I just finished replacing mine. I watched your video twice and the entire job done in 45 minutes!!! You saved me a small fortune. Thank you so very much.
I was going to take the Lesabre up to the shop and have them fix the window. Probably would have cost me a few hundred bucks. Then my lovely bride of forty some years reminded me that I, the man she married, am a man who is capable of fixing stuff myself (if I just work carefully and try not to get mad and try not to get frustrated and try not to lash out in blind rage and cuss and swear and break things). So I watched your excellent video and I was able to disassemble the door without breaking anything. The cable had broken on the old regulator. I ordered the replacement part from you rather than Jeff Bezos. I think it was $10 more, but I hate Amazon and even thinking of Bezos makes me want to lash out in blind rage and cuss and swear and break things). Plus I wanted to show appreciation for the effort you put into making the video. It took me about 40 minutes to put the new regulator in and I didn't break anything getting it back together and I didn't cuss even once (well maybe once or twice but it was under my breath and it was probably more of a speculative cuss rather than a full out scream of rage) and it works great. The old LeSabre used to belong to my Mom and Dad and it has some sentimental value for me. Makes me feel good to be able to fix things myself. It's empowering. Thanks for doing what you do.

I just fixed my father's window regulator in his 2005 Buick Lesabre, after it having been inoperable for half a year. Just put my new regulator/motor passenger side in no problems. Think someone else mentioned going ahead and getting both sides which is what I did as it wasn't that much more and neither regulator or motor on drivers side hasn't been changed since I have had the car. Really appreciative of this video and others from A1 auto

Did a 4-year auto mechanic apprenticeship way back when, lack of funds, spinal injury, some friends who own a repair shop mix 'em all together and it makes it a little tentative for me to attempt replacing a regulator. You weren't kidding when you said it's a defect in the 2000-2005 Lesabres. I've had seven different regulators go on my 2002 Lesabre. Usually it happens in the winter when the windows ice up, but this time - mid July. My friends who own the repair shop let me change it on their lot this time (seeing as I let them change the other 6). Right now, I'm not sure which has more rust on it - my Lesabre, or my dormant mechanical skills. I couldn't have done it without your video. You guys are pro class. I wish I could have had you as teachers when I was working in the service station. Appreciation factor is very LARGE for this video. Cheers !
Thanks so much for this great video. My window regulator broke on my 2001 Buick Lesabre Tuesday night when I went to roll it down. Heard the plastic snap and fall inside the door. Found your video Tuesday night and ordered a new regulator with the motor. Order arrived Thursday! Just replaced it and it works great! Thanks for making this job easy and saving me money! So happy with it that I'm going to replace the rear regulator making funny noises before it's completely gone!
I really appreciate the videos that you guys offered to help with the installs. Even if it's just for a recap for a job that I haven't done in a long time. Just really hate the cheap Dorman and other below par Chinese parts
Awesome step by step... I replaced the passenger window motor in my mom's 2000 LeSabre last year and then the window fell into the door two weeks ago. The dealer wanted $350 to change out the regulator. I bought a new one for $49 with a motor. Went in just like you said. It's amazing that GM uses such cheap plastic parts for the windows. The whole plastic lift mechanism was in four pieces in the bottom of the door. Perfect directions and I so appreciate your videos. She's 83 and on a fixed income. You saved her $300!!!

All I can is thanks... you guys saved me a ton of money. Both rear window cable assemblies failed on my '01 Buick Regal within weeks of each other. I purchased both regulators without motors (they were fine) and replaced them in a couple of hours. I figure I saved, between OEM parts and dealer labor, at least $800 thanks to this video. Awesome!
You may want to check the wire harness between the door and body of the car. Many times the wires can become frayed or broken when opening and shutting the door. Hope this helps you out.

The video helped tremendously. I just replaced the regulator/motor assy in my Dad's Buick Century. It was close. The century had two hidden bolts in the arm rest finger cup. Your video showed a different spot so I knew they were somewhere. What a piece of cake. Thanks!
Man, you just saved me HUNDREDS of $$ on my 02 LeSabre! Thank you!!!! The only things I will add to help others is: you need A LOT of force to unclip the door skin; I tried using a long screwdriver to pry, but it was bending the screwdriver. I ended up grabbing a pry bar and it worked good. Also, loosen the bolts on the window regulator to the clamps the actual glass slides into BEFORE putting the motor/regulator assembly into the door. Makes things a lot easier. And as the video said, make sure everything is BEHIND the inside of the glass ie closest to you. Excellent video. Going to spend the money I saved on more Ethereum :-)
Just finished replacing mine using this video. I have a 2005 Buick LeSabre. Pretty much the exact same car as in the video, down to the color. Took me a little longer to do it, as I normally like to study things as I go along (Geek alert!). But anyway, you saved me a lot of time and money, so THANKS SO MUCH! PS, I'd like to replace ALL the plastic fasteners inside the door. Where can I find them?
Thank you, I paid about $70 for a passenger regulator, and put it in less than an hour. I was surprised nothing broke, and how easy it was. I am an old man, two years ago believe it or not I had to pay $500 to have my driver side window regulator changed! I just had an operation, so I couldn't do it myself.
This part on the dealerships' website is about $183, the dealership wanted to charge me $500 to replace it. No thanks! If I were to take my car to the dealership for this repair for both regulators on the front of my car, the total cost would have been about $1,260. As it is, through you guys, the total cost is going to be about $108. I've got the right front regulator replaced, now I have to get the left front one replaced. Thank you very much for your videos and your prices!

