It honestly wouldn't surprise me. Weird people hang around my (your) house (i.e. the Firelink Shrine) and they don't pay rent or nothing. They just squat (as ostensibly the Ashen One does). I mean, Sirris herself just pops in one day and decides to kick around on the steps. Having a Hollow jazz band decide they want to hold practice sessions in there would be par for the course (Undead like being near the First Flame as well).
If you succesfully finish quests from npc, they will give you the items they drop if you kill them naturally trough their questlines and when you finish a quest, their armor will be available from the handmaiden, so killing npc's isn't a must if complete the quests
They usually give you more if they die/ you kill them at the end of their questlines. Leonhard drops his Moonlight Crescent Sword if you kill him in Gwynevere's quarters.
Kill the shrine maiden, Andre, or Fire keeper is pointless. The keeper respawns like nothing happened, Andre wont even talk to you anymore and the shrine maiden ups her prices. They drop no souls or items. Never kill them. It gives you literally nothing.

honestly ng+ is very appropriate for Dark Souls. It is a game where you can actually get more story content from ng+. You are never going to be able to get 100% of the story in 1 run unless you watch some youtube videos and spoil it for yourself. Not to mention there's 4 freakin endings. There is a way to get all of them in 1 run but you've probably cursed at least 1 ending already. Oh and also leveling up for pvp.
Dark Souls 2 actually even adds some new items and more powerful items and enemies, including some to add extra boss challenges. It's a downright crime that they didn't carry this to DS3.
To all the newer players who still don't really understand dark souls or are looking for advice, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT sell upgrade materials for whatever reason. I still don't sell any items just because I never sold any items in dark souls 1 and 2 so I'm just used to keeping everything but I assure you, you will change your mind about weapons and want to try new weapons and if you can't upgrade a weapon to at least +9, you will not get the full effect because it'll be weak and you'll think the weapon just sucks when in reality, you need to upgrade it and then try it.
From what you said about the golden winged knight soul farming: You can get the most amount of souls possible by using: The Coveticus silver serpent ring +3 (found in the dreg heap) The sheild of want (found in smouldering lake) The symbol of Avarice (Dropped by mimics) and The Merdicant's staff (dropped by the werid serpent mages in archdragon peak) With these 4 items you can get about 50,000 souls per winged knight. To make farming easier you can buy the spell Raport (Bought from Karla) to make 2 winged knights fight while you backstab the last one.
Hey, just to let you know that there are actually 40 soul transposition, because you can transpose Rosaria's soul (if you get the Black Eyed Orb and kill Leonhardt in his world), which allows you to get the "Bountifull Sunlight" miracle. Just saying for the Trophies hunters xD

also putting on sheild of want, silver covetus ring and symbol of avarice after beating a boss will give you the 100% boost on the boss, real useful if ur rushing to SL120.

many of the npcs you kill have their own questline where you kill them or get killed. In any case the loot is much better than killing them in the firelink shrine.
In terms of souls farming, you should use the mimic head, switch in Mendicant's Staff as you kill the winged knight and wear +3 version of the snake ring. It will net you 37k per kill. The +3 version is found in Ringed City DLC

You messed up a little, MOST of the covenant NPCs don't drop anything. The Darkmoon covenant lady actually drops the best Faith Catalyst in the game. Other than that this guide is pretty useful. Another great farming spot is to go to the second bonfire in Archdragon Peak, then kill the summon over and over again without killing the summoner lady. With the Silver Serpent Ring and the Shield of Want you get around 5,000 Souls every time you kill him, and if you are very strong you can kill him in around 10 seconds just backstab, heavy attack, light attack. Him getting summoned again takes like 15 seconds too so I'll have to time myself, but If you keep dying to the angel knights this is another option.
Charzar There is one spot that is better than this one. The lothric castle bonfire. You kill the lothric knight at the right and rest. It is a lot faster to gather souls as you don't have to wait those 15 seconds for the respawn. The ammount of souls they drop is almost the same.
Tips for farming those three fatties at the grand archives: -use rapport on one of the two and let them kill each other. use rapport on the third alone and keep backstabbing him. finish off whichever survives from the other two. fighting them is too slow and risky. -get the symbol of avarice (mimic chest Headwear). 50% more souls is seriously crazy (about 90% increase with SoW and Serpent ring). u can farm the avarice with undead hunter charms. just find a mimic, throw charm (mimic opens mouth) and the mask will appear at some point. punch the mimic if it doesn't give u the mask to return it to its chest form and retoss the charm (try pontiff sullivan bonfire second floor of chapel for an easy mimic).

