I went to see Kurt Vile in Ottawa. He was cool. I invited some friends of mine to the show. One of them said to me "So who is this Kurt Vile guy?" and he walked by and said "Oh that's me." and kept on walking. He was cool. His show was great too. Just him, a guitar and a looping pedal.
You should see him with the Violators… tricking awesome show. He's a totally casual guy though, you're right.
I did not know that he Smiled !!
“Then I laughed and I said oh silly me, that’s just me”
so much respect for kurt vile knowing hes a weeeeeeeeeeeeen fan !
"One of em is for me, one of em for Adam my guitar player." This dude is legit
From War On Drugs. Cool.
Those that do not enjoy Ween are not my friends. Love ya Dean
One day, I swear Imma see Kurt in concert.
What about the War On Drugs? Baby Missiles.
Anybody who likes Ween gets approval points in my book.
I said "yes" when he flaunted The Mollusk.
one of the greatest albums ever
When I saw that I thought maybe I should check him out.
Well, he is from Philly.
yup. totally agreed.
Is this the only time on "What's in my bag?" that someone bought Ween? Holy smokes, FINALLY! I think I've seen all of these and that may have been the only Ween sighting.
Kurt looks so 70s in a good way.
Yes!! He reminds me of old live Pink Floyd videos (with the gorgeous David Gilmour).
He looks like Niel young
He needs a beard and massive amounts of chest hair to be 70’s
That's a timeless look. 70s to now definitely dudes have always had hair like that and worn t-shirts
The Linda Perhacs album, "Parallelograms", is perched in the background on the right. If you like Anne Briggs, Perhacs will not disappoint.
I love Kurt. Just realized how much he looks like a young Rory Gallagher too.
Kurt is down with The Brown.
I sang some Ween songs with Kurt Vile, while I was busking outside his show in Minneapolis a few summers ago...
Kurt Vile likes Michael Hurley....
My life is complete
I love ween, so funny
Anne Briggs? This guy gets it.
I hope he picks up a copy of Michael Hurley's "LIVING LJUBLJANA" released in 2018. He'd loved it :)
yo dude, he's the stallion
Thanks to this video where Kurt mentioned Bert Jansch (who I'd never heard of before and am gonna go listen to forever now).
Rainfall And Bonfires What are the best Jansch albums? I’ve heard about him but have never actually heard any of his stuff.
Yeah man!
Top Choices sir..Anne, Bert, Michael Hurley, Fairport Convention. Can't go wrong right there.
The Mollusk by Ween is my favorite album ever.
Hell yeah! Weens the bomb
What excellent choices
Yay I love that Anne Briggs!
I love ween’s use of the pitch shifted vocals, not many people experiment with that and I wish more would
WEEN
The Mollusk. Awesome!
I couldn't possibly love him more.
wow thats crazy TV Ghost is a local band where im from
Ween AND Michael Hurley?!! RIGHT ON! Ween is my all-time favorite band and Michael Hurley is easily my favorite singer-songwriter (he doesn't get enough recognition, IMO).
I kept staring at his face wondering who he reminds me of. A skinny Johnny Vegas. Tell me I'm wrong.
dude... wtf?
?
Goddamn... I'm seeing it.
Johnny Vegas and Darlene from 'Roseanne'.
Rowan Atkinson I think he looks like
WEEN! Fuck Yeah!
Kurt Vile. From Philly.
Kurt Vile is the man. I listen to Pretty Pimpin at least once a day. NO JOKE. ....
i met kurt vile and the violators yesterday and shared a beer and a cigarette. he really is a great guy and really friendly! Its so rare to meet a musician who is so down to earth and self-depreciating. great gig and superb talent. jesse is super nice too!
Cool guy. Fairport, Bert Jansch, Annie Briggs and Michael Hurley.
Love him even more now he gave props to Ween! 👏👏👏
what a dude!
This video got me into both Ween and Michael Hurley 😭
Good to hear, lol. Ween is easily my favorite band and Michael Hurley is my favorite singer-songwriter. I just watched this video for the first time and I'm pleasantly surprised both were brought up!
Seems like a sweetheart of a guy
LOVE that they play "she wanted to leave" in the end credits
WEEN!
These clips are addictive - it's good to hear your favourite cool artist speaking enthusiastically about music
holy shit he's a ween fan too. i can't believe I'm just now finding this out. Mollusk and the stallion suite are some of my favorites!
Ween FTW
One of the other members of Grin not named Nils Lofgren owns and operates an independent record store in the town I live in (Frederick, Md.) called Vinyl Acres in a basement shop on one of this city's main streets.
I hope that he has good business insurance 'cuz he's been unable to operate for three months now due to the COVID-19 outbreak and still hasn't even though Md's social-distancing restrictions have been relaxed in recent weeks and the lockdown lifted. I'm worried that the couple of months in which he couldn't legally operate during the lockdown might have killed his shop.
i like the part where the song goes, "dont cress the weasel, and dont fall too soon , dont seek the blood of the panther.......etc. ace tune, nice choice...
you should listen to pentangle thats what got me into bert jansch simply amazing
Get the Linda Perhacs record in the background for the love of god.