Thx, the video helped save a lot of time getting the window back up. I saw that the top cable came loose on my regulator so temporarily I just pushed the window up into place and found out that the regulator will still lower the window if the button is pushed so I disconnected the button until I can get some warmer weather to work on it again. If you could these videos are really loud at the beginning and the instructional parts are very quiet. There's some really good software out there to clip the highs during your first part and then turn up the softer parts which is what we really want to hear well. Thx, Ben

Good job on the video, if I had thought to look for videos online when each of the back windows went out I could have saved the $400 the dealership charged for the first one. Second one I had them secure it in the up position with wire ties. Now I am replacing that window and the one that went out this morning (figures since it was 22 degrees out). With the way they break you must be making good sales on these parts.

Hi! I know most the comments here are years old, but I love to use your videos to work on my 2001! I have a question though; my motor is completely out and even using my hands to move the window completely up, it won’t budge about an inch away from the top. Any tips on getting all the way up to access the bolt?
Did you do it? I just picked up the piece and doing it tomorrow…. 4th time I’m doing it… poorly designed but at 156k miles…. I gotta keep my Buick running
Very helpful video, but with the wires all knotted up, there was no way I could raise the window. I think if I had cut all the wires off, I should have been able to disconnect the window as shown. Successful operation, but a bit more time consuming. Thanks!
You may want to inspect the window regulator and also the gear on the window motor to see if it's damaged. We carry new regulators on our website 1aauto.com with FREE SHIPPING in the lower 48 states. Hope this helps you out. 888-844-3393
Great video but what does one do if your window is locked in the lowest position and one can not get to both clamp screws. No the motor doesn't seem to work.
I love my Buick, it drives like a hot damn. If you take care of it, it will go over 250k miles. The problem is the electronics breakdown around the car!
hey great video.. was a big help.. unfortunately your microphone only picks up some of your audio. Your audio is terrible, but the video content is invaluable.. Thanks again.. two thumbs up!!

