- You've been asking for an FPV swappable fuselage, so we thought we'd bring back the Fowl Flyer! A smaller foam board version of the original. This scratch built cargo flyer is designed to fit with your swappable fuselage!

You guys need a TV show, love your work.
It would be really cool to see you guys build some passenger airplanes like the Boeing 747 and such. With swappable power packs of course. That would be so awesome! With Peter loving passenger planes so much I am sure that he will be a great inspiration to the project.
passenger air planes have jets no props
another great plane guys!!!! i once had a full 50 sheet case of foamboard but thanks to you guys and ed at expirimental airlines its almost gone!!!! almost time for another HK order too!!! cant wait for the plans and the build vid! keep up the great work! Gary
Way to go fellas, good design for fpv. You can dampen the wing rock by either adding longer wings or adding dihedral plus longer wings. Slow flight performance will also be enhanced. You might want to make removable wing extensions too. Just a few design ideas.
This design works great using the Hobbyking KK board flashed with OpenAero firmware for stabilization!
Altijd als eerste op de scène met de positieve, constructieve opmerkingen. Nice one bro, ga zo door met het goede werk!
It depends.
I have flown quite a distance with 2.4 reciever and antenna inside a foam body.
It might be wrong. But it is being working up to 500+ meters.
definitely want to get into FPV! looks amazing guys! always look forward to your videos!
you should extend the wings 8-10 inches out on each wing, add the i86 stabilizer, and that thing would be the FPV master! I think the reason it wing rocks and is so susceptible to the wind is because of the fact that the wings are so stubby. Thats also why it rolls really fast.
wow, you guys are sure keeping us busy!
The wings are full straight. Would a little bit of dihedral on the wings help stabilize that rocking on this particular build? It would make the build process more difficult of course. If not, I would like to see a FliteTest video with a KK2 or EagleTree Guardian stabilizer on it. I'd be pretty impressed to see electronics compensate for that amount of rocking.
Translated for others to read. Here is what Sven has to say. Real nice guy huh.
"Yup, instead of their ass to crawl because they enjoy doing interesting with a camera crew and hobby king, I just say what I think. This makes a different to my videos too."
The payload capacity is cool. Good job.
Cleanliness is between cleavage and claustrophobia, goggles is next to godliness, it's in the dictionary, LOL.
I love the old josh
Another great video guys. I hope you continue to make many more.
Dear Flitetest,
I was wondering if you bought the FPV goggles that you wore in this viedo, or if you made them out of skiing goggles? If you made them, I'd love to see a build video!
Great channel!!!
Cool Video Guys! For the wind, you guys might want to check out the "Armin Wing Tip Dihedral" video and add some dihedral to those wings!
Im Thankful for Flite Test
The fuselage almost resembles Santa's sleigh. Possibly add a stuffed santa and it would look really good. maybe a mod for the Christmas season huh boys?
May I ask something? Is that field near Chads home or like outside his home? The crew assembles there every shooting day?
SWEET! Low invert there lol you guys have a ''HAPPY THANKSGIVING'' too!
Since the version 2 have only one rudder, have you guys thought about making a coupler linkage system to make the second rudder the slave. That way you only need one servo. Don"t know if that 9G will have the torque for both rudders.
I noticed the one model had tip fences installed. Did that help with the rocking?
Happy thanksgiving to you guys. Great video
The 3 wheeler looked to be a Can Am Spyder. Really nice setups, but boy are they expensive! I ride a motorcycles as 100% transport, I've met a few folks/couples riding them. They love them!
They're also made by Polaris and Polaris calls them slingshots I saw a whole fleet of 50 on the road the other day on the way to a show
@flitetest
Good video but maybe it's worth mentioning that you should never put your 5.8 GHz or 2.4 GHz antenna in your plane because of the bad signal penetration. With 900MHz and 1.2/1.3 GHz it's not a problem.
Cool small planes!
Maybe rocking from the wind due to large side surface area of fuselage and double rudder, again large surface area for crosswind to hit?
Make the rudders smaller and/or fuselage slightly smaller if you dont mind less authentic looks?
kool plane but i like the first front nose it is much more solid for the gopro hero 3 black edition since it is so expensive i dont want any mishaps. well great build again guys. keep it up!!
do you guys keep the paper on the foam when making planes?
I want a "camera plane". I don't have FPV equipment and usually fly alone. This Fowl Flyer is a nice design but the wingspan is much to short for me to see it well. What about a design for people like me with tired eyes?
+D. Kruger Just make the wings longer.
im curious about the fpv goggle mod i see. could you elaborate on how/ what you did there? -Joe
How can i buy plain from you guys can you check that for me i cant get to order and i would like a couple. Plase let me know thank you
Whats that FPV system with the googles? (I'm new to RCing) and could i put an fpv system in a super cub?
how about a nice and stiff bellcrank setup so that you can turn both the rudders with a single servo? its practically just as cheap, but its a whole lot cooler
@2:40 if you cut the stab without the rudder shorter it should eliminate the differential between the left and right turns? Try it!
How are you transmitting video from the GoPro to FPV goggles?
I love what you did guys, great work guys.
