When u mention abt kerala and tamilnad, u should not forget to mention that kerala and tamilnad provide so many benefits to poor peoples. They have developed health infrastructure for poor peoples. When gujarat builds infrastructure, it's for adani or ambani. This is why gujarat has no debt. I don't blame u. Becz, u guys r doing your duty for your owners. What are you talking about? Trickle down economics totally works. it trickles the losses of the companies down into the economy. Profits, though, only trickle up.
Also, small point - wages should not be directly compared across states but adjusted to cost of living for those states.
Which is why I always say, MNC and all is fine but we shouldnt run after them. Now should we run after big companies like mad men. Small and medium business is where true prosperity lies. Tomorrow if these companies leave because another state is giving a slightly lower tax or because USA or Eu decides we dont like India lets put sanctions, everything will collapse. Which is why small business growth is sustainable growth and increases independence of the country as well as GDP - permanently. And no one can pull anything away from a state
Point to be noted here. Gujarat does not earn a single rupee by excise on Liquor, as it is a dry state. Even then they have managed their finances so well..👍👍👍

I am from Gujarat and one thing I can say with certainty about one social indicator is: Gujarat is doing AMAZING in terms of women safety. During navaratri days (or pretty much throughout the year), ladies can go outside on their own late in night without any fear. A father of a young girl who is out till 3 am would not be worried at all whereas there are many states in India where you can't imagine women from your home being out late in night on their own.
Women are safe in the south too. May be its something new in the north

Very underrated state which promote their culture and sport also.
I've a relative who lives in Gujarat. Due to colon cancer he had to undergo a surgery and all of his cost was covered by "MA Card". Not sure if this is a state scheme or central government scheme but he did not face any financial difficulties. This is just once incident where I feel Gujarat is doing good on healthcare front. "Mukhyamantri Amrutam" (MA card) is health care welfare scheme started by Narendra modi when he was CM of Gujarat.
MAA card is state initiative and is one of the best performing healthcare policy throughout India and world

I am Gujarati and found this analysis better than clickbait. One area where I think this video can be improved is that GJ performance on social indicators is stated in absolute terms but not compared to other states. Comparison helps people understand the situation in a state compared to other parts of the country.
Exactly. Moreover the problem with social indicators is that in today's day and age can you really trust any source to just this particular aspect which is inherently very very very subjective in nature? If you want to to minimise bias in a video you can't choose sources that you don't know how biased they are and what kind of general reporting is done on these "sources"

Sorry but I was so angry despite being one of the wealthiest states doing pathetic in healthcare sector. I have worked in Baroda and Ahmedabad. Then I returned back to Bangalore and now I live in Canada. There are some good hospitals in Ahmedabad like Apollo and shalby. But government hospitals

I have been living in Gujarat for the past 4 years.
Good things here are
1. Peaceful and calm people
2. Spirituality deeply rooted in society leading to an almost violence and crime free state
3. Entrepreneurial mindset of people
4. Wealthy agriculturists
5. Negligible number of people who are extremely poor
6. Excellent law and order
Issues with Gujarat
1. Education- but people here don't pay much attention to this coz anyways school and college education holds little relevance for becoming a businessman especially with the kind of education system that we have
2. Health - Awareness needs to be spread about this. This is an issue of concern but here they have something called the MA Amrutham scheme which covers the poor upto 5 lacs per family for medical expenses
3. Low wages - Well this is an issue to be dealt with

The issue is huge tribal population and tribal development has been an achilles heel for most Indian govts. All other issues are par or better than the rest of India.

I have been to Gujarat and it’s absolutely transformed by Modi, people and local authorities. It’s inspiring and beautiful. I understand govt needs to spend on public but that’s not a big deal and other aspect is there’s no place for terrorists, anti national or anti Hindu elements whatsoever. national identity, security , culture, preserving local people, women safety . Etc plays a big role. To me nations culture, Hindu civilization and civilization is far important than anything and as we know we have a incredible ability to generate wealth and india will rise again

Odisha seems to be doing well in critical economic parameters, but the national media never focuses on this state. Possibly because it is neither a BJP nor Congress run state government.

I remember my now late Nanaji who travelled to Gujarat frequently for business used to tell my mom how frequent hindu-muslim riots were in the state and how after Modi the state transformed to one of the most peaceful and prosperous states in India.

Being a citizen of Gujarat I very much agree and feel satisfied with your video. The Industrial revolution is really good here but ordinary people are struggling. Malnutrition in children has been the biggest emerging problem here along with the lower wages. The number of crorepatis is increasing and so are the poor.

My friend recently moved his business from Mumbai to Ahmedabad due to the well planned infrastructure and convenience of export from shipping port, as Mumbai has bad roads and floods every year then there is the unorganised tight traffic jams it often lead to delays in exports and losses of lakhs. So I too believe that this model works as I had stayed there for a business trip and I was surprised how well planned it was.

I m from Gujarat and I have found it authentic and well researched analysis. Though I have observed that in last 20 years heaps of lower middle class is switching to upper middle class and quality of life has improved a lot but still there is a need of improvement in administration, healthcare and most importantly education. As I am from Gujarat I can say that this analysis was to the point and, in social indicators, I’d like to add that I completed my entire schooling and 12th Science PCM in Gujarati medium from govt school, where English medium and central board is private, we received same quality education and attention. I did Mechanical Engineering from Government Engineering College and got campus placed in reputed MNC. My father is a fruit vendor and he gets umbrellas in summer for shade, he has license so that he can sell fruits on road without disturbance from police.
I think currently in Gujarat, lower and middle class people are really getting attention and support from government. Education is also accessible and government is supporting a lot in that area too.

