Bass Fishing For 6 lb Smallmouth | Swimbaits, Crankbaits and 100 Mile Runs!

- 100 miles through floating debris fields, 44 degree temps, but the Smallmouth were chewing! Tim caught his 7 lber the evening before so no matter what was in front of us we were going to make it back for more!
The smallmouth were sitting on current seams and ledges in 5 to 18 feet of water. We used a combination of swimbaits and crankbaits to trigger the schools into feeding and then the slugfest began! This was one of the most viscious feeding sessions we've ever seen with smallmouth bass.

So cool! Beautiful scenery, huge fish, best friend in the boat, and crackin' em together. Awesome!
It doesn't get much better
Im digging that resonate tune playing throughout, great video guys.
Those smiles are contagious, I feel the good times way across the country. Nothing better than sharing a good day fishing with a buddy.
For sure! Thanks!
That NRX and Antares together looks beautiful. Great vids as always!
Love that weather! and of course the ferocious Smallies!
It always amazes me at how aggressive smallmouth are. On the black river here in AZ they are so viscous all the time there definitely one of my favorite bass species to catch.
2 hours ? Damn that's rad! Looking forward to the rest guys!!
watching you guys work that front deck is like a beautiful ballet !
Love them smallmouth. great video!!
Do you guys have a "How we met" video? Or "What make us a good team?" video? If not somethig to that effect would make for a good watch because you two are amazing fisherman!
Epic day on the water and I can't wait to see more beatdowns!!! As always keep up the good work and the quest for giants continues!
Thanks Ted!
what an amazing fishery! it is also a beautiful place to fish
I know you will be back..... Good to see you enjoying some up north brown bass
I have never seen that much stuff in the water! Glad y'all made it safe!!
Thats spot is my disneyland for sure. Thanks for sharing an awesome video.
Once again landing some giants! Not only do you guys land big fish, you take the time to breakdown your approach and I constantly learn new things. Originally from NorCal but living in CO now. Just landed my first 5+ pounder LM out in Denver and some credit must go to your vids. Many thanks, respect!
That's awesome! Congrats Joseph!
Matt with the evasive maneuvers lady's and gentleman. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Good driving brother you guys wrecked house on the smallies great vid!
Ha! Thanks Bud!
what a day! thank you so much for sharing!
great video can't wait for your totals. boy I had the pucker factor when you guy's were running threw that wood!
Outstanding video. The edits and music are great. I just noticed the link in the description for Tackle Warehouse. I will try to remember to use that link from now on to order from them. I love TW. Order today...have it tomorrow! Thank you guys for everything!
Thank you so much Brandon! That makes a huge difference for us and is really appreciated!
SMACKDOWN! Nice job out there 👍
Beautiful place. Nice Smallies. Wish we had those too, here in Florida.
The video I have been waiting for! Thank you guys so much!
Yeah buddy!!
Man that place is unreal! It's got tons of fish but also lots of big ones!
I love my northeast smallmouth fishing where I live, but dang, had no idea west coast had smallies like that and vast lakes are cool to see.
Ya, comparatively speaking, very have heard about or talk about that lake,.
Great video! Love fishing smallies. Was wondering if you guys could do a video, maybe this winter, on cleaning and oiling your reels?
Or maybe just some general equipment care.
Par Davis Good idea, I'd like to see that too
We sure can
I sent you guys a message about some Dobyns rods the other day, would be cool if you can check out my questions when you get a sec. Thanks.
it's pretty easy to clean and oil a reel, not exactly sure why you need Matt and Tim to show you.
Good looking fish. Great job of navigating the debris in the water.
Thanks Brad!
Man, I wish Keitech swimbaits had a more durable tail. I fish them for Spotted Bay Bass in San Diego and they last 1-2 casts before the spotties leave a Keitech nugget on the hook haha
Dang there are reservoirs out west that look like the rivers out east love the content guys god bless
Holy crap the debris! I had knots in my stomach just watching you run thru that stuff!
We made it! :-)
Top 5 favorite TB videos 👌👌
Beautiful lake.
debris is insane looked like a whole shed was floatin what a smackdown nice guys
Thanks Mike!
