Its HUGE advancement in terms of raw power of GPU's and instead of getting proportionate or at least positive improvements we have RT and poor optimization that are holding back the true potential of cards we have today. Take any ray traced title and you will not see drastic graphical improvements but you will see drastic performance drop for using it. Heck even AMD cannot run RT with any card and it used to go toe to toe with NVidia in raster perfomance until they introduced completely unnecessary thing in gaming..RT. RT, PT is a gimmick...and not a good one for that matter... Also 4K started with more than playable FPS back when 1080ti released..that's 4 generations back.

Nvidia can charge whatever they want for the 5090 too, because there are too many people that have non-gaming workloads that are gunning for this card. There is still a small group of GPU miner holdouts that are salivating for this card, and so are some deep pocketed MF'ers in the LLM community. Oh, and since the US wants to ban the full-powered version of the 5090 from going to China, there are folks that will buy these cards from European, NA, AUS, and JP markets and smuggle these into China. Obtaining a 5090 will be a badge of honor, but maybe one will be easy to find once the 6090 is about to be released.

So just because the 4090m is faster than the 3090 doesn't mean much because their specs are actually quite close unlike the 5090m and 4090

The BM Wukong numbers seem off. I have a 7800X3D and 4090 and play wukong in 1440p max settings. DLSS set to quality, frame generation off. I get 90-110 fps.

That 1440p in Alan wake can’t be right. I have have run that game on ultra with ray tracing on a 4080 super which is WAY less powerful and gotten more fps. 14900k too which is way slower than 9800x3d…. Seems weird.

I get over 60FPS on AW 2 with my 5800X3D and 7800XT. You just need to tweak the settings. It’s a real shame the devs didn’t include a in game benchmark for it. Also, this combo shouldn’t be played at anything less than 4K. If one is, they wasted their money.

So basically with path tracing you can get 100 fps at 1080p while with rasterization you can get 100 fps at 4K, both with Quality upscaling
This is the best setup you can possibly build in today's market and tbh its laughable. 4k-5k setup and it cant even run a modern game to fullest potential? No one going back to play these games 2-4 yrs from now to get their best experience.
What are you using to display the stats? Afterburner doesn't support 9800x3d.

I have have run that game on ultra with ray tracing on a 4080 super which is WAY less powerful and gotten more fps.
14900k too which is way slower than 9800x3d….

I get over 60FPS on AW 2 with my 5800X3D and 7800XT. You just need to tweak the settings. It’s a real shame the devs didn’t include a in game benchmark for it. Also, this combo shouldn’t be played at anything less than 4K. If one is, they wasted their money.
Even the people testing know the 4090 is a ripoff. That card should mainly be used for 4k or higher. Once I see 1080 I just scroll past.

Do people out there actually play in 4k max settings + ray-tracing on PC gaming? The demands beg for an expensive GPU. Do we really need any more than 1440p optimised settings in games? If you want 4k gaming so much (at a more affordable price) , just get a PS5 Pro + an OLED TV and call it a day.

@bambus158 If you got a 4070 Ti Super or better, then I'd say ray-tracing is sort-of achievable at playable frame rates (60 AT LEAST, 80+ PREFERABLY). If you're using an AMD graphics card, just forget about ray tracing.

@d1s1ike Well for CS2 at 1080p maybe 600+ FPS but definitely not always. And for PuBG it's like 300 FPS max, you won't get 600 FPS on PuBG, no matter which PC you have.
Have you tried unchecking GPU Power and Power Percent? You’ll see that the 1% Low and 0.1% Low FPS increase significantly on all CPUs.
