    Awesome!
How much are those cymbal lathe machines going for?

I had to make mine myself. Around $1000 to build it.

I use 1/2" carbide bits mounted in some galv tubing, using hex bolts that are threaded into the galv tube.

If you lathe off small flea bites off two hi hats, is there a big change in tone?

Not if there's very little material lost in the process.

I am having trouble creating the "backing plate" out of wood. Have you tried making one out of concrete or some kind of material that can be easily molded by an existing cymbal? Carving out a piece of wood seems like too much work! Do you have any suggestions? Thanks for your time!

      Plywood? Jigsaws

I used a router that was centrally mounted to cut the wood (mdf or 5 ply) into a perfect circle. I glued two pieces together to give it more strength and mass.

Ok it's been over 9 years, I don't think this guy is answering y'all questions... Actually it's been 12 years, and that mask is good for WW1?

Yeah, I had some issues with being able to respond to comments an youtube after I uploaded this video. The mask has vapour and dust filters and of course eye protection. Better a mask than the myriad of lung conditions you may get without one.