+x RaSor but you should still have two souls, either way you need ng+. i may be misunderstanding you. you can have multiple boss souls and they carry over so you should be able to make Lorian and Lothrics sword and if you have both its a separate option to combine them.
You don't have to kill the giant at the tower. If you collect all the white branches from all of the white birch trees from all over the game world. He will die him self and drop the ring.
hussein ali Hawk Ring. It extends arrow "distance". This is misleading because it sounds like crap but by distance it means the distance scaling. Arrows don't go farther at least from what i have noticed, but they keep there damage for farther distances. The farther the arrow travels the less damage it does this ring helps nullify some of the damage lost by distance.
I grind at Dragon-Kin Mausoleum that one knight is infinitely spawned by the summoner. I get 100,000 souls in 5 minutes and it’s easy you just wait for him to spawn and backstab him.
I am sure very many people said it before but: DONT KILL THE SHRINEHANDMAID!!!! THE PRICES WILL BE DOUBLED FOR THE CHAR FOREVER! Besides of that it is a very good list. Thank you.
As for the soul farming, I found that if you spawn at the 2nd bonfire in Arch-dragon Peak, you can repeatedly backstab and kill the knight that spawns in from the caster upstairs. If you equip soul boosting items like the Shield of Want, Covetous Silver Serpent Ring, and the Symbol of Avarice, you can boost the amount of souls you get too! Guaranteed 7,000 souls every 30 seconds, and no need to run back to the bonfire either, since he spawns in the same place each time, you hardly have to move.
HINT: you can Respecc infinitely by relocating your stats then immediately f4 out when you go back to the menu that pops up when you talk to Rosaria. DO NOT back out of that menu once you respecc, it will not work and you will still use 1 of the 5 chances. Very useful to those wanting to test out weapons or who are not sure about their build. Tip: I highly HIGHLY recommend you complete covenants and ranking up in your early build...for some covenants (those fucking Darkmoons) it becomes very rare to be summoned for items I would recommend: Mad Spirits: Early game Watchdogs: Early game Sunbros: Early to Mid game (I recommend Rotwood) Blue Sents/BoTDM: Early to Mid game Aldrich Faithful: Mid game Red Phantoms: pretty much any point SoTC: End game (At the end of BoTDM once you got all items be sure to kill Yorshka for her chime)
You could also just collect all white tree branches, the Saint-Tree Bellvine, the Crown of Dusk, and the undead bone shard near the first white tree, and the giant passes away (for unknown reasons), so you don't need to kill him. You also don't need to kill the NPCs in Firelink Shrine, unless you feeling edgy and roleplaying as a dickwraith.
I know I'm very late, but the best late game soul farming (strength buil recommended) is at the Dragon-Kin Mausoleum bonfire where the knights get spawned by the man serpant wizzard guy. With the Covetous Silver Serpant Ring +3, Shield of Want, and Symbol of Avarice equipped along with a heavy weapon - I found the Drangonslayer Greataxe +5, or the Heavy Greatsword aka Guts, work the best for all it takes is a back stab and a charged heavy (at 55 strength) to kill each one - it takes about 21 seconds at 9,720 souls per kill. That's approximately 100k in about 3 and a half minutes.

