Hello . Thanks for the great videos and recommendations . I have a 2008 XLE sienna with 170k miles that needs a front wheel Bearing, front sway links and rear shocks and 4 wheel alignment. Total of $1000. You think it’s worth fixing . Everything else with the vehicle is in great shape . Owned the car since new … thanks
Thank you man I’m having issues with the Toyota Sienna I would crank the key and nothing would happen. The lights came on inside but no start took it to Autozone the guy told me is most likely the starter. I checked the battery and transmission and he said they’re good but when it did start it would sound weak

@CashWealth In my experience, the aftermarket security system installations can be done in a sketchy manner sometimes, which causes intermittent no start, a dead car, or other odd more minor issues relating to vehicle operation. Also issues can by caused by failing components of the alarm system.
We had. 94 Honda Accord . Would turn over ,but no go !! The starter!!?? I never thought about that. Thought no spark . Changed other items . Turned around and sold it. Daughtry got money for it. Never thought it would be the starter.
Hey. I need your help. My battery shows 12.6v, but won’t start until I jump start it. After jumps starting the cad runs okay for few days and the same thing happen after 4 to 5 days again. What could be the problem please?
I think i have a fuel pump issue. The vehicle stopped working while driving at 65mph. When put up on the tow truck and at an angle , the van started. Would love to get some help with replacing the fuel pump.
I have a issue with my 2012 Sienna 2.7L. All of sudden, it cranked, and didnt start. I listened for the fuel pump and that initiates when the key is turned. Full tank of gas. Drove it flawlessly 40 miles yeaterday, but after I got home, it wouldnt start. I did spray starter fuel to see if I had a timing issue, etc. but it did start and ran for a few seconds. I was thinking it may be a fuel filter, does this model have one? I checked all the fuses, nothing blown so I am kind of at a loss of why it is not getting fuel.
Hi Mate, wondering if you could shed some light on a problem that I have with a 2003 Sienna. I have spark & fuel and good compression, about 3 weeks ago I replaced the cambelt and everything has been working great, however, just the other day I started it, drove it for about a mile and then the dash lights came on for about 2 seconds and then it died on me and now cannot start it, battery is good and it is cranking over, do you have any ideas.
My Seinna is making the same sound as this van. Took out the starter and took it to Autozone and their test said it was good. Any idea why its not working when in the van. The battery is new.