And as always love your videos keep them coming and keep flying
What kind of glue and foam should I use when trying to put one of these together?
I was about to go work on my 5 foot wingspan foamboard fpv plane, then I saw this video and said "screw it, time for flitetest!"
Love your channel guys and have been watching it for a few years now! And there is one issue i can see needs attention , and that is your takeoff area! How about an episode that shows us how to construct a runway using materials such as weed supressant material or anything else you can come up with that isn't too expensive! Thanks guys :-)
i know you guys have a lot of talent building these planes so i recently built a rocket powered me-163 designed by Alexander Lippisch in 1939 (also know as the komet).
i made mine from Styrofoam and depron but it is a almost like the real thing the only difference is the material size and im using a solid fuel estes rocket motor and if you guys could build something similar it would be great. here is a link to where i got the basic shape of the wing and fuse.......
The video and sound are not synced together
obRCmania RUclips glitch I've had that a few times. It should fix eventually
What fpv goggles are they using?
I was going to say block the tips...but you could test this idea by blocking one and seeing wht happens etc...Hoerner tip??...waiting for the plans...Thx...Laurie
Do you have some info on your fpv setup? I'm interested where did you get those mx fpv goggles.
Thank You!
Where con I buy this foam for the swappable planes in Europe ?
Depends on what part of Europe. But do a Google search. Basically all it is, is foam with a paper covering.....If in the UK, Maybe the Pound store has it....
im a big fan :) just interested would you bulid a ww2 fighter swappable? like a spitfire, me109 or mustang? and if you guys fancy a challenge try making the horton flying wing? i would actually build all of them if you did... take care from the uk x
Sweet . Gonna try it for sure thanks
U got new ground station?
what kind of goggles where those and could you connect them to a AR DRONE ??
It's a Can-am by Bombardier. The three Wheller.
Happy Thanksgiving :)
That reverse three wheeler is a Can Am Spyder. You should've buzzed it :-)
they have said before: "lightly mist the spray paint over the foam in many light layers. Don't put it all on in one coat."
Hope that helps.
What motor size should I use for it? And speed control?
go to the flite test store sight and use the same stuff in the "power pack B"
I see knoptop =) What a legend!
Happy Thanksgiving!!! Great work!! I actually was thinking the same as what AceMcMoron's comment.. It might be worth to try the Hobbyking 3-axis stabilizer that I saw from one of your subscriber? That looks good and also not so expensive as you all wants to make the cost cheap and make it better experience with FPV.. just a thought.. still, very good!!!
Does any one have any ideas? what would be a good beginer plane which can handle the wind?
What size do I need to take for my foam boards.
Nice Job,guys!!
What camera do you use on the plane?
I think it is a GoPro Hero 1 or 2.
Hey Chad,
How about Josh Scott designs and builds his own plane no help?
I miss this intro in the new videos ;-;
the reverse three wheeler is called a can am roadster
Little Josh is really getting brace with his boss there.
You guys have my dream job.
That is, assuming you make a livable wage from these videos...
don't forget the dam lunch hehehe happy flying !!
AWESOME GUYS!!!
The fowl flyer was kind of cool with the turkey and the joystick, but this smaller version is rubbish. For FPV you want a stable platform not a rocking chair with wings. But despite the above mentioned I enjoy watching the show. Maybe next time you can scratch build something thats actually aerodynamic though
Thank you. I search on Google and find several websites who sold some.
little bit longer wing will take out a lot of the wobbles...nice cargo plane..
JOSH SCOTT comic relief. nice job, guys.
great video
Dear Josh, could you make a tutorial to show how you upgraded your fatshark into the ski goggles? I'm sure most of fatshark users would much appreciate!
What about a brush motor plane ?
I have thought about this a while every time I see a FPV video and I guess here it is. You don't have to fly FPV to get great footage you can get a camera that can record to a sd card less then $50 make some great videos
awesome, ive built it, flown it lost it and built it again!
Cool plane and they are funny together lol
nvm. it wont let me put the link on just type in "ME-163 PDF plans) it should pop up with R/C groups.
That's great !
This plane will be perfect with a AS3X Spektrum Receiver AR635
Hi,josh my name is conrad otero i was a member of test fly,,i moved to BOLIVIA SOUTH AMERICA
that would be cool!!
In your opinion, do you think the $1 of advertising money you get from youtube ads is worth forcing 11,000 viewers to sit through them? Or would you be better of finding a different, unobtrusive revenue stream.
It's a canal roadster
You saw a Spyder on the road.
Use the gopro 3 with remote instead
wheres the turkey?
Yup, in plaats van in hun reet te kruipen omdat ze lekker interesant doen met een camera crew en hobbyking, zeg ik gewoon wat ik ervan vind. Dat doet een ander bij mijn videos ook.
Original plane !
kineked a wire to the other rudder then both turn with one servo
Yep
close to plane I want to make :>)… needs longer tail!
Lunch delivery service! LOL.
Lol.
like to see a smaller fuse on it lol
plain not so good but you guys are really funny .
They should've put a cornish hen in the cockpit to make a true-to-scale representation of the original plane.