I think I kinda optimized farming those 3 bigbois at the top of the Archives. Symbol of Avarice, (LH1)Shield of Want, (LH2) Pyromancer Flame, (RH1) Dark Dagger, (RH2) Mendicant's staff, Hornet Ring, Dark Clutch Ring, Slumbering Dragoncrest Ring, Covetous Silver Serpent Ring +3 1. Run up to the first narrow staircase and turn left. Stop when you ran past the entrance to the rafters (where you can drop down for the Divine Pillars of Light miracle). This way, only one of the knights will aggro you, the other two will just chill. 2. As the first knight starts falling, starting the casting animation for Rapport, and don't be too close, otherwise the knight will cancel it, and try to free aim it at where it will land. 3. Depending on your stats, the Dagger will 2-3 shot it with backstabs. Now, as soon as you know you landed the final blow, switch to the Mendicant's staff and Shield of Want, if you haven't already. 4. Do the same rapport backstab with the other two as well. If you're quick enough, you can rapport the halberd knight before the twinaxe one walked out of it's aggro range, leaving you only one to take care of. 5. Use Homeward / Coiled Sword Fragment and repeat as much as you need to. Every knight should yield around 37K souls, netting you around 121K souls per run.
You don't really have to kill half the NPCs in the game if you follow their quest lines. Buy all the miracles from the miracle lady and she'll become a fire keeper while Eygon's body can be found where she was originally with his loot on it, Sirris' loot can be found in the cemetery of ash just outside of Firelink if you follow her stuff to completion (can't do anything with Rosaria's Fingers until the princes are killed for this), What's-his-face that gets you the Red Eye Orb dies as part of a quest line anyway, Andre doesn't drop anything, summoning the lady from Londor for the final boss will result in her leaving her stuff where she stood after it's over but before NG+, ect.
I know I'm late to the game, but I've found that farming the 3 Man-Serpents right next to the Archdragon Peak Bonfire yields better results for me. If you equip the Ring (no plus), the shield of want, the symbol of Avarice and the Merdicant's staff each Serpent drops around 3,700 souls. Basically get up from the bonfire and walk just a few feet towards the Serpent on your right. Aim at him with your staff, making sure to have the one further behind him in your aim, and use the crystal spear spell to one shot both at once. Then just turn to your left and one shot the other one. Once done turn around and sit down at the bonfire to start over. This method, in my option, is a far better conversion rate for souls. You will get around 11k souls in about 10 seconds. This adds up quickly. You can easily and safely make 1M souls in under 20 minutes of grinding.
The Drakeblood Knight NPC that respawns by the Dragon-kin Mausoleum bonfire that gets summoned by the man-serpent sorcerer after killing the Havel Knight, in my opinion; yields more souls per hour in your first playthrough (7500+ Souls if equipped with CSSR, SOA and SOW) just based on the fact that you don't have to return to a bonfire to respawn him everytime he is slain, only takes up to something like 6s for him to be summoned again. By this time of the game you should also already have majority of the Estus Shards throughout the game and should be able to get through a run without dying, just relying on Estus when your health is low or to prevent you getting one-shot by one of the Knights heavy or weapon art attacks. Even if you do die by the Knight or from the DoT effect of the SOA headpiece, it's only a legit 3s run to get your souls back. In the meantime you can stand behind his back on the first level of the mausoleum (to avoid being hit by the soul mass spells that the man-serpent sorcerer sends out) to get a quick and easy backstab with either a Chaos or Fire infused +10 dagger and finish him off with a +10 DEX or STR weapon that hits hard and quick. I usually use a combination of CSSR, Hornet Ring, Pontiff's Right Eye, and a mix between Chloranthy Ring, Flynn's Ring, or a ring the greatly improves M/S/P spells to enhance buffs. I can average over 1.5M souls in just under 45 mins, could probably be pushed to 2M if you kill the man-serpents around the mausoleum while you wait for the serpent sorcerer to summon the DB Knight. A bit longer of a run but it saves you from going insane doing the same thing over and over again.
Grinding for covenant items maxes out titanite shards small and large. It'll also get you the souls you'd need for buying damn near everything and lvling up to a respectable amount.
good vid! dont know if anyone else has pointed it out yet, but on top of your late game souls farming area i also go out to the left after you go up the elevator and use a white summon to get in and help kill the 3 dudes in that courtyard (where you get the twin katana drop) they are super easy and will net you around 40k souls i believe. THEN ill lead the co-opers up to the 3 winged knights. rinse and repeat. good million souls in 30-45 min

You can actually get 90k souls with the angel knights with the right items. Helm of the Avarice, Silver Serpent Ring, Shield of Want and then put a Medicant's Staff as your second weapon and change it as soon as you kill the angel. This way each one of them will reward you a little bit more than 30k souls! Hope I can help! Nice vid btw
+Natimarinhu You can kill them much faster by using the Rapport pyromancy to charm them to your side. for the duo, one will dominate over the other, and have a small portion of HP that you can simply backstab to death. Run over to the 3rd and charm him, and wail away until dead. Use coiled fragment to last bonfire, repeat.