My sienna stalled out on me. It would not turn back on. Nothing in the van would turn on not even the lights. I cleaned the battery posts and cables, and it still didn't do anything. I had the battery checked was told it is a good battery. Starter was replaced last year and so was battery. Put battery back in and it started right up with no problem. I have 2005 Toyota Sienna Le. Battery has been bad for a while but still always started. Recently the van was used to jump an older Toyota Tacoma (which never started.) The Tacoma is a clutch so it started thru pushing. The van was following the Tacoma to the Auto Zone and after engine shut off it wouldn’t restart. We tried jumping it but the power from the car didn’t jump the van at all. Auto zone tested battery and said it was shot. I went and purchased a new battery but decided to start the van before replacing the battery. The van started up. We figured we’d replace the battery anyhow because we needed a new one anyway. Car will not start at all now. Have any idea what could be wrong? Starter, alternator, relay, battery cables, etc.?
I have a 2006 sienna , ( sliding door problem ) I’ve changed the actuator the rear latch and tried 6 different door module, had it working a few times then it stopped working , what do you think it might be , all it does is open but won’t close , the buttons all work and the key fob , I’m stumped, any suggestions….:/…?
The engine was turning, it seems like the started was good. Crank no start could be the common, power, fuel, compression issue. Can you explain how this design cranks the engine but it is still the starter? Thanks!
What if it sounds like that and like it’s about to catch but doesn’t and goes back to that sound? It also died during driving? Brand new battery and 3/4 tank full.
Have an 01 Tacoma with a 3.4 V6. Had a no crank, no start issue last month. Replaced the shift lock control ecm last month and it went away. Now it is back again. starter and battery are new (1 year) and have been checked. Any ideas where to turn? Thanks for your help
What is the proper spec for fuel pressure measured at the Fuel Rail on a 2006 Toyota Sienna with a 3.3L V6 ? I hooked up my gauge at the banjo bolt and measured 48 PSI - it took about 30 seconds to reach that pressure (I guess the system was clear of fuel and with the engine just started the fuel had to fill the rail.) I have seen different specs but nothing specific to this vehicle and this measurement location. I am diagnosing a couple issues - acceleration is not what I think it should be, my short and long term fuel trims are +4 and +8 on both bank 1 and bank 2. My A/F sensors seem like they are working (although one looks better than the other ) - they are switching back and forth and my short term trim is following along with the sensor. My Back pressure test on the Cats show that the cats are not clogged - I do have a 420/430 code set - it does go away at times. My MAF readings seem to show low air volume at idle - but I have no leaks (tested with propane all around - no leaks found.), I changed the MAF with a new one anyway - same thing except the old one had lower trim adjustments and indicated slightly less air flow. I replaced my VVT oil screens . These are the last two things I need to clear up .. so I thought ok I will check fuel pressure ...
I have Toyota sienna not starting after flooded.I was in the car when came into flooded water. Water was filled in up until my shoes dipped into that level .after 15-20 min water we pushed the car and pulled in to safe area and not starting now. What could be an issue. Mechanic said the computer module is bad but not starting.
Excellent video. My 2004 Sienna starter/solenoid jumper wire had corroded and broke at the point where the jumper exits the starter; but the starter motor and solenoid were otherwise ok. Not sure what to do with that condition; if jumper can be replaced or repaired. I'll give it a go and see what happens. Any advice would be appreciated.
1973deepee ..if I understand this correctly..would need a starter assembly as they are integral to each other...stick with a DENSO brand (OE) original..otherwise risky quality with other brands...keep me posted...good luck !~~Frank
I checked several sources, local and online, and found that I would have to wait several days to get a Denso starter (per your advice). As I already had the starter/solenoid apart I decided to proceed with replacing the jumper wire to see if I could make it work reliably and safely while I wait for a rebuilt Denso from Rock Auto. Used a 14 gauge multi-strand wire, stripped of insulation, and configured a crimp onto what was left of the jumper terminal on the starter end; then crimped a ring terminal on the other end to connect to the solenoid stud and, voila'! Works great. Not really a permanent fix, but it works fine while I wait for replacement. Thank you, Frank, for your thoughtful consideration and advice.
Hey I have a 2012 Toyota sienna 4cyl I have put in a new starter which I thought would fix the problem but didn't all I get when I turn the key is whining sound what can I do next need some ideas can you help.
Good Evening sir I have Toyota Sienna 2004 somebody was trying to open the door and since I cannot lock the door from inside when I go out the car always gate lock and unlock do you have any idea what this is and thank you
Are you still replying to comments here. My 2016(?) Sienna had a dead battery due to lack of use from lockdown. I hooked my charger up to it and had it on start mode. When I go to start, it only clicks n ticks repeatedly. It's a keyless ignition. I had to press start button a second time to get the clicking to stop. Since then, no power door locks, etc. Can't lock/unlock minivan with the key fob. Is there a fuse ?
Test that battery at local parts store ~ more than likely need recharge or replace ~ if didn’t help ~ reach out and we will do our best to walk you through it ~ good luck ! Glad your slowly getting out of COVID mode 👊
@@Desertcarcare wow! Thanks man! You're awesome! I just got done messing with it. It's good to go now. Idk what the problem was. But I left it charging for a couple more hours, cleaned the terminals but had to use my hard key to unlock it. But it fired up , like new and after that, my key fob /auto unlock feature works again. I thought I might have fried that fuse in positive battery terminal but I checked with multimeter and it was good. Anyway, thanks again for your reply. ..new subscriber here, btw
thank you great video, any idea why my 2002 Toyota Sienna starts sometimes and sometimes couldn't get it to start, get up to go to work and it wouldn't, I try to jump it nothing later in the day my son went in the car put in the key and it startup