What if it still does not work after replacement? Is the driver door module maybe worn out as well? It just makes a click sound when I try to role a window down or up.
did you ever figure what the problem was with yours I have the same issue. I replaced it and checked it before putting the door cover back on and it was working then after I sealed it all up and plugged the panel back in the window button just makes a click noise and nothing happens. All the other windows work from the panel.
I replaced the regulator twice and it broke again for the 3rd time. Following the steps as you have done - but can't help thinking I'm doing something wrong.
You are doing nothing wrong. It is a poorly designed piece of equipment and whether you buy Official or not it will only last a few years (if you are lucky) with frequent usage.
I bought a heater/ac motor and fan from 1aAuto and there is zero support on getting the part replaced. I finally was able to pull the old part out. But it was so tight, i can get the new part in place. How do i do it?
Hello, i just replaced the driver side motor and regulator on my 2003 buick and now, all you can hear is a clicking sound but the regulator (the pulley) is not moving up or down. The window also is not secure onto the regulator. What else could be the problem? All other 3 windows work fine
You may want to inspect the cables, and window inside the door to see it there's something that jamming the cables, window or even the window regulator. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Question one window don’t go up and one don’t go down. The one that don’t go down just makes a clicking noise. Is that considered the regulator or motor? I’m curious to know so I know how to replace and fix it.
+Michael Shields Thanks for watching. If any of our viewers need to replace their window regulator we carry the one show in this video on our website. Here's a link to them. Any tips on making the front windows go up and down smoother? 2004 lesabre, just replaced regulator and it works great but even the other windows aren't very smooth. Sounds like it struggles a little to go up.
Thanks for the great video. We changed out the RF regulator on our 2000 LeSabre, but noticed a difference with the door panel. Instead of a screw in the middle of the panel, there were two clips behind the door pull area. Very difficult to get in there to pinch the clips. Wound up breaking a plastic link between the panel and the bracket for the clips. Must be an earlier design. A couple sheet metal screws and flat washers repaired it. Wondering if there is a special tool to get at those clips. Thanks again.
The window in my 1990 Lesabre (only 100k actual miles guys) stops about an inch from the top going up or down. On the way up it stops and I can hear clicking. How do I troubleshoot for which part is bad. Unfortunately the cut-aways in the door are smaller than the newer models so it's a bit difficult seeing what's going on.
My moms 2003 buick lesabare custom has a problem that the window falls down and motor won't move the window no more i believe is to replace it. And its on the right front passenger door.
Hello I have a Camry 2004 I have replaced the glass front passenger But the glue to Ilbt to melt down What is the best type of glue to piece And I live in the Middle East
So how specifically does one tell whether it is the motor or the regulator or both? I have an '04 lesabre where the passenger window struggles to come up. But I don't want to take anything off the door until I get a better idea what is going on, and can order parts in advance ready to go. I was wondering if maybe it is off track? I hear a bit of a squealing noise sometimes. Thanks.
+Texan1048 If it is slow, the window motor might be getting tired. Here is a link to the replacement window regulators with the motor on our website. Hope this helps you out. goo.gl/3uk4qw
I have a 2002 LeSabre. Would this video also apply with the passenger sided window? Mine wont go up but I can kinda hear the motor. AND my two back windows wont go down. help! lol
So what do you do if you have a window stuck down and you take it apart and can only move the window up about 2 inches by hand and then it gets stuck and wont go up or down and you cant get to the second bolt? Already tried lube.
+James Crawford Thanks for watching! The best thing is to have the new regulator ready to go, because you will have to cut the cable on the old part. Once the cable is cut the window will move freely, and you should be able to proceed with the repair! www.1aauto.com/1A/WindowRegulators/Buick/LeSabre/1AWRG00172?RUclips&CTA+Comment&QDMaZ2Cm0
I have the passenger window stuck where it won't show the second bolt also, I'm about to try to cut the cable and "hopefully" like you say it'll be freely moving!
I'm having an odd problem (just happened this morning), my front passenger window wont go back up. It came down all the way, no problem, but then got about half way up and stopped, and the motor's making a loud buzz (it's not a click, or a grind). I tried making it go down bit, and it did, then when I went to put it back up, it stopped again in the same spot and started buzzing, it seems like the window is getting stuck on something. Once I get the door panel off, what should I be looking for?
With the door panel off you will be able to tell, for example I currently have a 00 lesabre and the passenger side the motor jolts and has the power but the cable off the regulator has gotten all wadded up,on the driver side the motor does nothing it's shot so in my case it's the driver motor and pass regulator however you are absolutely wasting your time figuring out which is the problem I do not at all recommend on these cars trying to buy just a motor and putting on the old regulator or vice versa just buy the assembly that has new motor and reg together they are about $100 at local parts store or $40 on Amazon about $60 on partsgeek , seriously don't waste your time fighting with a wadded up regulator on a motor just change the whole thing youl be glad you did, these cars are not like others if you are familiar with changing window motors you will see what I mean when you get into it 😉
so i have a 2002 buick lesabre. when i installed a new regulator and motor, it only had the power to go down.the control module doesnt even make a clicking noise. i was wondering if it was at all possible to install the regulator then while thats already installed, connect the motor without power so the window doesnt come down?
You may want to test the power going to and from the switch with a test light or an ohm meter. The switch might be bad. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

The video helped tremendously. I just replaced the regulator/motor assy in my Dad's Buick Century. It was close. The century had two hidden bolts in the arm rest finger cup. Your video showed a different spot so I knew they were somewhere. What a piece of cake. Thanks!
Changed out both front window regulators using your video today. Very useful and step by step instruction. Thanks so much!!
Thank you for taking the time to make this detailed video. Helped me replace mine today.
+XT Camaro Thanks for checking us out. 1AAuto.com
Thanks guys
Excellent tutorial. Thanks!
Thank you so much! Saved me well over $100. Done in less than an hour!

Thx, Ben

Great video. Question: What is the black adhesive used to hold the plastic on the inside of the door. When I removed the plastic the black adhesive came off weird and I need to replace it. Thank you for your help
10/10, you are a champion sir! Thanks so much for posting this and the other videos. You are a life saver! My car window rolls up and down now thanks to you!

