    I have been watching you and Casey for years, enjoy your videos. You may remember a guy motoring past you two in the river yelling "Casey, Love your videos!" That was me. Like you, I Love the Pete. The reason much of the shoreline is undeveloped is because most of it is owned by the Wisconsin Power Company. That is the main reason they dammed up the river and created Petenwell, for Hydro electric. Many of those homes built on the Pete do not own down to the shoreline. I believe the power company owns 100ft up. They also have some great hiking trails that they allow the public to hike around the lake on that easement. You are correct, they do share common piers. Keep up the great videos and hope to see you fishing out there again!

    Hey Jim loved your review good work. I happened to punch in how big pentwell flowages is and Lake-Link Wisconsin popped up they have reports from late October of this year of people catching 50 to 100 walleyes a day. Sounds like they're biting everywhere just going nuts. Just thought I'd share that with you enjoy all your videos good fishing always sincerely Record 🎣

    This is good info .The big reason there were only 39 homes on petenwell is the power company owned most. Of the land around it.Then about 15 years ago they sold the land to another company before the sale they put up 400 lot for sale. Keeping a 50 foot space between the lake and lots.As for musky this lake is the number 1 lake in the state.

    Excellent video! I’m a local and have fished Petenwell and C Rock as a kid. 3 questions for you.
    How does navionics get the mapping contours?
    Why are the steep break lines attractive to the fish?
    Would you analyze Lake Dubay please I live a block from it and really have a tough time. Blessings to you!

    • @StructureFishing
      @StructureFishing  2 года назад +1

      Navionics has a team of boats with special transducers when they go out and map a lake. The breaklines act like roads and paths for the fish. Check out some other videos on this channel, classroom or the workshop. I'd recomend buying Buck Perris book or home study course.

      No, never ice fished there. If i did make an ice fishing trip, Petenwell would be at the top of the list.

      They’re nowhere near as numerous as walleyes, but I’ve always had luck with crappies on grubs out there. If you’re trolling they’ll bite a crank if they’re big enough.

    • @StructureFishing
      @StructureFishing  Год назад

      IMO, it has a very small population. The majority of muskies that are caught, are caught towards the headwaters and in the river portion. I've caught (3) during my 30 + years fishing here.

    In your experience are walleye willing to come up and hit a suspending lure, or do you really need to be down there amongst the timber. I’m considering replacing my treble hooks with light wire Aberdeen hooks.

    • @StructureFishing
      @StructureFishing  15 дней назад

      At times they will come up, but not that often on Petenwell. Some areas are very snaggy. As long s you are close to the bottom, you should be good.

    Quick question about the structure in and around towards the dam. You mentioned that middle steep break and a lot of wood in there, where abouts is that wood? On the break or on top or in the deeper water? Any info would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

    • @StructureFishing
      @StructureFishing  Год назад

      The "middle breakline" is roughly 15ft on top, dropping to 28ft. The wood (trees) are at the bottom (28ft) and top off close to the top off the breakline.

    • @StructureFishing
      @StructureFishing  2 года назад

      @@KeithRedd I have not fished many lowland reservoirs, but looking at the map, there is SO much there. It can be overwhelming interpreting the higher percentage areas. I would go as far towards the headwaters as possible. You'll have better water color the further you go. Same thing for the large feeder creek that goes south. That's where I would start. If my focus was largemouth, I'd target the south large feeder creek. For stripers, the main channel breakline from the causeway on up. I'm planning on filming many breakdowns during the winter now, I'll see if I can add this lake in there..

    Spoon Plug hooks - since there are so many snags would it be better to change the hooks to a more flex-able wire hook?

    • @StructureFishing
      @StructureFishing  2 года назад

      Yes and no. Easier to switch to a buoyant/floating crank. I'm limiting my faster speeds, but with walleye, the slower speed is typically better anyway.

    Any idea if these tactics work with the lake iced up?

    • @StructureFishing
      @StructureFishing  2 года назад

      Yes, just areas of the lake may change, as most of the walleyes will start to migrate towards the headwaters.

      You might want to call all the map companies labeling it a lake and tell them you're right and they're wrong. Make sure you mention Castle Rock Lake and Lake Wisconsin and tell them they have those wrong too.
