is it just me or is the opening riff to "a-tok-a" identical to "breed" by nirvana? bro, you're supposed to change it a little bit to avoid lawsuits ...
Yes, it is true. I'll explain myself a bit. I was a huge Nirvana fan back in middle school or so. Still am! Back in the summer of 2023, my musician's page in Taiwan was growing at a fast rate. I had to get some songs out there, and I had to make 10 songs within a few weeks so that I could have a full set list for my first show. While rushing to get these songs written, I must have pulled the "breed riff" from my subconscious. While it's in a different key, and the rhythm is just slightly different, it's almost identical. The song was the fan favorite at the show, so I decided to record it in the states. While recording, I discovered that my song was way too close to "breed". After some consideration, I decided not to change it. However, I added Nirvana to the writer's credit when it came to distribution, which means their team is aware of the song. They haven't specified how much of a cut they want from the song's revenue, but I'm totally fine with them taking as much as they want. Since I've given them ample credit in the song's distribution, they won't sue, but they can decide however much money they want from the song (if it ever makes any haha).
