- KitchenAid Stand Mixer 7 Quart Bowl Lift! Is it a Proline? This mixer is a mystery. I recently got a great deal on a matte black refurbished 7quart KitchenAid stand mixer. I am curious to know if this is the Proline model. It has stainless knobs like the Proline but a different band. I have heard that KitchenAid recently developed a new 7 quart model. This mixer might have an AC motor instead of a DC motor. Join me as we take our first look at this mixer! We are also doing a quick sound test between the 7 quart, the KitchenAid Pro 600, and the KitchenAid Artisan Mini. What's up Wednesday! I hope that you have a nice day!

You most likely have a 7 qt Proline. I have 2 of them and love them. They are both KSM7586 in sugar pearl silver. They are definitely quieter than my older 4.5 qt Ultra Power tilt head. I’m so glad you finally added the 7 qt to your Kitchenaid stand mixer family. I wondered all these years why it was missing from your lineup. Congrats!
yep it sounds like my Proline. And the silver knobs are the Proline.
Excellent!! That’s the proline 7 for sure!
To put things in acoustic perspective, the 12 decibel loudness difference between the 6 quart model and the 7 quart model (84 dB vs 76 dB) means the 6 quart is almost 4 times as loud a the 7 quart model. (That's quite a bit.)
The return of the kitchenaid stand mixture! Yay.
So which is better the 7proline or the new one with the redesign touch points?
Love you addiction to all these wonderful machines 😃😃😃😍 Oh my Amy 😮 it’s beautiful 😍
Hi Amy: I think your new 7 quart has a DC motor. I'm surprised it doesn't say Pro Line on the silver band, though. If it had been the new 7 quart AC 500 watt motor, it would have shipped with the stainless steel tools (and the motor for that one has 11 speeds, including a new half-speed for slow mixing/folding). You might find your 8 quart Commercial bowl and stainless steel tools will work on the 7 quart mixer, too. Can't wait to see this one tested!
Her mixer is refurbished, not new, so it's a Pro Line with a DC motor. The new 7 quart mixers that KitchenAid is making now have loud AC motors with about half the power of the DC motor.
@@perniciouspete4986 I wish they were not doing that...must be to save them $$. I love both my 7 qt proline , which I bought SS stuff for, and my Minis! DC motor rules!
@@praisingann4him Yes, it's a real shame that KitchenAid switched motors. It IS a cheaper motor (for them) by far, but I suspect another reason they did it is to make more of a difference between the 7 quart and the 8 quart commercial model which had been basically the same mixer for well over $100.00 more.
@@perniciouspete4986 I agree with you and I also wonder that, since the DC's use a computerized board, if there are commerce shortages for those. This leaves only the Mini- which I love, and the 8 qt for DC.
I have a proline it does not say proline on it.
Bought brand new.
Hi. Will the 7q bowl fit on the 6q mixer?
Apparently, KitchenAid is discontinuing the 7 quart Pro Line 1.3 HP mixer. It was posted on their website. Will people be as happy with the 7 quart 500 watt newer model?
congrats on your new Kitchen Aid
I wonder if the 8q bowl fits on the the 7q mixer ??
Hey, hope you are great. I got one question. Since you have the kitchenAid commercial and the Proline, what do you think the differences are, and which would you prefer or in comparison which is the best choice? Thanks for your answer!
Very informative, thanks and God bless
Cant wait to see you do a true review. In the end I would love to know which one will be your all purpose favorite. Bread, pizza dough, cookies, pasta, meat grinder. Over the years do you find yourself going to multiple equipment or do you find yourself pulling out one?
