Glad you addressed the initial challenge of people not wanting to change their ideas & ways of living, no matter how impoverished. It is difficult to "Break the Habit of Being Yourself" & imagine a different way of life. The thought of learning new skills & especially, leaving ancestral home even if it's a mud hut, seems impossible. KUDOS to those who take on the job of teaching & persuading the villagers that a more prosperous life is possible. China enriches the entire nation (& world) when these villagers can maintain their culture & identity while also living in prosperity!

It is not about political ideology, it is about how to improve the entire common people’s livelihood, for those who just need a helping hand to initiate something, to get their lives going. We need to adopt meritocracy style governance like Singapore or China and distance ourselves from the ideologically driven politics that is ruining even the west. There is so much division in America, that it’s gonna end in a civil in 20 years time. It’s failing and turning them into a decadent society. It will be too late before they realise their mistake and impossible to reverse. Meritocracy and common sense is the way forward. Asian values like bigger family and collectiveness is much more productive than individualism the west has adopted. Contrast this to the pictures of what has now become commonplace on the streets of many US cities... where citizens have now been forced to live on the streets amidst the Nation's claim to amazing wealth (but all in the hands of a minority).... and this is also becoming common place in the UK. While CPC in China is also working for poor people, here in the West, we have been seeing our parties destroying economies based on the principles of the neoliberalism, which privileges only the rich ones. The US and EU are working hard to keep Latin America in poverty. And it is hard to get rid from their pro-bilionaire ideology which is killing hundred of thousands only here in Brazil with the help of our army. This is so INSPIRING. It shows how a government can alleviate poverty IF THEY WANT TO. Apparently my country, America, the govt doesn't care. They are not helping the poorest people - not at all. When kind hearted people are feeding the homeless, they stop them, & threaten to ARREST THEM if they continue! And I might add also that they don't allow us to feed the wildlife - the animals in the woods. They have all sorts of evil reasons why we can't feed them, even the deer. It's INSANE.

I have great admiration for China's governance being that the leadership has high aspirations for the whole country with wise plans and policies for the country to be successful. One thing bothered me - the CHICKENS. It looks like they have them confined to just the building, like I forgot the term, but they have no outdoor space, no place to dig, scratch, dust, just those wire boxes where their eggs fall down, & they can't leave the 'nest' until they lay an egg. This is torture for the chickens. You cannot be kind & loving to one species - human - while torturing & depriving another species - chickens. It bothers me as I really LOVE animals - they never sin. Please give the chickens places to roam, run around, dig, scratch, eat fresh greens.
It is great that China is addressing the issue of poverty. But they should place additional focus on education. In the end better education is alpha and omega of poverty elimination.

They aren’t really democratic if they represent rich peoples’ interests over the needs of everyone else. It’s a rich person’s democracy in the US at least; I’m not as keen on Europe though. It would be great to have the resources for education to be used to benefit the people here.
Great job! Another aspect of reducing poverty is to reduce birth rate in China (especially in RURAL areas), over population is the main cause of poverty in many parts of the world. China habitable land mass can only support 600-800 millions people, not 1.4 billion.

Education IS part of the poverty alleviation program. Education is a big part of the culture. They graduate 1 million engineers each year.