Although GUJ as a mfg State you should compare it with mfg MH & TN , you can see industrial wage avg of TN is almost at par with that of GUJ & min agri. Wage in MH is almost at par with GUJ. so the comparison with other states make a very good conclusion where guj is lacking. And also most important thing when Modi was a CM for 12 years in GUJ , in Center UPA govt (10 years) had made sure that no Big projects come to Guj just bcoz their hate for Modi... The government has a few plans for middle and lower middle class wherein they can carry out major surgeries at pretty decent hospitals for a very minimal charge with one of the government's health card. I have seen this first hand in my neighbor's case where he got a stent placed in his heart at a very affordable price at one of the hcg hospitals.
Here in TN, the State govt has the Insurance policy for the poor. So the cost of the surgery is free in Govt Hospitals and private hospitals should take few percent patients under this CM insurance plans. This TN CM Insurance Scheme offers coverage to the entire family with the help of cashless facilities. Only those income under 72000 per annum can use this facility.
The Government employees and retired Government employees are supported by another set of Insurance policy. So the poor an underprivileged are taken with good care.

I visited Gujarat a month back and was surprised to see many under-nourished kids. Didn't get a chance to check the government schools though. But what I know is Gujarat is full of business minded people. There are a lot of positives to come out of the state along with a few negatives. And I believe the positives would out-weigh the negatives.

Gujarat has improved in infrastructure, roads, gov offices, gov employees doing their work in more frndly manner and many many other things. All thanks to this stable gov. And the negative points you mentioned here are also true, gov needs to work more honesty and need to invest more on Education, Helathcare system. Even though gov is investing not enough on healthcare system, they are doing really great. All the targets, works and seriousness in the healthcare is praiseworthy, i knw this cause my family members are in healthcare services. Overall, if gov eliminate few humans which are tripped in their non human behaviour, the state will do awesome.

I have worked in Gujarat for one year and you point about social indicators is quite true. As you move away from the renowned/popular cities, these things become quite evident, but most of the people are not bothered about these things as the cost of living is quite low in Gujarat, so the people don't notice these things , by which I mean that for every expensive/moderately price good/consumable there is a cheaper alternative available in Gujarat which are usually manufactured by a local brand (for eg food, toiletries, clothes and other daily use items) and due to these reasons and property in general is quite cheap when you move towards the comparatively less developed regions, due to which most people do not feel the need for a higher income.
One more factor Employment in Gujarat is way higher than Kerala. And in developing phase India need employment even if it gives low wages but still something is better than nothing.

Being a Gujarati I found your analysis well researched, Gujarat's economy is booming & quality of life is improving year by year of poor people/ middle class people.
In education and healthcare sector there must be more reliable sources than "Wire" as you used RBI source material. Electric BRTS bus & electric auto are good point to cover. There is a one of the largest solar plant coming in modhera, Gujarat. So many more points which can be ruled out for election.

Gujratis I know are very buziness oriented and don't really care a getting degrees coz end of the day 'Baap ke dhande pe he baithna hain aur usse bada karnai'. In my school friends circle most of my Gujju friends didn't really care about education as in getting marks most of them score just pass or failed. Majority of them after school did at max 12th std education and started going to 'Dukan/Dhanda'. Few graduated with me. Today I work in a MNC as a salaried Employee while my Gujju friends who used to fail in exams run their family business.
End Result - Gujju friends spend more money on TP than my annual CTC and make 4-5 times my annual salary. Work for themselves while I slave away for a coorporate. The more harder I work the more richer the Coorporation get, while the more business my friend scales up the less he has to work. So end of the day, who really made it? Answer we both did in our own way - made use of whatever we had.
We meet a few times in a year and still hangout like old times and make fun of each other like we used to in school, there is no ego or attitude, only mutual respect for each other. This is coming from a guy who is Marathi. Who says Marathi-Gujju can't be friends.
I live in States but i must tell you i am really proud to be an indian and now I feel that being indian is now a proud

But I would like to point out in here that "Wire" & "Scroll" are Left wing magazines. As a frequent visitor to gujrat, I know it as fact that the social standards are not that bad. The concentration of schools and hospitals is far better in cities as compared to villages While I am not refuting your stats for education and health care but the people in general are very happy. They have a very relaxed attitude towards life and lastly looking at the competitors, I feel the non corrupt policies of Modi govt. win hands down. But a superb analysis

I am Gujrati and I am totally agree with Education issue, there are teachers who don't even know basic calculations and there are "couple teachers" (Husband and wife in same school) who had got the job via bribery in 20th century. And earning lots of money by teaching nothing. Some teacher don't go to school instead they do farming because schools don't have enough students

The Gujarat model and the Kerala model both are great. Kerala has a lot to learn from the Gujarat model and Gujarat has a lot to learn from the Kerala model. Taking the best of both, we can make a unified development India model which can be used in other Indian states.

Hey bro I am from Kerala and as you have pointed out the financial condition of the state is drowning in alarming level but you can see the social condition is at a very good level,the healthcare, education, minimum wage etc are growing at very good pace...our previous finance minister did a good work and maintained all these very well but current minister is not doing a good job

I am a resident of Gujarat. I found this video is much more accurate but i want to point out the point, which is the 3rd point discussed in the video. I accept that all the points are correct but one sub-point missed in video is the changing demography of the state, in which the lower sections of various states are coming here in Gujarat and getting settled for better jobs. which is not taken into the consideration while the report about poorness of the state. The incoming inflow of poor people is out-ranging the income. I am not saying that this video is incorrect or my info is much correct, I only want to say is that while making such reports changing demography should be part as is plays a major role in how a state is performing.