I just wanna add that when you're farming for souls against the winged knights, it's best if you start from lothric bonfire. You need three rings on for the grinding. Serpent ring +3, slumbering dragon crest ring, and hornet ring. Put on the shield of want, and if you have it, the mendicant staff. Use throwing knives to get the lothric night at the back of the formation to come fight you alone. Crit him to death. Each knight will drop around 11000 souls each with all your soul sucking items. (The mendicant staff can be found on the champion summoning dragon witches in the Archdragon peak area and it also boosts soul consumption) Sneak up on all the enemies down the Lothric stairway selectively to avoid a hoarde. Dealing with the knights first is the best way to avoid this problem. By the time you hit the end of the stairs, you should have around 45000 souls. Make your way to the winged kights. Instead of tricking them down the stairs, sprint to the furthest knight away from you. When they drop down the twin axe knight starts a patrol in the oppisite direction and the second halberd knight will stay stationary with his back to you. The one you sprinted to will drop down with his back to you as well, letting you get a headstart with a backstab. If you don't have quiet footsteps he will immediately turn to you and attack which sometimes alerts the other halberd knight to come investigate. It's best to take out the furthest one first because you can choose whichever ones are left to fight next. The twin axe knight wont reach you until well after you've killed the first one meaning they will all be separate from.one another at all times. If you're quick with taking them out with easy backstsbs and managed to conserve your estus on the way down the stairs, you can wear the symbol of avarice as well while you fight them. Keep the mendicant staff in your second weapon slot so you can swap to it the second you kill one. With this tactic each winged knight will earn you 31000 souls each instead of 17000. From the Twin Princes bonfire to the golden knights, you will net nearly a whopping 150,000 souls. I do this with my level 300 character. He requires 500,000 souls per level up. I can get him 1million souls in under 40 minutes by doing this. Since im on NG5 with him I usually net 400,000 souls every time I do this.
Try farming the 3 gold wing nights with the Pyro "Rapport" The first two kill each other quick or the winner is almost dead. The last knight you sneak up and lock him as your ally and just hack away until it drops in 4-5 swings with a +10 sword . 51,000 souls very quick. If you start NG+ the prices will go back to default. Also you can pay in the undead settlement to lose your sin and that also sets the price increase back to default.

I found this on another video, but another way to get a lot of souls is to use 2 shield of wants, rapport and symbol of avarice. First, you need to make the winged nights fall down and then run away from them quickly. When they don’t see you, equip symbol of avarice, use rapport when they don’t see you, when they start attacking each other you need to equip both shields and then you will get around 40 thousand souls per winged knight! When one dies then hopefully the other winged knight will be weak enough to finish off. Happy farming!
Actually you can do the winged knights a lot easier. Get a high damage weapon for backstabs, hornet ring and as soon as you get to that spot run left so that you're next to the knight that drops down farther from the others backstab him and then at that point the winged knight with the twinaxes should be starting to patrol around the tower so take out the other one without aggroing the patrolling one and then meet him to the left when he's circling back. They are incredibly vulnerable to backstabs since a lot of their moves can just be sprinted around for an easy backstab.
To anyone watching this recently, there is no need to kill the NPCs who have quests since by the end of those quests they usually die one way or another, and if you do kill them before concluding their quests you'll get LESS stuff. There is also no tangible reason to kill Andre, the Shrine Handmaiden or the Fire Keeper.

For more efficient farming use the pyromancy Rapport, it makes them fight each other and you can do it in half the time.

To all the newer players who still don't really understand dark souls or are looking for advice, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT sell upgrade materials for whatever reason. I still don't sell any items just because I never sold any items in dark souls 1 and 2 so I'm just used to keeping everything but I assure you, you will change your mind about weapons and want to try new weapons and if you can't upgrade a weapon to at least +9, you will not get the full effect because it'll be weak and you'll think the weapon just sucks when in reality, you need to upgrade it and then try it.

From what you said about the golden winged knight soul farming:
You can get the most amount of souls possible by using:
The Coveticus silver serpent ring +3 (found in the dreg heap)
The sheild of want (found in smouldering lake)
The symbol of Avarice (Dropped by mimics) and
The Merdicant's staff (dropped by the werid serpent mages in archdragon peak)
With these 4 items you can get about 50,000 souls per winged knight.
To make farming easier you can buy the spell Raport (Bought from Karla) to make 2 winged knights fight while you backstab the last one.