Hmmm... I *doubt* this is their NEW, 7-Quart [NON Pro-Line] stand mixer, Model KSM70 (with a 'new-improved' AC motor) and *11* Speeds [there's a ½-speed "designed for folding", okay...] - which I presume you would've noticed, and called-out. Also, the new 7-Quart model comes with a *Double* Flex Edge Beater, and stainless steel flat beater, dough hook, and pastry beater; but the 11-wire S/S whip appears to be the same as supplied elsewhere, where the hub is an alloy (zinc, aluminum, etc.) and NOT the ALL-S/S NSP, elliptical-shaped version - as was included with your pack-up. (With refurbished units, all bets are off as to what 'accessories' are supplied). It does APPEAR to be a Pro-Line KSM7586, which utilizes the same DC Motor and transmission as their 8-Quart Commercial stand mixer. Look underneath and see what 'Model' they assigned to it.
I've never heard of the "Black Crinkle" color, either - which, frankly doesn't mean anything. Their black matte finish is called just that: Black Matte. On the other hand, KA loves to add colors to their line-up, so who knows - Black Crinkle may be a new color. To my knowledge, in their 123 year history, their color palette (of current, specialized and discontinued colors) for countertop appliances now numbers *122* - and I doubt it's complete.
Congrats on the addition to your KA family.
You are correct--the box of this mixer is labeled REFURBISHED. The mixer you mention is some kind of Special Edition mixer. I was sure tempted to buy the mixer based on price, and all the bowl accessories that were included and free shipping. The half speed for folding and the double flex edge beater look great in the video. KitchenAid is now sold out of these mixers, the phrase touchpoints is just a gimmick without explanation.
@@russ5024 Hello, today I received the 7 qt with the new premium touchpoints. It came with a ss 11 wire whisk - (Whisk has NSF markings too) the double edge scraper seems to be aluminum, the bowl is ss as are the other paddles and dough hook. the motor (to my untrained ear) is definitely quieter than my beloved artisan 5 qt. the fold speed is wonderfully gentle. I am really happy with mine. It seems theyve done a good job. I asked them about the "premium touchpoints" and the person who answered at that time claimed its upgraded nobs. But someone else got an answer that it was about the upgraded motor and the 1/2 speed. 'It seems to depend on who is answering.
@@sascha1167 Congrats to you in now owning this mixer! Has KitchenAid asked you to post a review? I hope you post in the future how it handles making bread or pasta dough.
@@russ5024 both of those are on the horizon. I will post a review on how it works out. Im super stoked. My husband raised the shelves and cabinets to make room for it. Which has sent me down the rabbit hole to reorganize EVERYTHING. at least its fun.
@@sascha1167 I wish you well with your kitchen remodel. I moved from an apt having high cabinets to a house having lower hung cabinets. I chose to buy a chrome tilt head that solves my issue and looks great too! I don't bake as much as I used to and have lost the passion I had for cake decorating.
Is the accessories of 8qt 7qt and 6qt are interchangeable?
I would call KitchenAid for compatability. The attachments for the hub should work. For anything else, there might be compatability between the 8 and 7 but probably not with the 6. KitchenAid would be the best resource for that info. Thanks for watching!
Do you think there is any way you could get your hands on a earring Luna wsm10? It seems to be a high quality option that doesn’t break the bank as bad as the equivalent hobart machine. I’d be highly interested in seeing it
Does the 7qt use metal gears? Thanks
Amy, compared to the new 7 Qt & even the 3.5 Qt Mini, That Pro 600 is sure LOUD AS HELL!!!
The NEW 7 quart mixers with the AC motors are loud, too, unlike the older ones with the DC motors.
Where did you find the 7qt for $269? I’ve been thinking about upgrading
The KitchenAid store on Ebay
GE is now selling a new mixer! One model has the ability to weigh the contents in the bowl! Very compact design, 7 qt capacity and not cheap!
I got a frosted pearl 7 qt!! :)
Do you love it?! I have it in my cart right now just waiting to checkout until I watch this video 😂
That looks like a KSM70 but the KSM70 doesn't have the flip-up attachment cover.
I love these videos
FIRST!!
@amylearnstocook can you do a video comparison of a Kitchenaid proline 7qt and Artisan 7qt? The artisan 7qt comes with all stainless steel attachments, but is $200 less, and as far as I can tell it's the same mixer, just the branding on the band that's different
Hi Jose! I only have the Proline. I believe the main difference is the Proline has a DC motor and the other one has an AC. The DC motor is quieter and has more torque.
