I had the same feeling except it was with Robot Patrick. Cause of how dark and ominous the arena was and how I had such a hard time trying to fight him. For weeks, maybe months I had actually been so scared of him because I had no idea at the time I was supposed to use the bubble bowl instead of running towards him when he got dizzy. But once I had finally beat him I felt SO relieved and now I only see him as a freaky excuse of a joke.
I really dislike the way robot sandy looks in the remake, it's really watered down and child friendly compared to the soulless, somewhat menacing one shown here.
Has also to do with the camera. The remake has more of a bird view camera angle while the original edition more of a ground level camera. More intimidating for the player.

I kinda want to get a PS2 so I can play this and Simpsons hit & run. I know they remastered battle for bikini bottom (which I own) but it would still be cool to play the original
What I like about the original version it the audience was on your side cheering you on and had signs booing the robot. While the remake the audience just has glow sticks
I played the Remake, and theres a few differences. For one the World itself is smaller in scale. Like this Boss Fight, the ring is a lot smaller compared to the Original. Also the Fish Head Anchorman is no longer there :\ . But other than that it’s still pretty much the same game

Real talk, I never knew the fish head was called johnny until I played this game.
We all never knew he even had a name. He was always known as the realistic fish head announcer.
I don't have this game or it's remake, but I must say the music for this boss is absolutely phenomenal!