Hey, just to let you know that there are actually 40 soul transposition, because you can transpose Rosaria's soul (if you get the Black Eyed Orb and kill Leonhardt in his world), which allows you to get the "Bountifull Sunlight" miracle. Just saying for the Trophies hunters xD

many of the npcs you kill have their own questline where you kill them or get killed. In any case the loot is much better than killing them in the firelink shrine.
In terms of souls farming, you should use the mimic head, switch in Mendicant's Staff as you kill the winged knight and wear +3 version of the snake ring. It will net you 37k per kill.
The +3 version is found in Ringed City DLC

You messed up a little, MOST of the covenant NPCs don't drop anything. The Darkmoon covenant lady actually drops the best Faith Catalyst in the game. Other than that this guide is pretty useful. Another great farming spot is to go to the second bonfire in Archdragon Peak, then kill the summon over and over again without killing the summoner lady. With the Silver Serpent Ring and the Shield of Want you get around 5,000 Souls every time you kill him, and if you are very strong you can kill him in around 10 seconds just backstab, heavy attack, light attack. Him getting summoned again takes like 15 seconds too so I'll have to time myself, but If you keep dying to the angel knights this is another option.
Charzar There is one spot that is better than this one. The lothric castle bonfire. You kill the lothric knight at the right and rest. It is a lot faster to gather souls as you don't have to wait those 15 seconds for the respawn. The ammount of souls they drop is almost the same.
I always grin at that place Kin Mausolemoum or something rite?just use R2 from behind as the spawn,repeat over and over,easy no sweat :)

Tips for farming those three fatties at the grand archives:
-use rapport on one of the two and let them kill each other. use rapport on the third alone and keep backstabbing him. finish off whichever survives from the other two. fighting them is too slow and risky.
-get the symbol of avarice (mimic chest Headwear). 50% more souls is seriously crazy (about 90% increase with SoW and Serpent ring). u can farm the avarice with undead hunter charms. just find a mimic, throw charm (mimic opens mouth) and the mask will appear at some point. punch the mimic if it doesn't give u the mask to return it to its chest form and retoss the charm (try pontiff sullivan bonfire second floor of chapel for an easy mimic).
Oooooor you can just fuck everything up and go NG+ right after killing the end boss

hussein ali Hawk Ring. It extends arrow "distance". This is misleading because it sounds like crap but by distance it means the distance scaling. Arrows don't go farther at least from what i have noticed, but they keep there damage for farther distances. The farther the arrow travels the less damage it does this ring helps nullify some of the damage lost by distance.

I grind at Dragon-Kin Mausoleum that one knight is infinitely spawned by the summoner. I get 100,000 souls in 5 minutes and it’s easy you just wait for him to spawn and backstab him.

As for the soul farming, I found that if you spawn at the 2nd bonfire in Arch-dragon Peak, you can repeatedly backstab and kill the knight that spawns in from the caster upstairs. If you equip soul boosting items like the Shield of Want, Covetous Silver Serpent Ring, and the Symbol of Avarice, you can boost the amount of souls you get too! Guaranteed 7,000 souls every 30 seconds, and no need to run back to the bonfire either, since he spawns in the same place each time, you hardly have to move.

HINT: you can Respecc infinitely by relocating your stats then immediately f4 out when you go back to the menu that pops up when you talk to Rosaria. DO NOT back out of that menu once you respecc, it will not work and you will still use 1 of the 5 chances.
Very useful to those wanting to test out weapons or who are not sure about their build.
Tip: I highly HIGHLY recommend you complete covenants and ranking up in your early build...for some covenants (those fucking Darkmoons) it becomes very rare to be summoned for items I would recommend:
Mad Spirits: Early game
Watchdogs: Early game
Sunbros: Early to Mid game (I recommend Rotwood)
Blue Sents/BoTDM: Early to Mid game
Aldrich Faithful: Mid game
Red Phantoms: pretty much any point
SoTC: End game
(At the end of BoTDM once you got all items be sure to kill Yorshka for her chime)

You could also just collect all white tree branches, the Saint-Tree Bellvine, the Crown of Dusk, and the undead bone shard near the first white tree, and the giant passes away (for unknown reasons), so you don't need to kill him.
You also don't need to kill the NPCs in Firelink Shrine, unless you feeling edgy and roleplaying as a dickwraith.
I know I'm very late, but the best late game soul farming (strength buil recommended) is at the Dragon-Kin Mausoleum bonfire where the knights get spawned by the man serpant wizzard guy. With the Covetous Silver Serpant Ring +3, Shield of Want, and Symbol of Avarice equipped along with a heavy weapon - I found the Drangonslayer Greataxe +5, or the Heavy Greatsword aka Guts, work the best for all it takes is a back stab and a charged heavy (at 55 strength) to kill each one - it takes about 21 seconds at 9,720 souls per kill. That's approximately 100k in about 3 and a half minutes.

