Honestly, I think it is amazing that Yan is sharing some of his tricks here. His productions are the main inspiration for me picking up techno production again after a 5 year break. He's the most consistently interesting producer out there right now, hands down.
Yan, I'd absolutely love to understand a little bit how you made the lead sounds in Toucan or Stinger? There is something about their low fi quality which I just can't get right! Any light on this would be greatly appreciated. :)
Some may ask why, what they should ask is, why not?
I'm asking how
The master strikes again, love it!
Really (!) quality content.
Thank you also for the work put into presentation, your format works really well - especially with the chain, the comments and the sketch in the end.
Awesome.
That sketch really showcased the sound back into Yan Cook's theme and how dynamic it can be. Excellent sketch, and I hope it can be produced into a track
WTF thats awsome, thats called sound design.
@Yann Cook, you are making a gift by sharing this, thank you. It both demistifies how techno sounds exist, and shows that it is a very complex work.
I NEED THIS ON SOUNDCLOUD OR SPOTIFY THIS IS LITERALLY RELEASE WORTHY OMG
Love the videos man, thanks for sharing!
Yeah, groovy.
crazy good man. your little sketch is banging hard
You are really making me up my sound design game! Thanks for the inspiration!
Really hyped, that you put our more tutorial content!
I'd love if you at some point could show some techniques on how you get this driving energy on tracks like Sand or Graphite.
I play them in almost every set do in Clubs or at Raves, really loving it
I just discovered you some days ago but I definitely love these videos and your music. It's so nice to get to know this side of techno!
Ok, wow - guess it's time to read the entire Ableton manual!
I loved it ! I will try this on my productions
The audio equivalent of alchemy
I just keep up coming back spacing on the end result
please! keeping doing it same way! (format videos) its awesome!
Thank you Yan for these tutorials, very happy to find your channel !
Ohhhh! So, this is how you designed the main riff in Prospect. Legendary. Thank you.
So tried the same thing and its vastly different. More great ideas from Yan.
Keep making these pls, very insightful and inspiring. Love to see more of these!

Awesome Yan 😀
Great content, keep it coming
Огромное спасибо!
Monsterrrrr 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Bomb!
Danke!
beatiful!
My attempt sounds like a giant frog, croaking in a cavern. Enjoyed attempting this though, recording my experiments to audio to see what I come up with. I've transposed all of the notes as high as possible and reduced the gain of the clap, got some soft high pitch Weird stuff going on now.
respect !
really enjoyed and I love that everything you're using is stock from the software, lets you know how powerful Ableton is!
👌👌👌
Kick is verbmongus, mate.
That's FM synthesis! I think Ableton should include this chain in their presets ! / Clap -> Bass Mutation /
It's not FM at all. More like Karplus-Strong.
@@barnabaskissr.402 Not too familiar with Karplus-Strong but I think the frequency shifter is adding the missing low frequencies, not so sure you can generate low frequencies from the frequency range of a clap with only Karplus-Strong. Can you? (don't know the answer for certain)
niceeeeee
You can do the same thing in hardware with a drum machine and a Bass Synth pedal. I have a Drumbrute running into a Bass Synth / compressor / fuzz box / Eventide H9 / Polymoon and I can make some similar noises. Although I suppose it's sillier than just using a 303 and the Eventide...
Слушай,очень круто.как то слушал сет кати рыбы,на один трек обратил внимание,как оказалось ваш с русланом,зацепило пипец.и посей день от вашего творчества в восторге)))
Well that was interesting. I love this kind of stuff. Seeing what is possible from unexpected sources with somewhat unexpected results. Very nice. One question though: For me it seems like you are using the bass like some sort of lead in your example. Is this typical or more common than I think (I'm not producing techno atm) or am I interpretating the example wrong.
Techno can be pretty abstract :)
omg love ya
Awesome content! could you do a tutorial on kick processing?
I'm thinking about it :)
2:25
Make this a track
Really nice!
Do you try to stay in key? I mean, you tune your clap before? or simply stay in key with the notes you play?
I don't really think about that, I do everything by ear, mostly.
amigo eres una vergotota
Sigue así mi bro
What it this kind of techno called? I would like to find more with this vibe
I would call it Raw Techno, maybe.
And you can listen to my tracks on Spotify :)
Yan Cook i ran out of your tracks ;(
you load the sample in the sampler ou drum rack ? or other things ?
Simpler
I just wonder how do you tune it in key!?
By ear )
Hi Yan, where do you find LFO MIDI please ?
Max for Live Essentials, as far as I remember.
@@YanCook thx, I found it but it was not Max MIDI Effect, juste Max Audio Effect. However I can do with it 👍🏼
U cool for this
🙌🏼
One water please.
Why do you put a limiter on the end? thanks:)
To keep the sound under a certain db level, and avoid peaking.
@@YanCook ah okay thanks is it best practice to put it on individual tracks? I was under the impression limiters were used at at the mastering stage
Your really something else man! Would love to see a vid of you creating an entire track step by step it would be brilliant
Бро, я залип на твои видосы, музон топчик, спасибо за вдохновение!
Фленжер может всё
Awesome man 👏
