A lot of voice actors don't really care for their character and see it as a pay check and move on.
But you can tell Roger Clark had his input on the story, his own editions that he felt were necessary for Arthur Morgan.
During this video you can even see him talk about certain animations that not a lot of players would catch such as Javier pointing his gun at the sky.

He couldn't have been seeing the setting sun anyways. The entire ending mission is at night and you see the sin rising in the east. Arthur told Charles that he wanted to be buried facing the west. He never said anything about which way he wanted to face while dying

The quote is strange in that it isn't accurate because the sun rises in the East not West, but he very clearly says this nonetheless. And how tf is he going to "think of all the good times" if he is already dead... this is obviously referring to the moments leading to death, and this is even further proven in that the entire context of the conversation was the fear of dying.

The sister scene is by far the best scene in the game. When Arthur says he is afraid. That is when it hit, when he talked about his momma and daddy, his old love and his son. And how he lost everyone and then how he is afraid he is going to die, knowing he is near the end of his life. Not sure how many people think it is the best scene, but for me, it is the most real it felt. Never cried at the game but the sorrow I felt for Arthur there was the closest I felt to crying. Just unbelievable how Rockstar have made such an amazing story that could be a movie. Basically it is a movie you have some control with.

But yeah great detail from R* -- shows Javier sides with Dutch but still is not happy to shoot Arthur and John.
I was hoping Javier to join Arthur but it came no surprise he would rally to Dutch's side. I remember in Clemens Cove he asked Dutch what's next after hiding in the south like a bunch of criminals. Dutch responded that the gang are outlaws, rebelling against the system. Javier: there is a difference between an outlaw and a criminal?