I think I kinda optimized farming those 3 bigbois at the top of the Archives.
Symbol of Avarice, (LH1)Shield of Want, (LH2) Pyromancer Flame, (RH1) Dark Dagger, (RH2) Mendicant's staff, Hornet Ring, Dark Clutch Ring, Slumbering Dragoncrest Ring, Covetous Silver Serpent Ring +3
1. Run up to the first narrow staircase and turn left. Stop when you ran past the entrance to the rafters (where you can drop down for the Divine Pillars of Light miracle). This way, only one of the knights will aggro you, the other two will just chill.
2. As the first knight starts falling, starting the casting animation for Rapport, and don't be too close, otherwise the knight will cancel it, and try to free aim it at where it will land.
3. Depending on your stats, the Dagger will 2-3 shot it with backstabs. Now, as soon as you know you landed the final blow, switch to the Mendicant's staff and Shield of Want, if you haven't already.
4. Do the same rapport backstab with the other two as well. If you're quick enough, you can rapport the halberd knight before the twinaxe one walked out of it's aggro range, leaving you only one to take care of.
5. Use Homeward / Coiled Sword Fragment and repeat as much as you need to. Every knight should yield around 37K souls, netting you around 121K souls per run.
You don't really have to kill half the NPCs in the game if you follow their quest lines. Buy all the miracles from the miracle lady and she'll become a fire keeper while Eygon's body can be found where she was originally with his loot on it, Sirris' loot can be found in the cemetery of ash just outside of Firelink if you follow her stuff to completion (can't do anything with Rosaria's Fingers until the princes are killed for this), What's-his-face that gets you the Red Eye Orb dies as part of a quest line anyway, Andre doesn't drop anything, summoning the lady from Londor for the final boss will result in her leaving her stuff where she stood after it's over but before NG+, ect.
I know I'm late to the game, but I've found that farming the 3 Man-Serpents right next to the Archdragon Peak Bonfire yields better results for me.
If you equip the Ring (no plus), the shield of want, the symbol of Avarice and the Merdicant's staff each Serpent drops around 3,700 souls.
Basically get up from the bonfire and walk just a few feet towards the Serpent on your right. Aim at him with your staff, making sure to have the one further behind him in your aim, and use the crystal spear spell to one shot both at once. Then just turn to your left and one shot the other one. Once done turn around and sit down at the bonfire to start over. This method, in my option, is a far better conversion rate for souls.
You will get around 11k souls in about 10 seconds. This adds up quickly. You can easily and safely make 1M souls in under 20 minutes of grinding.
The Drakeblood Knight NPC that respawns by the Dragon-kin Mausoleum bonfire that gets summoned by the man-serpent sorcerer after killing the Havel Knight, in my opinion; yields more souls per hour in your first playthrough (7500+ Souls if equipped with CSSR, SOA and SOW) just based on the fact that you don't have to return to a bonfire to respawn him everytime he is slain, only takes up to something like 6s for him to be summoned again. By this time of the game you should also already have majority of the Estus Shards throughout the game and should be able to get through a run without dying, just relying on Estus when your health is low or to prevent you getting one-shot by one of the Knights heavy or weapon art attacks. Even if you do die by the Knight or from the DoT effect of the SOA headpiece, it's only a legit 3s run to get your souls back.
In the meantime you can stand behind his back on the first level of the mausoleum (to avoid being hit by the soul mass spells that the man-serpent sorcerer sends out) to get a quick and easy backstab with either a Chaos or Fire infused +10 dagger and finish him off with a +10 DEX or STR weapon that hits hard and quick.
I usually use a combination of CSSR, Hornet Ring, Pontiff's Right Eye, and a mix between Chloranthy Ring, Flynn's Ring, or a ring the greatly improves M/S/P spells to enhance buffs. I can average over 1.5M souls in just under 45 mins, could probably be pushed to 2M if you kill the man-serpents around the mausoleum while you wait for the serpent sorcerer to summon the DB Knight. A bit longer of a run but it saves you from going insane doing the same thing over and over again.
at 9:18 just use the pyromany Rapport and they fight each other best spell for the lothric castle

Grinding for covenant items maxes out titanite shards small and large. It'll also get you the souls you'd need for buying damn near everything and lvling up to a respectable amount.
You'll want to find all of the mimics as well, so that you get the Symbol of Avarice
+TimelordPandamonious and using the undead hunter charm counts as "killing" it which makes farming for it a lot easier.
+TimelordPandamonious you dont get the symbol for killing them all its a % drop of any of them.

