I prefer the original Spongebot personally. There was an uncannyness to it, with him looking just like regular Spongebob with some metal textures and robotic movements. The new one is just an expressionless bot with even less detailed animations, but it's fine because it's an obvious robot.
A few years late, but you said it best. Rewatching the Robo-Patrick fight gave me that unnerving feeling as a kid but the new one just lacks that same feeling mostly because of the model being different from the regular Patrick model. I guess a higher budget can surprisingly lose some of the appeal of the original at times
The difference 1. King Jellyfish Classic: None Remake: Goes to the Shower after damaged then spawning jellyfishes 2.Robo Sandy Classic: Accuracy is less Remake: Better Accuracy. Only made easier by the incoming attack on the floor. 3. Prawn Classic: He's not inside the barrier Remake: The barrier opens after his attack. 4. Robo Patrick Classic: Spins fast and throws drops from his ice cream too much and not go to center before became dizzy. Ice breath is fast but no too much Remake: Spins slow then spits ice cream drops but went to the center and get dizzy. Ice breath is slow,delayed, but too many. I really hate the red marks where the drops will land. 5. Flying Dutchman Classic: Shoots fast "normal size" lasers to his eyes, move, then breath green fire to it's path Remake: Lasers are now bigger but slower. But he will now make horizontal flames on each sides on his back while fire breathing. Makes better. *666.* Robo SpongeBob (SpongeBob Steelpants in Remake) Classic: Karate chops are slow a little bit, and my Favorite, "KYA-HAR-HAR" everytime the "Kah-Rah-Tae" rhyme appears. Robo Plankton shoots too many lasers fast, and become more dangerous. That's what I want.... Remake: Karate chops are more faster but the platform blinks in every attack. Even the "KYA-HAR-HAR" one, those platforms blinks. And it only now heard it once. Thats so dissapointing.... Also, Robo Plankton now shootl less and slow lasers. Awwww... The Commentator fish: Classic: always appear in Battle.(Kinda annoying for others but I love him) They now made him sometimes appear in Remake. Men. Did the makers annoyed from him? I also noticed Squidward's Reaction to Robo SpongeBob Classic: Mad and Blaming Spongebinge. Wooooowwww Remake: Worried that SpongeBob will Kill him in the future
Also to add, when you finish fighting the bosses. You can’t refight them like you used to in the original. Making the bosses levels actually empty and unplayable. Hopefully an update to fix this will eventually come soon
For Robo Patrick, their are markers on the ground, indicating where his ice cream will land. Same for all The bosses that have projectiles that land, but Robo Patrick is the most noticeable.
The remake's graphics are great, but its missing the feeling of the OG. I think it's best exhibited in the Robo-Sandy boss battle. The movements is too rapid and the new sound effects don't have the feel of being in a major boss battle
Something I really hate about the remake is that you can’t replay the boss fights. In the original, you could. From what I remember. Now I get it, they’re already destroyed, but still. I like fighting the bosses in this game, they’re fun. By bosses I mean Sandy, Patrick and Spongebot Steelpants.
these boss battles are being compared from ugly yet smoother to pretty yet... dull. you can actually see a better/badder difference from bosses like Sandy and SpongeBot. who else likes the original more than the Rehydrated version.
There are so many problems in rehydrated. So.... I don't know how anyone could think that rehydrated is better than the original. The only thing that's better is the graphics and a little bit with the character models, but that's not saying much.

frankly, the only changes I'm fully satisfied with are the darker backgrounds and more metallic looks of the robots. But they made them at the expense of making the immediate areas a lot brighter and the motions a lot choppier.
I mean I like rehydrated and with the brighter colors I’m allowed to watch my iPad with because if some places are dark and I’m watching iPad in the dark I can’t watch videos in the dark because it will hurt my eyes so imagine that.
I feel like no one is talking about this but after finishing the main story in Rehydrated, I tried to revisit the boss battles (the big robot ones) and there was nothing there but an empty stage. I remember in the OG game, you could go back and fight the big robots whenever you wanted after you’ve gotten the spatula from that battle, but in Rehydrated, I haven’t been able to do that. I’m not sure if it’s just a bug I’m experiencing (because I’ve only tried to go back once and because of how no one is talking about this) or if was an something that was taken out of Rehydrated completely, which would kinda suck...