Who in the fuck hates Ween? If they exist, I'd rather not meet them.
I wish they would reissue Michael hurleys catalogue again 😢
Whats in my bag?
Nothing you bums have heard of..
this kind of elitism wont bring you far
Correction: Youse bums.
you're so punk..
finally a" whats in my bag" whos not afraid to like tasty music.
aw man this was beautiful
Kurt's cool and authentic... be yourself y'all. peace
I do declare...
There were times when i was so lonesome I took some comfort there
Thought the same exact thing hahaha
I'm surprised that I still haven't seen any artist on here buy a Fuel album or Florida Georgia Line
Prill Jazz America actually?
so stoked he picked out ween- the mollusk
philly! kurt is an amazing artist
Bert Jansch is so great
Outtro is a great song from The Mollusk - She Wanted To Leave
that record store is a corner of paradise, I could go crazy there... great choice Kurt!
ur the prettiest mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
"Some licks!" love that bit
Hope to see Kurt Vile live one of these days. Can't believe I saw him standing in front of an LP I think he'd like...Parallelograms by Linda Perhacs (love the title track)...and I see below a couple of other folks mentioned it too. Have to thank him for turning me on to two people I'm not familiar with...Anne Briggs and Michael Hurley (both still alive but only Hurley's still be playing out). If he likes Anne Briggs, I think he should check out the early works of Frankie Armstrong (the two women were together on a project at one point). ❤☮🌎
Anne Briggs, Fairport Convention...and Bert Jansch. Wow, this guy is my kinda guy.
Fuck ya TV Ghost!
Mollusk. Damn straight.
ONE NIGHT BY CHANCE I SEEN THIS DUDE PERFORMED AND IT WAS AMAZING.
Kurt viles the man.... Non stop listening to his stuff for hours !!!!!
Ha. Ive seen TV Ghost play in Lafayette Indiana because im from there too. Sweet band.
WEEN! (Respect)
Enjoyed this one.
cool video and good picks.. kurt vile is the man..
Anne Briggs ! And he knows that guy from Espers, that doesn't really surprise me. :)
qute butt nice voice rad hair
Interesting, he sounds a little like Kurt Cobain without the raspiness.
Sounds nothing like him. They have the same first name, that's about the only thing they seem to have in common.
A.J. Meyer I didn't mean his singing. Just hearing him speak here. Try slowing it down a little, and you'll see what I'm talking about.
+Christopher Walker I know you meant that, and I disagree. Well, I guess another thing they had in common was cigarette smoking, which explains the raspy voice.
Haha, yeah. You know, opiates actually can make your voice raspy as well.
Because the vocal cords are so 'ultra relaxed'
and Kurt was probably on heavy amounts of Heroin much of the time.
@2:53 O-O\\ I got to go get that Linda Perhacs record . . which store is this?? I was just at the one in LA and I didn't see it! maybe because my dumbass didn't lokk fo rit
Almost all choices on the Folk side but i guees that's the way many of us operate when buying records on a particular day. What impresses me is that he seems to be such a great and down to earth guy. Not bad for someone who for many has released the best Rock Record of 2013...
hes so adorable sheesh
That ween album is pretty great. They might be the loudest band I've ever seen live. Loved the tunes but I had to check out after 4 or 5 songs.
He reminds me a lot of Darlene from Roseanne
funniest shit i've read all day, too real
or Anna...no not Anna Conda, but Anna Moss (from "High Fidelity")
I was thinking Neil from The Young Ones.
Almost got to see him open for Thurston Moore last year. Was too broke to go and am now kinda bummed about it...
Excellent chuckle at the end!
I love Kurt Vile, nothing I've heard from him has disappointed yet.
The ahead shield dewailly analyse because pink postmeiotically jump behind a towering brand. breezy, ill-fated mailman
Kurt Cobain and Neil Young had a baby! Congrats guys.
+Margot Bethune ...funny, i was going to say John Frusciante and Cory Feldman.
ugetsu Frusciante? Poor Vile...
thanks Kurt, i'll look 'em up
man, he picked awesome shit
WHAT BURT JANSCH ALBUMS SHOULD I CHECK OUT!?!?!
a more recent song is a collaboration with the lovely Hope Sandoval of Mazzy Star. It's called "All This Remains" .
such a nice guy
When do you film these? I was just at Amoeba Music in LA
+Taylor Northern They happen all different times of the day depending on the schedule of the artist.
@@amoeba now do one with Aaron Freeman and/or Mickey Melchiondo of Ween! please and thank you.
anybody know the tv ghost song it is that they play?
That's a live version of the song "the nihilist" from the first EP
Fuckin Kurt being Brown makes all the senses. Ween is a bands band
What we need is a new Espers album.
All these picks are great
Man i would love to share a beer or a glass of whiskey with this guy! He's so damn cool.
Nils LOFgren!!!! OMG...how do you not know anything about this man???? That just depressed me.
THANKS KURT!!
Kurt!! Great taste.... well done!!!
Bert Jansch mentioned‼️🗣️