THEN ill lead the co-opers up to the 3 winged knights. rinse and repeat. good million souls in 30-45 min

You can actually get 90k souls with the angel knights with the right items. Helm of the Avarice, Silver Serpent Ring, Shield of Want and then put a Medicant's Staff as your second weapon and change it as soon as you kill the angel. This way each one of them will reward you a little bit more than 30k souls!

You can kill them much faster by using the Rapport pyromancy to charm them to your side. for the duo, one will dominate over the other, and have a small portion of HP that you can simply backstab to death. Run over to the 3rd and charm him, and wail away until dead. Use coiled fragment to last bonfire, repeat.

I just wanna add that when you're farming for souls against the winged knights, it's best if you start from lothric bonfire. You need three rings on for the grinding. Serpent ring +3, slumbering dragon crest ring, and hornet ring. Put on the shield of want, and if you have it, the mendicant staff. Use throwing knives to get the lothric night at the back of the formation to come fight you alone. Crit him to death. Each knight will drop around 11000 souls each with all your soul sucking items. (The mendicant staff can be found on the champion summoning dragon witches in the Archdragon peak area and it also boosts soul consumption)
Sneak up on all the enemies down the Lothric stairway selectively to avoid a hoarde. Dealing with the knights first is the best way to avoid this problem. By the time you hit the end of the stairs, you should have around 45000 souls. Make your way to the winged kights. Instead of tricking them down the stairs, sprint to the furthest knight away from you. When they drop down the twin axe knight starts a patrol in the oppisite direction and the second halberd knight will stay stationary with his back to you. The one you sprinted to will drop down with his back to you as well, letting you get a headstart with a backstab. If you don't have quiet footsteps he will immediately turn to you and attack which sometimes alerts the other halberd knight to come investigate. It's best to take out the furthest one first because you can choose whichever ones are left to fight next. The twin axe knight wont reach you until well after you've killed the first one meaning they will all be separate from.one another at all times. If you're quick with taking them out with easy backstsbs and managed to conserve your estus on the way down the stairs, you can wear the symbol of avarice as well while you fight them. Keep the mendicant staff in your second weapon slot so you can swap to it the second you kill one. With this tactic each winged knight will earn you 31000 souls each instead of 17000.
From the Twin Princes bonfire to the golden knights, you will net nearly a whopping 150,000 souls. I do this with my level 300 character. He requires 500,000 souls per level up. I can get him 1million souls in under 40 minutes by doing this. Since im on NG5 with him I usually net 400,000 souls every time I do this.
Try farming the 3 gold wing nights with the Pyro "Rapport" The first two kill each other quick or the winner is almost dead. The last knight you sneak up and lock him as your ally and just hack away until it drops in 4-5 swings with a +10 sword .

If so it seems so unnecessary. I wouldn't recommend it.
If you start NG+ the prices will go back to default. Also you can pay in the undead settlement to lose your sin and that also sets the price increase back to default.

I found this on another video, but another way to get a lot of souls is to use 2 shield of wants, rapport and symbol of avarice. First, you need to make the winged nights fall down and then run away from them quickly. When they don’t see you, equip symbol of avarice, use rapport when they don’t see you, when they start attacking each other you need to equip both shields and then you will get around 40 thousand souls per winged knight! When one dies then hopefully the other winged knight will be weak enough to finish off. Happy farming!

Get a high damage weapon for backstabs, hornet ring and as soon as you get to that spot run left so that you're next to the knight that drops down farther from the others backstab him and then at that point the winged knight with the twinaxes should be starting to patrol around the tower so take out the other one without aggroing the patrolling one and then meet him to the left when he's circling back. They are incredibly vulnerable to backstabs since a lot of their moves can just be sprinted around for an easy backstab.
Also use the symbol of avarice it helps a lot.

To anyone watching this recently, there is no need to kill the NPCs who have quests since by the end of those quests they usually die one way or another, and if you do kill them before concluding their quests you'll get LESS stuff. There is also no tangible reason to kill Andre, the Shrine Handmaiden or the Fire Keeper.