@AmyLearnsToCook the artisan 7qt has the exact same specifications, including the 1.3HP motor. Solid stainless steel attachments, and not the taupe coloured nylon coated aluminium attachments the proline has. The only information I could find was the artisan 7qt has the exact same attachments that come standard on the commercial 8qt. I found an artisan 7qt for $200 less than the proline 7qt. And for the same mixer with better quality attachments, with the only difference I see is the name on the metal band, I find it to be a pretty good deal I can't refuse😆
Artisan 7qt model number is KSM7580, Proline 7qt is KSM7586, Heavy Duty 7qt is KSM7591. I got an answer from Kitchenaid. The Artisan 7qt was released first with its solid stainless steel attachments, then the Proline 7qt replaced Artisan, and they changed to the coated attachments, followed by Heavy Duty 7qt also with coated attachments. Artisan model has a black bowl lift handle, Proline and Heavy Duty is silver. Now I can sleep easy.
@@josemeyer7464 where did you find the 7 quart artisan? It seems to wiped off google.
And I have also a 6qt artisan with a DC motor and its quieter than ac.
How can you tell if it is a DC Motor?
You would have to look at the model number and contact KitchenAid. They should be able to tell you. Thanks for watching!
You could also just remove the top of the mixer (1 screw for the silver band and 4 screws holding the top on) and look at the motor. The DC and AC motors look completely different.
Black Krinkle is also “Imperial Black” aka Cast Iron Black
All 7qts kitchenaids that i’ve seen are dc. Except if it is a pro 600 with just an after bought 7qt bowl.
The newer 7 quart models with redesigned touchpoints have an AC motor.
@@kappadappa yes I see now. And also, just call it the “new 7 quarts” or ksm70. The redesigned “touchpoints” have nothing to do with the planetary. Its just those fancy silver knobs, lift handle knob, silver front hub screw, etc.
@@luisocamp2753 I agree, but most of the time people don't know what I'm talking about unless I mention the "touchpoints"
@@kappadappa but the new 7qt AC without the “premium touchpoints” mentioned in amazon how bout that? Just say new 7qt with “AC” motor is already the dead giveaway to know what u talkin bout.
I am not sure the ProLine ever came in black.
My Pro 600 is very loud also..........wish it had the DC motor!
My Pro 600 from 2021 is also kinda loud!
❤
Thank you. Merry Christmas
Maybe I should get the refurbished 7 Qt ProLine Stand Mixer instead.
As long as it has the DC motor.
@@perniciouspete4986That’s what I want! I want a DC Motor Stand Mixer!
When is the Review? 👀
It is coming up soon! Stay tuned! I wish that I could make videos faster but I work a full time job. I am anxious to see how it performs. Thanks for watching!
I understand @@AmyLearnsToCook . I am so excited for that video 💙
I want an 8 qt
Why pay that much more and not gain any more usable capacity? The bowl is just taller. Both 7 & 8 qt mixers use the same flat beaters, whips and dough hooks. I do like that the 8 qt bowls are stackable, that is the only feature difference worth noting. The 8 qt bowl will fit this mixer.
Or a 20 quart
@@EricLearnstoCook If I were running a bakery business I would consider getting a mixer that big or have 4 ovens in my kitchen 🙂😊😉
@@EricLearnstoCook ,maybe an 80 Qt!
@@russ5024 The 8 quart comes with the stainless steel whisk, paddle and dough hook, though. I like that the 7 quart ProLine has a 5 year warranty (compared to 2 years for the Commercial 8 quart). I'd likely get the ProLIne and then upgrade to stainless steel tools, as I've seen comments about the coating chipping from coated tools. Also, I've read a couple of reviews where the handle on 8 quart mixer became detached.

Why would you leave this comment on here? Like a flea on a dogs back hitching a free ride and sucking the life out of something that is not yours.
not finding a single 7 quart refurbished mixer on the ebay , must have sold out
This time of the year at the price Amy stated, they sell fast!
