At 1440p, you are gpu bound. It's a good test in the sense that you dont need to upgrade your cpu if you play in 1440. Put your money towards a better gpu if you are going to upgrade anything.

wouldn't make much sense to pair a non-gaming CPU to a gaming CPU. U265k vs 9700x would be the comparison to do. People who buys Ultra never buy those CPU primary for gaming, gaming is always secondary after workload stuff.
Dude, can you make 12400f againt different cpus? For example 13600k, 13700. Many people right now is having 12400f cpu in their pc and when question about upgrade rises there is no information does switching from 12400f to 7 13th gen worth it?
This a good test because the cpu can limit the fps if its not as strong. Even at 1440p the cpu is still being tested just not as much as 1080p because the graphics card can spit more frames at lower resolution and the cpu has to process it all
If you can get a 9800X3D then go with it as you can run 64000MT/s RAM with it and still maintain the 1:1:1 ratio. Personally, I care less about the 7800X3D due to it being neutered and locked.

I'd love to see some Assetto Corsa Competizione and DCS benchmarks for CPUs as they're way heavier than you might think CPU side, especially DCS. Also if you could do some proper OC to the 9800X3D and put it against the 7800X3D it would be feally interesting as one of the main features of the 9800X3D was the ability to OC.

Yeah low res/graphics tests are useful for demonstrating the maximum difference between the CPUs but tests like this are better for answering "is this upgrade a good use of my money?"