Absolutely make certain able connections to the battery are not corroded or loose - if we have a known good connection there - that starter could be the culprit - hard to say without a bonifide test of that circuit - wish you the best here !
My 08 sienna started with an oil problem. Had all the seals replaced on oil and transmission system. Lights were still on. Check engine vsc and tracking off lights, asked the dealership to make sure those lights were reset and nothing was wrong. They did..and for two days, it was fine. Then, my lights amongst others (ans, air bags battery) came on ad well after I replaced starter ( which I was having ti tap to start)...replaced starter...good for two days, now. All kinds of lights are on, and the speedometer is going everywhere it seems like an alternator problem now...four thousand dollars later...I'm losing my mind from this. Xan you help me? It's an 2008 yoyota sienna le.
My sienna won't start and when I put the key in the on position, I hear a humming noise coming from the engine. Sounds like it is coming from the on top on the engine. When attempting to start, you hear nothing but the humming. Now the headlights or dash lights don't dim when you attempt to start the car but the clock and the lights on the middle console due turn off when attempting to start. Battery is 2 months old and a jump start produces the same results.
2004 Sienna XLE, Starting not work. New battery, new starter. After Replaced used transmission. Turn the key to start, Just Humming sound. Dash, light is good. Test key is good
Wow - this will be tough to offer up help here - gotta dive in to that circuit and test - get back to basics and ensure the circuit integrity is good to go - sorry can’t help much without diving in to test it ...
I have an unusual starter problem. I was leaving the house and started the car a 2006 Sienna. The engine stopped right after it started. Probably didn't crank long enough. I turned the key again and all I heard was the starter motor turning but the engine was not turning. I removed the starter and tested it and the bendix gear jump out like it's supposed to. I put it back on the car and still wouldn't crank the engine. I measured the distance to gear came out from the starter to the part that goes to the engine block and it is 3 1/8 inches and it's the same from the engine block to the far edge of the ring gear. I was stumped. I went and got a new starter and didn't think it would work but had to find out so I got it knowing I couldn't return it. The new one did the same thing. Starter motor would run but doesn't crank engine. I checked the flywheel and no teeth were missing and the ring gear was tight on the flywheel. I called the dealer and the service guys thought it was strange but didn't know what the problem was. Any ideas about what the problem is?
oshpunit987 ~ strange no doubt. If flywheel teeth are good to go ~ I hate to say it , it has happened to us in the garage ~ bad new starter ? I have found AISIN /DENSO in this case to be more reliable ~ I wish I had a better and easier way out to suggest ~ but it sounds like that may be the case ~ you can always call us at the garage for deeper help over the phone ~ good luck here and for all of us here ~ please do let us know what the resolve was ~ Frank
Could you please tell me where the neutral safety switch is on a 2006 Toyota Sienna, and maybe give me a couple tips, I would really appreciate it, thank you very much
Mark Quinlan ~ Try shifting through all the gears a few times, then try cranking the engine. For sensors that have multiple internal switches, doing that turns them on and off multiple times, and that can get a switch with pitted or arced contacts working again for a little while -otherwise locate it on top of the transmission for replacement ~ MAKE sure to test it to confirm this is the actual problem ~ call us at the garage anytime for help.
Gained access to the starter gave it for good tops with a hammer and it started, I'm feeling better right now knowing that the starter is the culprit, there is absolutely no room for gaining access disease harnesses and I was dreading but it was a fusible link somewhere, from the charts I have looked at their is like three of them and I was worried about that hundred 40 amp main being blown out, thanks again I couldn't find a wiring diagram anywhere on the internet for this thing other than black and white with no colors
Check main fuse . This is designed to protect the circuit. If it burnt out - will cause voltage concern . Designed to protect the system. Good luck here !
Hey my 2004 Toyota Sienna won’t crank. It is not turning over, not clicking, lights come on, but it just makes a humming noise. What could that be? Please help! Mom of 4 w/ live in niece! Van is crucial for day to day life.
Dude..I have an auto gear car n my battery died..so I replaced it with a new battery but still the car wont start..theres just a "click" sound coming out of the engine n thats all the moto doesnt turn..should I try jump starting the car n would it work?
Went to start my 2011 Toyota Sienna and had no power check the battery and Battery was good. I messed around with the starter tapping it best I could without breaking anything apart. Tried starting it again and this time it turned over but only making clicking noise any idea?
it real helpful, I have a Toyota Sienta X LIMITED 2005 1.5L Auto, It start but the silence decrease then its switched off its self. I try to check plug, coils and battery are all fine. This start when my battery was dry and I bust it 3 times in different days. the 4th day I leave it for 5 days without start the engine and the day I bought a new battery and replace the old one is where this problem start. I wont start without press accelerator then it develop a missing then it turn off itself.
I changed all the plugs on 2004 Toyota sienna and I did Mark all my lines to make sure that I would put everything back in the right place. I took for a test drive it running good I got to my garage and it died. I took the cover to make that I didn't forget to connect a hose or anything and everything seems to in place. Why did it died
Upon changing the radiator on 2006 Toyota Sienna LE and filled up with proper coolant, it did start the engine. Then after removing the air trapped in the radiator, engine would not start? What seems to be the problem? Appreciate your advice.
Hey i have a 2006 sienna le. I changed the starter and brought a new battery but now my Sienna starts but it seems like there isnt enough voltage running throughout the car. Headlights come on but is very dim but when I step on the gas, the headlight brighten up. Plus rpm idles very low aroun 200-300. Any idea what the cause may be?

