    Great review, appreciate the technical details on some menu items. Especially focus point display and the proper orientation while zoomed in.

    Did not realize the sensor clean mode has improved but I did notice my workflow has gotten faster because I'm not removing dust spots in post. :p
    I have not enabled the shutter to cover the sensor when camera is turned off because I'm a little leery of how well the shutter can handle the stuff that can end up on the sensor. So glad hear there has been improvements to the sensor cleaning.
    I went straight to electronic shutter, so I did not notice that the mechanical shutter settings were like the A7C.
    I have heard that the A7Siii also allows functionality of the camera settings while the buffer is clearing.
    The focus frame is something I definitely could use in certain situations.
    Thank you for posting this information. Very useful. :)
    Update: Just checked on my A7Siii and it also has the focus frame. :)

    I love the focus point display. NOW ... if Adobe et al would just learn how to read/display this focus point during post!

    • @JeremySmithPhotography
      @JeremySmithPhotography  3 года назад

      Yes I agree! I have no idea why Adobe doesn't update their software to be able to read focus point data... it shouldn't be very hard for them to implement.

      Now you will have to upgrade to the A1 so you won't have to deal with it. 🙃

    Great review and tips, im considering buying the a1 switching from a7iii and watend to know how is the noise levels on the a1 if im shooting events and sometimes need to go up to iso 4000 and shooting raw? Also is there a major difference when using a v90 cards vs cfexpress type a? Thanks

    How to you turn on the setting do the exsposur works with the flash trigger

    • @JeremySmithPhotography

      Menu - Shooting Menu (red tab) - Shooting Display (option 9) - Live View Display Set. - Live View Display. I recommend adding this to your My Menu so it's easier to navigate to.

    I was wondering about the sensor clean in my A1. Mine does not make any noise and I can feel no vibration. How can I tell if it is working?

    • @JeremySmithPhotography
      @JeremySmithPhotography  2 года назад +1

      Sounds normal, keep in mind that the action you see at 1:37 is how it worked on older Sony bodies. The A1 uses an ultrasonic sensor cleaner that is completely silent in operation.

    Great! What is the way to shoot black and white with a1 similar quality like film simulation in Fujifilm cameras for film-like photos?

    • @JeremySmithPhotography
      @JeremySmithPhotography  3 года назад

      While Sony doesn't have film simulation modes there are different "creative looks". Go to the menu and the 3rd sub-menu (exposure/color) then choose option 6 color/tone, then creative look.

    Everytime I look at a photo in the a1 it seems like it instantly zooms all the way into the photo instead of slowly going into the image. You know how to fix this?

    • @JeremySmithPhotography
      @JeremySmithPhotography  2 года назад +1

      Go to Menu - Playback - Magnification - Enlarge Initial Mag. and change that setting to Previous Mag. Once you do this you are able to go to playback and use the zoom buttons to set the zoom where you want it. Exit playback and it will remember where you set the zoom so that in the future it will zoom to your preferred spot. Hence the option name "Previous Mag". 😉

    I have noticed some changes with the battery situation. I have several 3rd party batteries. When I use them the camera warns me I have a non sony battery. I accepted that but the battery ran out very quickly. I put the same battery into my A7R3 where it showed 88% and operated correctly. Surely this is not reasonable.

    • @JeremySmithPhotography
      @JeremySmithPhotography  3 года назад

      That's very odd, I haven't seen this issue but I haven't tried any aftermarket batteries.

    • @phillipmarsh7200
      @phillipmarsh7200 3 года назад

      @@JeremySmithPhotography I have several. I know they are sometimes not as good as Sony's. Interestingly the camera does not complain about ones from Neewer but does for LeiFire. I have used non sony FW50 without any problems. I don't mind being reminded but I strongly object to Sony saying the battery is exhausted when it isnt.
