I tried it and right away, my iron became clean. This cleaning is the fastest without making a mess like all the other videos using toothpaste and salt or baking soda and water. Glad I stumbled across your video. I’m subscribing to your channel❤
Thank you so much for your hint. I had a buildup of stitch witchery on my iron, and this hint helped tremendously!
Cheers to us geminis
Thank you, very slick!
I had burned cloth from a pair of shorts on my brand new iron & I thought it was ruined but, I tried the magic eraser & it WORKED!! Thanks so much....I am a happy camper :)
Perfect. Short..sweet..and right to the point. All other videos are so long with useless stuff and tons of yapping. Thanks again.
It’s a miracle!! THANK YOU!
Thank you !! You rock !! I was on the fence, and was pleasantly surprised! You made my night ❤❤❤
I just tried this method & IT WORKS LIKE A CHARM!! Thank GOD I watched your videos! Thank you so muchhhhhhh for sharing!!!
You're welcome!
Thumbs up. Now y didn't I think of that?!?! I love those sponges
I inherited my moms iron and it needs help! Going to try this out tonight.
Wow! That was so easy and soooo much easier than other methods. Thanks for the tip -it works!
Worked great! Thanks! It did take me a good 15 minutes of going back and forth in every direction and rewetting the magic eraser several times. But the sole looks brand new!
This is great and so easy!
WHAT THE WHAT?!?!? That's it!?!? I'm mad bc my iron has been dirty for six months and I refuse to us it...and I have a huge box of those mr clean thingies!! Thanks for the life changing video!
Thank you Vanessa really helped!!!
Awesome idea! I will have to try it!
I will never understand why people would do a thumbs down on such a great tip.
I had a LOT of gummy build up (from accidentally touching iron on tape I think) and this took some extra elbow grease, but it really came clean. For the indented areas of my iron, I cut off a small square, wet it, held it with a needle nose pliers and I was able to rub those areas clean also. Thanks for a great tip!!
did work... took me a while, but did work! yay! whew! thanks so much for posting this! :)
Define a while lol - I have some $11 iron that may not be worth the while
Now why did I not think of this. Brilliant!
Now that's a great tip! Going upstairs to my sewing room to clean mine right now.
Thank you for sharing!!!!
Thanks so much for the hint!
Thank you so much for this!!! My husband just bought me a Shark iron (I don't get many expensive new things lol) and I used too much heat and got red burn patches on it. This method got rid of them! I never would have thought of this. Thanks so much again.
June16 here-thanks for the tip.
Thank you so much for this timely tip. I was just using my iron lately and saying I need to clean it but how!!! You are such a blessing to us all as well as your family!!!
I saw you do this a while ago, I can't remember when, and ever since then I've been cleaning my iron with the magic eraser!! I used to buy the hot iron cream and it stunk up my entire craft room!!! thank you!!
Yea, I wrote a blog post on it over 3 years ago. Thought it would be a perfect Thread It Thursday episode so I made a video on it. Glad it works for you too! :)
Yea it's great!!!!
Just tried this on my iron which was long over due for a cleaning and it removed quiet a lot of the build up, will have to do it again later in the day to get the rest off. I thought my iron was ruined and that I'd have to purchase a new one now that worry is gone. Thanks for this video post 🙌
Great tip Vanessa.....Thanks Dee
Trying this NOW!!! Thanks
You solved a never ending problem. Thanks!
OMG! Its work!!! After try using aspirin, salt, backing soda. This tips work very well :))) thanks!!!!
Yay! Glad to help!
I just bought a new iron and was driving myself nuts with paranoia about getting it dirty with fusible interface and batting, now I can relax because I know I'll be able to get it clean again. Thanks!
I've done this and the Magic Eraser works great. Thanks for sharing.
Have to try this one...looks nice and easy !
This came right on time for me. I was just wondering how I was going to clean my iron about 3 hours ago. Now I know and can be ready for my classes on Saturday. Thanks

Thank you for this great tip! The best one I've seen for cleaning your iron.
A cleaning miracle - thank you so much!
Good idea.
Thank you 😊
totally Works thank you
Great tip thanks, it works using any sponge scourers, my iron is 6 months old and somehow got fused with a synthetic material that could not be removed, iv'e used your method using the scourer on the rough side and some elbow force, its worked well and like new again. once again thank you for your tip and Happy Holidays.
Brilliant... worked like a charm!!!
You're awesome!!
That's such a great ideal. Thank you.

Great tip Vanessa and I thank you :-)!
You always have useful tips, TFS!
Awesome! That worked perfectly!!!
Looks like it is working. Took off about 95% of the gunk. Will do it again later.
omg tnx for this! I use to do the other way around! I scrub the iron with a sponge!
Amazing!!!
OMGoodness!! I can't wait to try this! Thank you!
Just last night I gunked mine up even more with some fusible batting. Thanks for this video, I can't wait to go get a magic eraser to try this!!!
I will say, a long time ago I tried something similar with a generic magic eraser and it didn't work at all. I am going to get the name brand and I hope for the best
How did it work?
Thanks for this. Worked great. Did try with a generic version & started breaking apart very quickly, but name brand works very well, especially, if you keep it clean & not wait over a year 😂
Thank you
I tried it and it worked, yippee !!!
Great tip!!! I will definitely try this on my iron :)
That's freakin awesome!!
Thanks.
It works! Amazing. Thank U!
Awesome! Thanks so much for sharing!!
i love magic eraser, but never thought of that, tfs

I love all your videos. Most detailed & so easy to understand. p.s. I just uploaded your app to my phone. Thanks! ;)
OMGosh! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you are amazing thanks
that's cool
WOW, thank you Vanessa, my iron always gets so messy especially with my applique!
Qué genial truco!!! Muchas gracias!!!!
Thanks for this. Strangely this worked for me on low temperature, around 140C I think. Didn't work at high temp.
I guess my error was using an off-brand magic eraser because it melted onto the sole-plate of the iron. I suppose you should only use Mr. Clean brand.
I've wondered about the Magic Eraser damaging the non-stick part as well
Thanks so much! I have to try this! Awesome, V. :)
Whew! Just in time! Working on my Loraine bag and had iron drag problems from mishaps with stabilizer glue. Thank you for posting this lifesaver!
Damn good tip...your student Bill
Good tip!!, thanks :)
hey if you don't have a magic eraser then you can also use ibuprofen. also works wonders
Great tip, never thought of using that! Thanks! And Magic Erasers are cheap, I get them for $1/box! :)
Back in the day we used salt and paper. Ut still works! Lol. Like this or reply if you know what I mean! Throw back '90's! (: lol
You can buy melamine sponges on eBay for real cheap. I bought 60 for $13 a couple of years ago. They aren’t as good as the name brand but served their purpose.
Hello. Since I'm not in the USA can you tell me what are those sponges for? Cleaning dishes or chalk board? Love your videos and have been learning so much from you. Thank you so much!!
Mr. Clean Magic Eraser is a wonderful cleaning product that has endless uses. It's great for cleaning your walls, floors, cabinets, tubs, sinks.. It's uses are almost endless and there are NO CHEMICALS! So far, it's never damaged a thing I've used it on and I use them a lot.
That was up
Hi that was quick & Efficient but i wanna know is dis magic eraser a normal sponge or some special kind of sponge & Where can i find it since it's not available in grocery stores nearby
Great idea. I wish I had known before I bought a new iron. I was wondering where you got your mini iron?
You me tion you can use that same Magic Eraser for a couple of more uses. So you just soak it after is done and it will bd good to go?