My 2018 sienna won't start up. When I hold down the start button, the ac vent area makes a nonstop clicking sound, but the engine doesn't start. The battery is fully charged so it's not the battery. I don't know anything about cars or fixing stuff so this looks too complicated for me.. car won't start so I can't drive to a mechanic.
Thanks for the video, however my Toyota Noah vehicle cranks and starts when it's hot or warmed up but wont start when it's cold. what do you think the problem could be?
Hello, my sienna 2015 will not crank at all only click sound from the starter, and all lights hoes of when starting, please explain what might be wrong, thanks
Dotune Peters ~~if you are getting voltage to the starter & you are hearing a click ~~that starter may be defective. Slightly tap on the starter enough to possibly free it up and fire up the engine. Give this a shot ~~Frank
Hello my 06 to Toyota Sienna ce start but after I drive 5 minutes thn I park it it won’t start it doesn’t stop at the road only if I take out the key it won’t start again after 1 day I bought new battery but still same and it also doesn’t show me and problems on the screen
2004 Toyota Sienna not functioning properly. It starts but it's not supplying electricity to the car. The brake is not working. Navigation screen not working either. I can also see almost all the lights showing at the same time. ABS and the Engine light as well
I got a 04 Toyota Sienna the battery light is on. It will only make it down the road before battery dies. Just replaced the battery went an got the alternator tested an it passed. Also replace the battery cable connecters. Did not replace the cables. What could it be??
I have a '06 Sienna that died on the road today. It is a crank no start situation. I cannot seem to identify whether it is a fuel or spark issue, the starter doesn't seem to be noisy and the car died on the road so the starter doesn't seem to be the problem. I cannot seem to identify the issue, but since it died on the road, the cooling fan runs constantly when you turn car to ON or ACC, despite the fact that the car won't full start. Need some help.
Frustrating no doubt. So much it may be --aargh --love to help you out --so try a few things : 1) Cooling fans may be giving us a clue --may not --check that cooling fan relay to ensure it is not stuck to power all the time; do not believe this is causing your crank no start situation though--maybe. 2) Inspect fuel delivery --you can cheat very very carefully --a slight spray of starting fluid in the throttle tubing---be careful not to over do it here --if it fires up and runs for a moment --we have a fuel deliver issue--continue on with inspection of primary voltage to fuel sending unit --12 volts etc--if no voltage --check fuse and relay for that pump circuit. 3) If priming a bit does not start the vehicle --check for ignition ---carefully without zapping yourself check for spark --if no spark --then check all connections grounds -battery voltage etc ---defective crankshaft sensors can cause no spark and fuel injector pulse as well --check the connections to that crank sensor --if we are lucky a wiggle of connector may just fire things up-- Reach me at the garage in the mornings anytime 480 726 6400 Good luck here ! --Frank
Well maybe the starter is kaput but firstly check your remote control and make sure 1 or 2 remotes have a good "button battery" and next is vehicle battery if it's clicking noise or just barely made the move, time to change the battery! It's on Toyota Sienna 2015 xle.
Toyota Sienna 2011 starter is what do I touch on the starter while somebody else is turning the starter on where do I touch on the starter starter here
anyone have an engine cylinder layout diagram for a 2008 Sienna? I have a bad #6 coil (according to the code reader), and I want to know if it's against the firewall or up front
No sweat! I gave a jump to my corolla in case of exactly like that. This is my advice where came from. In other case I just cleaned and tight up clamps on battery of my Sienna 2000, when it refused to start. Toyota is pretty tough one to kill.
It's funny, but the same thing happened to my Sienna 2000 couple hours ago on parking lot. The same sound came up but no start. I moved Clump (+) on battery clockwise/contour clockwise several times and started my car. I was almost about to call to AAA. If this happen, then from my experience it's time to look up for new battery otherwise I will stuck in no more than 2 days.

