Primitive off grid log cabin Installing a Window

  • Finally installing a window. I can really use the light from it.
    We are using 6x6 square cedar log and we are building a cabin from start.
    This will be primitive cabin , no ac but will be heated by a cubic grizzly wood stove , Lighted by propane / oil lamps.

    Nice cabin built. I'm building one of these almost to the T. Would you recommend building the structure as a box first and then cut the door and windows in or cut the logs shorter as you build up the structure? I'm building mine on a concrete slab also. Thanks for the videos on this.

    I have a question. Did the water that was coming through the walls stop? If so how did you do it. I want to build my cabin using this concept although I might use D-logs.

      the walls are soaking up the water, im trying the water sealant , like thompson or similar, but the over hangs stopped most of it

    How are the windows holding up? We’re your 6x6 kiln dried

      they are great.. the wood was dry, unsure if air or kiln

      @@Krakology usually the windows are installed on a moving frame for settling and I was curious as to how they held up. Thanks

      @@russelltomlinson2353 i havent noticed any settling at all . the place is like a fortress.. we shot 9mm and 38 into the wall and it only goes half way into it.. testing with left over blocks.... im going to try 44 mag, 556 and maybe 308
