. I knew I couldn't afford to waste months trying to get noticed by just a handful of people. Instead of spending months to get few hundred subscribers, I found how to get organic growth immediately (I am using a lot of Famester of course). Ever since I started using this tool, my channel blew up and I realized that people tend to focus on numbers when searching for content. Having a low subscriber count often means being overlooked, even if your content is top-notch...

Perhaps you need to be consistent. I saw you have a short from Jan 2023. And just videos all over the place just like me. Try posting 5days a week for 4 weeks straight and see how much better your channel will improve. I do not like editing, but i want the skill so i am doing it myself and after posting randomly every couple of months in the past few years. I decided 2 weeks ago to do a challenge and post 5days a week for 4 weeks straight because many people are doing that to kickstart their channel and get to monetization stage first then set a schedule for themselves to post 2-3 days a week.

    • @jennavarx
      @jennavarx  2 месяца назад

Thanks so much for the suggestion! Yes you're right - my videos have been all over the place! I did give posting every day a try back in January 2023 and unfortunately it was too much for me. I'm giving 3 videos per week a try. Hopefully I can stay consistent with it, I know that consistency is my biggest downfall so this time around I'm committed and going all in! Good luck to you on your journey! Would love to hear back about how doing 5 days a week works - let us know!