These are the last two things I need to clear up .. so I thought ok I will check fuel pressure ...
Stix ~~excellent info. Best to ring me at the garage to set a direction here . Tks
Very good video! Concise, clear and very well-presented! Thanks for the information!
Comage👍🏻
1973deepee ..rock on. Sounds like it will all work out..awesomeness.
Thanks! I thought It was timing problem. I'm going to take off starter tomorrow (08-31-2017.)
Hey I have a 2012 Toyota sienna 4cyl I have put in a new starter which I thought would fix the problem but didn't all I get when I turn the key is whining sound what can I do next need some ideas can you help.
is it closely the same with Toyota sienna 2002? and also how do you check if its a bad fuel pump on the same car I just mentioned?

@@Desertcarcare ..wilco- you too.
thank you great video, any idea why my 2002 Toyota Sienna starts sometimes and sometimes couldn't get it to start, get up to go to work and it wouldn't, I try to jump it nothing later in the day my son went in the car put in the key and it startup

I have a problem with the high and low rpm indicator after which the car stops operating. Leave it a clock if you are busy. Do you have a solution?
My sienna won't start and when I put the key in the on position, I hear a humming noise coming from the engine. Sounds like it is coming from the on top on the engine. When attempting to start, you hear nothing but the humming. Now the headlights or dash lights don't dim when you attempt to start the car but the clock and the lights on the middle console due turn off when attempting to start. Battery is 2 months old and a jump start produces the same results.
2004 Sienna XLE,
Starting not work.
I installed a new starter and it is engaging but engine will not crank. What can be my problem? 2006 toyota sienna.
Well done video
I like the it . I jump my sienna backwards and now it doesn't start. No power at all. please help. thanks
Check main fuse .
This is designed to protect the circuit. If it burnt out - will cause voltage concern .
Designed to protect the system. Good luck here !
What it would be Sienna 14 is no crank and no start? Please advise
My Toyota sienna 04 is just cranking, not starting. The throttle body is not opening, what should I do?
Hey man, how about a fuse or relay on a 99 rx 300? I can't seem to find that!
Thanks for your video

I have a Toyota Sienta X LIMITED 2005 1.5L Auto, It start but the silence decrease then its switched off its self.
Snowed today. My sienna wouldn't start. The decision tree was exact. Nothing cranked. Replaced the battery and it started.

Appreciate your advice.
victor a ...did it overheat prior to radiator install ?
Hey i have a 2006 sienna le. I changed the starter and brought a new battery but now my Sienna starts but it seems like there isnt enough voltage running throughout the car. Headlights come on but is very dim but when I step on the gas, the headlight brighten up. Plus rpm idles very low aroun 200-300. Any idea what the cause may be?
Chuck Hawj ~ Check all connections & grounds. Additionally with headlights dimming and idle concerns ~ ensure that the alternator is charging to specification ~ load test alternator .Good luck here ~ call me at the garage if needed.
Good job 👍. Positive watch
Thanks for the video, however my Toyota Noah vehicle cranks and starts when it's hot or warmed up but wont start when it's cold. what do you think the problem could be?
same problem here @desert Care care what do u think?
Same here
Hello, my sienna 2015 will not crank at all only click sound from the starter, and all lights hoes of when starting, please explain what might be wrong, thanks
Dotune Peters ~~if you are getting voltage to the starter & you are hearing a click ~~that starter may be defective. Slightly tap on the starter enough to possibly free it up and fire up the engine. Give this a shot ~~Frank
What causes sienna 2015 indicating key not detected and indicating a triangle with an !