It worked! this video helped me out. I replaced the regulaor and motor on my 2000 Buick lesabre. worked like a charm. thank you for a great job.
Thanks for the video. Took 45 minutes to replace the regulator on my 2004 LeSabre.
I did manage to break a clip on the reflector and I was being careful. Other than that it was by the book, errr video!
Just got my new window regulator in from A1 auto good stuff you get what you pay for keep up the videos and thank you A1 auto

Good pricing for parts and very appreciative on the informative video.Part shipped on time with updated confirmation, I will definitely revisit site for future repairs and parts.
Thanks!! After watching your RUclips Presentation changing regulator was a snap!
Knowing where and when to remove the plastic parts, reflector, and where the bolts and nuts are and how to position the window to get to them saved me alot of mistakes. Thanks again for your service. Greg Edwardsville, IL
Great video with a link to the part(s)...subscribed to 1AAuto and bought the regulator. Keep it up and I won't shop with anybody else.
Thanks, it was a great help.
Are the regulators you sell more reliable than the OEM one's?
Just did it! Super easy tutorial. Saves me over $200

Yeah. Thats where I got mine too!
Good job on the video, if I had thought to look for videos online when each of the back windows went out I could have saved the $400 the dealership charged for the first one. Second one I had them secure it in the up position with wire ties. Now I am replacing that window and the one that went out this morning (figures since it was 22 degrees out). With the way they break you must be making good sales on these parts.
knew it would be simple after a short video.. thanks for the help, was much needed. saved me a few bucks

the video that shows you how to remove a window regulator was good but if the camera could have been a little bit more closer so what you were doing with the connections and so on other than that it was a great video appreciate you show me and it helped me very much

Hi! I know most the comments here are years old, but I love to use your videos to work on my 2001! I have a question though; my motor is completely out and even using my hands to move the window completely up, it won’t budge about an inch away from the top. Any tips on getting all the way up to access the bolt?
@bthor76 Thanks for checking us out. Have a great day! 1aauto.com
My window is stuck all the way down I think it will be a little harder but I’m going to tackle it in the morning
Thanks!
So helpful, I had replace all four of these on my LeSabre..
Ty guys so much

Great video but what does one do if your window is locked in the lowest position and one can not get to both clamp screws. No the motor doesn't seem to work.
I'm having the same problem on a 2004 Lesabre passenger front door can we get some help I'm stuck where I can't get to the second Bolt
I love my Buick, it drives like a hot damn. If you take care of it, it will go over 250k miles. The problem is the electronics breakdown around the car!
Great video. Can I suggest though getting a mic some times it is hard to hear because it sounds like your in a tunnel. Please keep p the great videos
superb job! your a lifesaver!
hey great video.. was a big help.. unfortunately your microphone only picks up some of your audio. Your audio is terrible, but the video content is invaluable.. Thanks again.. two thumbs up!!
Thank you for the feedback! +desirabledeals4u
THANX GUYS. You are so very helpful.
What do you do if the window is stuck all the way down? How can you get to the bolts to loose the pinch clamps on the window?
Very good video,,, never had any problem doing my own repairs. Thanks, Don
This was SUPER helpful! Thank you SO much!

It’s true. I’ve changed mine 4 times…. 5th time this weekend… I like driving with my window down lol😊
Is the rear window regulator disassembled the same
This really helped!

I have the same problem. Can you please explain in more detail how you fixed it?
All those plastic trim clips shattered taking the door panel off in 2024 😅
The window in my 1990 Lesabre (only 100k actual miles guys) stops about an inch from the top going up or down. On the way up it stops and I can hear clicking. How do I troubleshoot for which part is bad. Unfortunately the cut-aways in the door are smaller than the newer models so it's a bit difficult seeing what's going on.
Thanks for the video. My 2003 Buick Century window is off the track and seems impossible to get in the slot correctly. Any hints?
My moms 2003 buick lesabare custom has a problem that the window falls down and motor won't move the window no more i believe is to replace it. And its on the right front passenger door.
how often do you get a bad regulator? thnx
Hello
I have a Camry 2004
I have replaced the glass front passenger
But the glue to Ilbt to melt down
What is the best type of glue to piece
And I live in the Middle East
Thanks for checking us out. Have a great day! 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
AND my two back windows wont go down. help! lol
Yes it would be the same procedure on the other side of the vehicle. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
My mechanic charged $450 for one of these jobs. Next time I did it myself in about an hour. Unbelievable!
How to replace rear back seat to replace rear deck speakers
I'm having an odd problem (just happened this morning), my front passenger window wont go back up. It came down all the way, no problem, but then got about half way up and stopped, and the motor's making a loud buzz (it's not a click, or a grind). I tried making it go down bit, and it did, then when I went to put it back up, it stopped again in the same spot and started buzzing, it seems like the window is getting stuck on something. Once I get the door panel off, what should I be looking for?
we have them directly on our website through this link 1aauto.com/1A/Interior/Buick/LeSabre/1AIMX00174/586024/2005
made easy..thanx
+Tanner Key No problem. Thank you for watching. 1aauto.com 866-403-3393
How would you determine if its the regulator or the motor that has gone bad?
Fyi the year 2000 is different. It has two extra heavy clips in the center.
+Randomness The part in this video fits your application, and the install should be the same or similar. Buy this part on 1AAuto.com: 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
