Taking a cruise usually means going on an adventure. For a big foodie like me, that adventure is always culinary. I just came back from a 7 day cruise on the beautiful Celebrity Ascent and today I'm going to make you an expert at everything food related on your next cruise.

@@tomsunday The staff, from the very first visit, will remember you and address you by name the entire cruise! They remember what you drink, even if it’s just OJ for breakfast! So pleasurable, we pass on specialty dining when cruising.
They will also accommodate you should you want to order from main dining menu.
@user-ml6sn5rl3v This is fantastic. Imagine remembering everyone's names?! That must be tough. I do have one question for you. Do you remember if Luminae was open for breakfast/lunch every day or just on port days?
@@tomsunday they are open every single morning for breakfast. They are open for lunch on embarkation day, so if you board early enough, you can eat your first meal at Luminis. If you are in the Retreat , they are only closed for lunch on port days.

Excellent video Tom, as usual. I have 2 cruises booked on the Ascent in sunset veranda on deck 9. My wife commented when you said free ice cream, and then showed the gelato. I really didn’t notice, but I know they charge you for that.

The prices are outrageous IMHO.
$70 For a lunch is ridiculous.
We all know that Bistro $35 will soon be $40 per or more.
Celebrity is known to raise prices a few times a year.
On the Reflection I rated Blu at 6 or a very weak 7...for you to rate Blu that high, they must have changed the menu and portions got bigger...I ate from the MDR Menu 5 out of the 9 nights.
The Mast Grill, The burgers were no better then a supermarket burger...the hotdogs nothing was special about them.
I now have a cruise booked on Viking Ocean as well as Oceania....Viking was close to a Celebrity cruise fare...Oceania just about the same price. That should tell.you how much Celebrity has increased their fare..But also Extra charges are now showing up...Eden Lunch, everything use to be free, Not anymore...consider these extra charges such as eliminating tip to their all inclusive package also increases the fare...I don't see them putting the brakes on all these prices increase until people stop cruising with Celebrity...if people keep booking prices will keep raising until people say enough.
Hi Mark! Thank you for the comment. I haven't looked into Viking but Oceania does have similar pricing. I am still a little confused about the all included. I am not sure if it's better to get flights through them or on your own. However, I do see that prices are comparable. I need to look into Viking.
@@tomsunday If you book a flight through Celebrity you are stuck with that flight no matter what..
You cannot change a thing. I had my last flights booked through Celebrity...My connecting flight gave me a leeway of 2 hours...thr flight time was changed for the connecting flight from giving me 2 hours to make the connection to 1 hour...I tried everything to change the connecting flight even go the President of Celebrity involved...Celebrity couldn't do a thing because they cannot make changes...I was told if the 3rd party was not invovled it would have not been a problem.
Celebrity Air recording when you are on hold are ALL LIES...They state we got you covered from the tarmac to the top deck...BS...They can't do anything with the airline...
Here is the best part...I asked the emergency air department if I miss my connection what is the best thing I can do...They stated I SHOULD speak to the airline in London because it would take us too long to rebook you...
How does that grab you...I will never ever book flights with a cruise line again.
Thank you for sharing your story. That must of been very stressful. I agree. It's best to book your own flights. I am not sure the discount I would get with booking via the cruise would be worth the extra stress.
@tomsunday Hi Tom. I think you'll find that with flights, it depends. I have 2 Silversea and a Regent coming up. Silversea Door2door was worth it for these sailings, Regeant air was not. This will depend where you must fly in or out. If doing a closed loop domestic, you probably don't need air from the cruise line. With both Silversea and Regent you can request flight changes, but this can incur a 'deviation fee' of about $150-175 per person. This might still be worth it depending on the flight destinations and timing.

Thanks, Tom. Just back from Silhouette (solstice class). The food and service in Luminae and Murano were tops. Didn't eat anywhere else. Tuscan does not appeal to me at all even if it were included - a very weird mix of offerings that don't look well-executed. The Porch, Lawn Grill, and Sushi on 5 also did not interest us.
You are most welcome. I havent sailed on the Silhouette yet. Im considering doing that this year. I am surprised you did not like Tuscan. Its usually very good. I enjoy their fillet mignon. Its done really well.
Tom, are you sure that the Daniel Beloud restaurant is only $ 75 per person ?? PLEASE cCNFIRM. I am going March 31st on this ship.
Hi Renate. I will look at my past order history and also check my cruise planner for upcoming cruises. I'll get back to you in a few hours once I'm out of work. I'm pretty sure it's 75 or 79 per person.
It's $85 per person. usually there is a sale that brings it down to $79 per person.
Dining at Le Voyage by Daniel Boulud carries a charge of $125 per person for the dinner menu and $200 per person for the tasting menu. Guests who have purchased specialty dining packages will incur an additional charge of $20 for dinner and $50 for the tasting menus, reflecting the premium nature of the dining experience and the exclusivity of the offerings.
I am booked on the Celebrity Ascent for December and I just checked on the application. The first day there is a special of $117.99 per person. The rest of the days is $125.00 for the dinner only. 😊