Great video. Love those smallies.
Thank you!!
What a smallie beat down! Great video!
Thank you!
Crazy boat ride !! Really nice fishes
Thanks for watching!
holy crap! You guys were killing them! those are some friggin healthy fish too! even the little ones had big beer bellies! Hahaha. nice video guys
Thanks John!
Love it! That was worth the run for sure, nice job again guys love the vids and keep em coming!!!👍👍👍 If you ever make it up to Oregon/Washington you will have to hit the big river (Columbia) for some epic smallie fishing, It can be pretty fun at times! Tight lines!
We'll have to fish it! We've driven over/around it a few times but never had the chance to stop and fish.
You guys are awesome!
Holy SS?????? That's a gauntlet you just went through! Its worth it when you get em like that.Things slowed down in Massachusetts Post Spawn. Summer bite should start real quick.
Editing was on point in this video! You guys are getting even better, if that's possible.
Thanks!
great vids! keep it up
Love me some smallies. Like the sweet GarageBand track. That's my sons favorite
Thanks!
The bronzeback blasto beatdown! Puttin it to 'em!
It was a slugfest!!
crazy as usual . loved it
Thanks Gary!
Awesome video! Nothing like a good smallmouth. What beautiful place to fish to!
great video! you guys rock.
Thanks Bro!
You guys ROCK!!!
Straight up Whack-A-Thon!!!!
Never knew a place like this existed. Is this heaven? Seriously though it's so beautiful. The size of those tanks is crazy.
Isn't it amazing? Worth the gambles for sure
We were fishing there this summer and it was over 100 ft deep in most places
nice fish for both of you guys!
Thanks!
The trip to get there looks like it was quite cold. If i got to hammer them like that i would still do it no question.
My pb smallish was caught on a green pumpkin senko while fixing a backlash I just felt a pull set the hook and boom!!
awsome catches guys
Thanks!
Thats a nice fish
Just Amazing!!!
hey could u do a how to figure out the patterns for largemouth bass from shore
Early spring I’m assuming. Crazy how much debris their was!!
Insane waters to navigate! I would have been little scared. In this case the ends justify the means...fun video.
It was VERY sketchy but worth the gamble
Nothing like seeing a bronze back jumping out of the water. I wish smallies grew as big in my area as they do there
Putting in work! 🤙
Yeah buddy!
Nice fishing video, ty guy's
Thanks!
who In the world would give this a thumbs down? This video was on fire with quality fish.
Ha! There's always someone
Yall should do a boat review!
obviously you found a incredible spot, 60-something miles up a river, so how did you find that spot ? a map, navionics, sonar, or a combination ? , more info, please
How does this video only have 650 some likes?!? Awesome video guys, I’d give my left big toe to have a day like that. Maybe even one of my children. 😂
What is the advantage to using the 6" basstrix versus a 4.8 keitech or something similar? I dont have any confidence in a basstrix and would use a keitech instead. Whats the difference other than type of swimbait and shape of course?
awesome video guys what type of rain jackets are you both wearing? i no its off subject
thank you guy's
That debris is NUTS!!! glad you guys stayed safe out there and slayed some giants! When you start researching destinations like this, do you look more at tournament results, state records, DNR reports, or just your contacts and their reports?
All the above :-)
You guys are whackn em...beautiful place..nice job
I know you guys dont seem to ever go up to shasta which I could understand why considering the lakes you guys are by but it was so much worse than that lake with logs from all the rivers. I saw some crazy boat crashes from some subsurface stuff thats a crazy long run with that much crap in the water.
awesome 👍 🎣
great video!
Thanks!
Matt u got shoes on dude hahaha
Have you guys thought about doing boat tour videos because that would be cool
SIXTY-ONE K SUBS!!!!! LETS GO CHAMP!!!
You guys should make a video specifically for bank fishermen on how to catch Smallies. Great Video!
For sure, great idea!