My sienna 1999 won't start after o used it and park for a while. I have changed starter, fuel pump and plugs... Still continues
You have one for diagnosing air fuel issue?
2004 Toyota Sienna not functioning properly. It starts but it's not supplying electricity to the car. The brake is not working. Navigation screen not working either. I can also see almost all the lights showing at the same time. ABS and the Engine light as well
Please help
What year is the Sienna and how many miles?
Thank U for this help
I got a 04 Toyota Sienna the battery light is on. It will only make it down the road before battery dies. Just replaced the battery went an got the alternator tested an it passed. Also replace the battery cable connecters. Did not replace the cables. What could it be??
Are you getting 13.8 ~ 14. 2 charging volts as the vehicle is idling at the battery & did they load test the alternator ?
excellent
What if the anti-theft light is flashing and it doesn't crank? My brother's Sienna currently has this issue.

3) If priming a bit does not start the vehicle --check for ignition ---carefully without zapping yourself check for spark --if no spark --then check all connections grounds -battery voltage etc ---defective crankshaft sensors can cause no spark and fuel injector pulse as well --check the connections to that crank sensor --if we are lucky a wiggle of connector may just fire things up--

Well maybe the starter is kaput but firstly check your remote control and make sure 1 or 2 remotes have a good "button battery" and next is vehicle battery if it's clicking noise or just barely made the move, time to change the battery! It's on Toyota Sienna 2015 xle.
Toyota Sienna 2011 starter is what do I touch on the starter while somebody else is turning the starter on where do I touch on the starter starter here
Thank you
Mine is a 2004 and it keeps turning over until it burns out what is the issue please
How do I fix Sienna 2011 . Start and off after some seconds.
How to contact to you ?
Are you in Nj?
Hi I have a Toyota Sienna but it turns on but won’t start what does that mean
Video was a big help. You saved me alot of time finding my starter.
Thank you
I needed a 07 Lexus Alternator Repair and tested video
I have an 09 Sienna it starts but i have to wait before i try or it wont i just replaced the air filter box but still the same issue any thoughts
Justin Brock ~~not sure by way of your description?
That's a lotta stuff to get through to get to the starter.
What's wrong when the egnition turn and the car won't start but when you jump it starts
anyone have an engine cylinder layout diagram for a 2008 Sienna? I have a bad #6 coil (according to the code reader), and I want to know if it's against the firewall or up front
Paul Grabowski 1 3 5 =Rear Bank ; 2 4 6 Front bank (fr of vehicle)
My Toyota sienna refuses to start again what should I do?
The same noise goes for low battery voltage. Give a jump first before taking things apart.
SergSpace ~excellent advice🤜🏼🤜🏼🔧
No sweat! I gave a jump to my corolla in case of exactly like that. This is my advice where came from. In other case I just cleaned and tight up clamps on battery of my Sienna 2000, when it refused to start. Toyota is pretty tough one to kill.
SergSpace ~~ a win for us in the garage and owner of vehicle when we can give that easy fix news !!🤜🏼🤜🏼🔧 Rock on
It's funny, but the same thing happened to my Sienna 2000 couple hours ago on parking lot. The same sound came up but no start. I moved Clump (+) on battery clockwise/contour clockwise several times and started my car. I was almost about to call to AAA. If this happen, then from my experience it's time to look up for new battery otherwise I will stuck in no more than 2 days.
My car sienna 2005 but it not start what is the problem
Спасибо!)
Toyota sienna clicking sounds when attached to the charger. No turning over
On my own cars I ALWAYS install DENSO brand parts, simply the best there is
Eres un chingon 😂🎉
