No I completely agree with you. The lighting in the original made everything seem darker. And the art style reminiscent of seasons 1-3 also made him seem more threatening. I’m very disappointed in this game’s treatment of the original game. Luckily the community can mod the pc version to bring this stuff back.
Here's the thing. In the original. It's a terrifying robot I'm guessing for rehydrated they. Tried to make the robot of Patrick. A robot of Patrick. If that makes sense
There wasnt an announcement for him. It did show him trying to kill squidward, and spongebob mentioned that the robot would try to eat them. And, with the location and music, it definetly isnt made to be a friendly area, or boss fight.
The only problem With Robot Patrick is that his spinning animation is very slow and in the Original he was spinning very fast I don't know why they did that it triggers me
It think it was more look more like what Robo Patrick is, My vet was they rushed the game and the animations dont show much smooth movement as it did in the original
HowlNHart Gamer the game is definitely rushed. Sandy’s missing a few jumping animations, the boxes didn’t even land for me in both of my playthroughs, and you can’t even re-fight any of the bosses to get the 100% ending. Not to mention the atrocity that is the robot Squidward “boss fight.” This game definitely needed more time to cook.
@@MZMDev The Robo-Squidward thing is what bothered me the most about Rehydrated. I was so hyped to be able to fight him as an actual boss, but no...instead they shoehorned him into some crappy multiplayer mode.

1:52 I'm pretty cofident that the famous "day one patch" will fix most of the issues. This battle looks pretty dissapointing on this version. But I don't think it will fix this part of the cutscene, Sandy doesn't look angry at all! It kind removes the feeling she had when Spongebob was frozen in the original.
This boss fight is good but I kinda miss the way it looked in the original with the black pants and the teeth it looked like an evil Patrick this one not so much.
The original didn't tell you were stuff was landing. That's like the only difference that makes the fight easier. This Patrick is a lot faster than in the original
They added “do-not-stand-here” markers for all of the flying goop attacks, and the bubble bowl doesn’t vanish when it hits the acid; in the old game you pretty much had to hit Robot Patrick dead on with the bowling ball, but now you can roll it. It looks visually cooler, but it eases the difficulty greatly. And that’s not even going into the weirdness of Robo-Patrick always falling down in the center, which feels...off somehow. Now I’m more concerned about the wonky hit boxes for Robot Sandy’s clothesline.
Is it me, or does Robo Patricks spin attack seem a lot... slower and easier to doge in Rehydrated than it did in the originally BFBB? Also come to think of it Robo Patrick also seems less creepy looking too.
In defense of Rehydrated,a lot of kids got scared by the original version of Robot Patrick,so developers deciced to make some changes like making his spinning attack easier, adding more colors to him,and removing certain details to help the whole fight overall look less creepy. It's Spongebob Squarepants after all.
The Patrick boss fight looks better on the ps2 version ( which is weird because this version is in 4K ) and it’s also way more intimidating. In this remake the Patrick robot spins around like a little girl, I’m glad that they kept that intense music in the background but I just can’t take this fight seriously as much I did in the original, this fight looks like something you’ll play on a handheld device & it’s also way easier than it was in the original
yeah, i have to agree. not to sound like a nostalgia tard, just speaking from a kinda critical standpoint, basically everything about the boss fight in the original was better. it was harder, like the bubble bowl would pop upon hitting the acid stuff but now it just rolls on, and robo patrick always falls in the centre after spinning in this remake. i remember being genuinely terrified of this battle when i was little, and it still manages to intimidate me years later despite beating it many times. robo patrick's design gave a spookier vibe, the ice cream drops during his spin were unpredictable so i always had to be on my toes, and the atmosphere was just so unsettling. the rising tension and frightening environment made an awesome boss battle that still holds up great to this day, in my opinion.
Quick question: is there a way the game lets you refight any of the bosses of your choice? Or in order to fight them again do you have to play through a new file and get back to it? But I do see where all of you are coming from, I’m not the biggest fan of the big red markers either. I also do like how in the original he spins faster and doesn’t always stop spinning in the center of the arena.
RJ gonna be real, even though I didn’t play the original, I’m still quite enjoying myself with Rehydrated. But I there are a few issues I’ve been having with it, being that you can’t refight the cool boss battles (even if they’re inferior to the original) and the Multiplayer is pretty bad. Other things are pretty minor besides maybe a few glitches I may have had, but noting too gamebreaking to me. I think boss refights (and potentially an option to disable the red markers for higher difficulty) are the thing they really need to fix in an update.
RJ oh, and I forgot to mention that with Robot Sandy’s double spring attack in the last phase, I think the hitbox is messed up, in the original you could dodge it by jumping between the two springs, but the only way I could dodge it in the original is by doing a very precisely timed double jump, that’s the only boss flaw I’d say is objectively worse
Am i the only one who finds the spin attack better in this version. While it does not look as cool, Robo Patrick had horrible aim in the original. And you could literally avoid the whole attack by standing still
I don't see anyone mentioning the hot goo attack, spit, and ice breath have the same animation, unlike the original And it was much better telegraphing
This level and music in Rehydrated is really good. But as for robot Patrick, not so much. The original robot Patrick was alot better and more menacing than this.
This boss fight really sucks. I am stuck on stage 2 of the fight. The blocks are not close enough for me to safely hit the robot. In your video you touch the goo and bounce to safety. I touch the goo and bounce to more goo and instant death. I can't get past the the 2nd stage. I have just instantly died 6 times in a row when I hit the robot on phase 2. I am really frustrated. The instant deaths in this game are really cheap and frustrating. This is no polished mario game!
Personally I prefer this Robo Patrick battle over the original as Robo Patrick's design looks better in my opinion as the original looked more silver than pink and the altered music is better than the original for me.
The Original fight had a bit more charm, and seemed like an actual threat- could just be nostalgia talking though.

Making the robots scary, actually intimidating for a kid, fits the game. I mean, the fish head announced sandy as a giant murderous robot-

1:53 damn, I wish they made sandy’s pupils shrink like in the original. She doesn’t seem as pissed off.