Nice Football 's! You went threw the gauntlet to get there. Still trying to figure out where you are. .My biggest smallies is only 4 ,3 oz I just put a 200 dollar swimbait order in Two days ago to TW Xmass in June!!I
very cool! I really appreciate the dedication you guys put into your work, I know this is not your full time gig. Incredible how you guys are able to put it all together week after week.......Would like to know your thoughts on a summer pattern of drop -shot large plastic swimbaits?
Thank you!!! Its not something we do often but it works.
That's crazy, that's so much wood in the water
I probably would have been driving the boat at trolling speed with all that debris lol.
Ha! You would have been wise
i just found it on your description on bottom thanks
Can't believe it's that cold in June
maybe i missed it, but where was this filmed?
The fishing music was cool this time
Thanks!
That combo that tim's using is like 1200$ I saw in the description of the video, that's insane
Yeah pretty wild! That's why we included the others :-)
Great job guys! I would first like to say thank you for not hot spotting my home lake. I moved from the central valley of California to be closer to this lake 25 years ago. I am lucky to be able to fish this lake nearly year round! My PB is 8.8 but beings I am a fish taxidermist I have done many Replicas for bass weighing well over 9 pounds and I mounted the state record that was only ounces shy of 10 pounds. I must say I am very impressed with your ability to be on great fish in the short time that you visited.
Thanks for commenting John. Pretty amazing fish!
Hey Matt hey Tim how you guys doing? I have a question, do you guys make your own background music? If not I was wondering if you guys would be willing to help me find the music you used for this video? That would be awesome! And FYI I think this video is my favorite clip out of all your tactical bass in videos! Thank Matt thanks Tim sincerely Gary Schmidt from Lake of the Pines CA!
Matt and Tim at the end of a long day of fishing do you guys sit and pull out a couple of cold ones right there in the boat and slow mo a cheers :)
Ha! Not on the water but we've killed a margarita or two back at the house :-)
I have been watching you guys for years and given likes to a many videos actually I like them all. You don't have to give use GPS cordinance but at least tell us the big lakes like this you are fishing? Thanks you so much for safety tips. Also I understand the liability of it because if someone broke down on this lake on this day they could get hypo thermal at night and die! Please just let us know what big lakes you are fishing on. Thank you so much for your contribution to the bass fishing community!
sick video! was wondering can you make a video on how you found this spot? I hate making long runs but you guys showed it can definitely be worth it.
It was all about map study. We literally picked this out of a map and did that insane run to see if we were right
TacticalBassin Right but were there any key features you were looking for that the spot had that wasn't like other parts of the lake as far as depth changes, bottom change, structure etc... mainly wondering what your looking for in order to make the 50 mile run?
Debris!? Around my neck of the Woods that considered "Cover!" lol
Ha!
What leader knot do you use?
What is the camera body and lens Tim is using at 2:35?
Idaho Jet Boater
Looks a lot like Dworshak reservoir, when you say 100 miles round trip in a day that is a dead giveaway. But a 50 mile run up to fish is a little much, there are closer spots than that.
Exactly.
My buddy and I are heading down to Dworshak this weekend to chase some big smallies. Any help on where to start or some tips would be greatly appreciated!! We've only been there once before and couldn't get a pattern going. Thank you!
Don’t go when it’s totally full
Is this in Idaho?
That treacherous run was definitely worth the prize at the end... simply amazing. Pro blue red pearl Keitech?
Yes as well as chartreuse blue
TacticalBassin please check my apparel inquiry email...
click the link below, i thought this pic would be appropriate for this video, she was caught in the beginning of june off put in bay, an island off lake erie, me and a buddy of mine have been going there and these huge smallies are there every year at or around this time.. didn't have a scale with us that day but im pretty sure she was at least a 6.. just wanted to share that pic with you guys, awesome videos guys keep them coming...
Awesome man!!
TacticalBassin thanks for the reply guys.. one of my bucket list items is coming to clear lake to fish for those big ole largemouth.. in your opinion what would be the best time of year to come there and go for a double digit bass? just from watching ypur vids every day i would def. want to book a trip with you guys. maybe you can shoot me an email with some pricing and the best time of year coming up to come maybe do a trip.. timothyjustus2960@gmail.com
I'm jealous !