Well Mermaid Man’s real voice actor died years ago so that would have been hard. Mr. Krabs they should have, but I think they wanted all the voice acting in the game to be 100% archived.
It is to appeal to new audiences, at the time of the ps2 the platformers were not very well done and they did not balance the difficulty very well, now it seems that the point is to make it easy and not so balanced
Early 2000-boss fight in all games is stronger and annoying.It really frustrating for kids to finish the boss battle. We in 21st century-boss battle in games are kid friendly and short timing progress.that is the main reason remastered boss fight take a short time to finish.

the choppiness and textures, the darkness of the background ( patrick fight) in the original was done perfectly, in the rehydrated version, they fixed the textures, but ruined the dark atmosphere, and slowed patricks spinning, which I hate. the new textures of patrick robot are just horrible. he's not as scary and cool anymore.

mermaid man's voice in both are painfully bad it just doesn't sound right. I thought the remake would fix that and replace that voice, but no they ignored that voice and let stay bad
I think what really strikes me is just how bad the new sound effects are. They sound like they came from a stock sound library and are flaccid and lame compared to the satisfying original sound effects. There's just a lot of missing sound effects in the boss fights too which makes them unusually quiet. Also they used alternative takes for some of the in game dialogue which were obviously left unused in the original for a reason. 1:03:00 for example is just so cringe.
I still like all of the bosses in the original and rehydrated but prawn i didn't like prawn in the original beacuase the force field wasn't even a force field is siply was just falling snowflakes that prevented you from doing the bubble bowl and the floor was loud as hell in the original if you played the original on max volume the floor would sound like your watching a earrape video with max volume on youtube

all the remakes are amazing
the choppiness and textures, the darkness of the background ( patrick fight) in the original was done perfectly, in the rehydrated version, they fixed the textures, but ruined the dark atmosphere, and slowed patricks spinning, which I hate. the new textures of patrick robot are just horrible. he's not as scary and cool anymore.
I only just learned about this games existence yesterday,apparently it came out a little more than a month before I was born so it kinda skipped my attention-But the remake actually looks very cool and now I'm kinda obsessed 🥺

Idk about you but the Flying Dutchman looked REALLY weird compared to the remake
My ratings of The og bosses: 1: King jellyfish: Hes great and idk abt The attacks but he isnt transparent.. 2: Robo sandy: The battle is very long but theres cool posters 3: Prawn: Ok He has problems.. The forcefield is just falling snowflakes and the floor sounds like alot of barking dogs… 4: Robo patrick: Hes cool. Thats all I have to say bc their my top 4 King jellyfish: 6/10 Sandy: 5/10 Prawn: -1000/10 Robo patrick: 10/10

His skin in the og is gray and his robot opener thingys barely shown and he looks terrifying and the new robo patrick is just amazing (no hate to og patrick)

Mermaid man looks like an action figure in the remake
mermaid man's voice in both are painfully bad it just doesn't sound right.
I thought the remake would fix that and replace that voice, but no they ignored that voice and let stay bad
plus the inside of his mouth that you see when he opens it lacks depth
The Poseidome is so much better in the original.
I always found it weird how Robo-Plankton calls Robo-Spongebob his bride...but I guess it makes sense since robots are technically genderless...

I love the show when I was a kid
In the robo patrick fight you really see the new artstyle which is way more catroony. i think thats why it lost the Uncannyness feeling.
they nailed Barnacle Boy voice, why couldn't at least get close with mermaid man's voice

The rehydrated is much better because there's a sunlight
I think what really strikes me is just how bad the new sound effects are. They sound like they came from a stock sound library and are flaccid and lame compared to the satisfying original sound effects. There's just a lot of missing sound effects in the boss fights too which makes them unusually quiet. Also they used alternative takes for some of the in game dialogue which were obviously left unused in the original for a reason. 1:03:00 for example is just so cringe.
Some of the things the announcer says are missing in the remake, I wonder why?
I still like all of the bosses in the original and rehydrated but prawn i didn't like prawn in the original beacuase the force field wasn't even a force field is siply was just falling snowflakes that prevented you from doing the bubble bowl and the floor was loud as hell in the original if you played the original on max volume the floor would sound like your watching a earrape video with max volume on youtube
