Both sides seemed really new and I was cringing at the mistakes but still a really good battle.
i was playing iceni in this battle, i cannot speak for the others but i only had about 40 hours in the game when this took place, still learning, figured if apollo posted this i would be able to learn some things
@@lg-zodiac2531 it was a lovely battle sorry I was a bit harsh. Honestly what I can recommend is not bring druidic nobles as frontline infantry their only morale units and only have half a unit. Also you probably shouldn't throw your most elite units in first and save them all till the end. Otherwise you did great sir!
@@taethegreat6607 No! Be as harsh as you want! If I want to learn the game and be better i need to learn to take and accept critism. What isn't known is that was my first time playing iceni, recently because of the wintersales i spent 15 dollars on dlc and expansions, more or less i was trying out the units for the first time. And thank you for your feedback!

Why is it that the only Total War players to have great micro play Total War Warhammer? Seriously, if some of these guys want to win they should play some Star Craft to up their micro and map awareness. May not be perfect since Total Wars have a lot more unit delay when clicking to move, but it'd still probably help.

one was killed at the end, one i had armenia hit with those archers that got charged when they went for the fireballs with the cav, one i think just got focused down by slingers

The amount of people Pixelated Apollo has seen burnt, lose their head, crushed by boulders, stab by spears, sliced by swords, or fall off a wall is way more than the average person should see.😀 After years of Total War He sees people die and doesn’t even mention it. I watched a person being burnt in this video and he continued talking about tactics. The guy was in serious pain trying to survive! Great video PA!

Very epic battle, almost as epic as your most epic battle ever: the 10k special. That was your first video I ever watched and I still think that video is the GOAT of battles. Anyone who liked this battle should check out the 10k battle, this one reminded me of it.
Why does the best faction in the game always manage to lose in these replays.

Loved the introduction and the cinematic shots at the beginning. the small introduction of the siege made me feel as though we were entering into a story. keep up the entertaining work my dude!
yeah,holding archer when its out of ammo is gold,because one time i have to fall back but there is choke point in the middle of my path,so i sent my archers and they defend so well againts a horde of army and NOT Breaking,
i'm so surprised archer hold well in that choke point and so i retreated my men safely
your archers might of been fresh and the horde might of been exhausted

You should do another Crusade video, I really enjoyed the ones you have posted in the past.
That Roman player on the right during the final assault... dear god. Am I missing something? While tackling the initial barbarian line, after losing his archers, he just sent two units at a time against Oathsworn over and over again... because of the piecemeal attacks, his units were just eaten up one by one. Then, once he finally was able to advance up the slope after taking way too many casualties, he blobbed up his troops for the fiery balls of justice. This resulted in an entire Praetorian century's demise... if not for the troops lost by these means, it looked like his line wouldn't have collapsed and forced his allies to rush and pull his weight at the end. I feel like I must not be understanding something...
One of these days maybe we'll actually see Rome in the hands of somewhat competent players.
The main mistakes the attackers made were
A. Not being as aggressive as they should've been
B. Sacrificing their archers
The main mistakes the defenders made was
A. Iceni brought druidic nobles as mainline infantry
B. They often threw their most elite units in first
C. Tylis's gen wasn't well used and could've gotten 100+ kills
D. Too many spears in my opinion, also probably should've charged before going into shieldwall

Napkin map based on the kill/loss counts at the end: the traps, towers, friendly fire and such resulted in 1300 Roman deaths that were not accounted for in the defending team's kill count. This was an amazing fight.
that burning tower strat is good. was used a few times against me and if it looks like im going to lose it then no one can have it. edit - after watching the video I notice that it was me as Tylis haha, wanted to see how well the tribal spam would hold up against 3 roman armies and held pretty well to my surprise. I did think of falling back and should've but wanted to make a stand at the walls, played it poorly, tried a few things and team was okay with it and was fun. Thanks for sharing it! Arverni and Iceni the mvps for winnig us the game

Roman right flank guy is a sleeping pill. He missed so many opportunities for flanking / surrounding Tylis units and instead gave them a frontal fight instead.
The barbarians kinda sucked here not to be mean, the romans also suck for fumbling the bag they looked like they were gonna win...
Well. After the first half of that battle thought it was going to be a dull walkover, then it properly picked up pace akin to those ‘fiery balls’. Deserved respect to those Celtic dudes.

Really close battle at the end! A great miracle and inspiration! 36:46 Firey balls of justice turned the fight around, and the cav charges soon after that. Defedners keep the land with around 64 infantry, and 16 cav from the General. Roman War Machine was destroyed, and 1 depleted unit fled. I want more seiges like theses.
We need more Roman vs Barbarian battles 110%. It never gets old and is always epic :)

The biggest reason not to throw archers away in melee, is moral, the healthier your army the more leadership

When I saw it was 3 Roman armies against 3 barbarian armies I thought to myself *thats going to be a automatic Roman victory* but the barbarian armies pulled it off somehow. I think it was due to the Roman army players may being a bit underexperienced.

At the start of the battle, both sides numbered 6000 men _exactly._
At the end of the battle, Celts had 427 men remaining,
while the Romans had 433 men remaining.
The difference is _five men._
Of the Roman 5567 Roman losses, hefty 1174 were arrow towers, friendly fire (traps?) and such.
Of the Celtic 5573 losses, mere 370 were likewise killed.
One could conclude that Apollo's notion of this settlement being tough to capture is supported by battle statistics.
