Staying at a hotel in Reno, Nevada. Got into my Model 3 this morning and to my surprise my FSD trial was ready to go. The car drove out of the hotel lot, down city streets, merged onto the freeway and cruised right to the golf course 25 miles away with zero interventions. Same for the way back. This ranks as my top experience with technology. An iPhone moment on steroids. Forget quarter delivery numbers. Tesla is holding a multi trillion dollar asset all to themselves. Very soon no one will be taking about disengagements. For the life of me I can’t understand how anyone can doubt FSD and eventually a fleet of Robotaxis. Congratulations Tesla team! This is a historic achievement!
My Model 3 was bought in 2018 and, in GA, I am one of the early adopters. The latest version of FSD Beta V12.3 is way better and satisfying than the previous versions. I'm now very optimistic about the future of Tesla!
Funny how Dan O'Dowd as a successful businessman, CEO of a major software company, Super Bowl advertiser, etc. etc. misspelled "brake" as "break", all while he describes his drive in his Tesla instead a car that uses the software his company makes; I can understand misspellings, but why is he driving such a dangerous car (especially with his pregnant wife!) instead of a car running his software? Inquiring minds would like to know :-/
Yesterday on V12, I drove through downtown Montreal and then onto the south shore with tons of traffic with only one intervention on the way back (didn’t stop for pedestrian crossing, mandatory but there were no pedestrians). It completely blew my mind all the edge cases the car dealt with. Agressive drivers on 3 lane urban highway merging into one lane. Dealing with what looked like a drunk driver and deciding to get ahead of the vehicle. In both cases the vehicle pulled up to the curb at the end of the drives and I put it into park. INCREDIBLE!!!
FSD 12.3.3 is so good. Wow.
FSD has always had a lot of problems BUT now everyone is impressed by 12.3.

Dan O Dowd was pressing the accelerator. 100%. If this software and these cars are as bad as he says, why is he buying them and using them for his family, instead of his own incredible software. The guy is a clown, Tesla should sue him.

Ultra sonic sensor thing is wrong. I received fsd v 12.3 2020 model 3 standard range plus
I have 40K miles on FSD and have been an early adopter, purchasing it 5 1/2 years ago with my performance model 3
Clearly a step change toward full self driving. Some noteworthy improvements.
1. Elimination of false moves into short passing lanes, elimination of movement to right lanes where inappropriate
2. Smooth natural trajectory / entry and exit through roundabouts. None of the false slowdown / tenuous behavior from prior versions
3. Improved natural progress thru u protected left turns
4. New ability to turn into driveway / final destination
5. Auto corrected for detection of incorrect left turn lane just prior to actual turn lane.
6. Improved visualization of unmarked two lane road and more accurate centering of vehicle within best approximated lane
7. Zero interventions
The only issue experienced is that the car consistently maintained a speed below the target speed. For example, held to 56 miles per hour then gradually to 59 but never achieved the 62 mile target speed as driver
Preference indicated (speed limit plus 7). Experienced same issue in 35
Mile per hour zone where desired speed is 39 but the car resisted and maintained 36 mph. I believe this may be a known issue and to be addressed soon
These things are variables, you can change them.

My brother has been a die hard gas car fan who buys a new car at least every 2 years (mainly Porsche and BMW). As far as I know, he never considered a Tesla even though impressed by the styling and acceleration. I gave him a FSD 12.3 demo yesterday and afterward he said he plans to look into a M3 Performance when he’s ready for his next car. I was a bit floored.

Troy's "track record" is one of constant adjustments up to 2 days before deliveries are reported. He predicts the present.
Tesla announced they were now including current FSD subscribers for the free month. Also I have a 2022 Model Y with ultrasonic sensors and got the v12.3.3 FSD free trial yesterday. Pretty amazing.
I’m sold, that roundabout video was insane. FSD is good to go, after that, my driving isn’t approved for FSD.

Tailosive EV needs to put himself in Chill Mode. The most likely explanation why he hasn't received the FSD free trial yet is because his car is on the latest non-FSD branch: 2024.8.4. Only cars on 2024.2.x or older are eligible to upgrade to the branch that FSD is on: 2024.3.x. There is no downgrade option, so folks with cars on 2024.8.x will need to wait until FSD catches up.
I used the FSD trial for the first time and had to disengage twice. In both cases, FSD missed a long slip road to turn left.
BYD has a dealer network through which they can “stuff inventory channels”. Tesla “sells cars, BYD “delivers” cars to dealers. Please correct me if this is incorrect. Thank you.
I put a deposit on a Seal Dec23. The only reason BYS didn't get a sale in Q1 is because they haven't delivered. Still waiting.

maybe BYD is actually succeeding, by selling more hybrids than BEV's as there is a current rising preference for hybrids... how did BYD do in overall units? their prior strength was actually in hybrids. This would demonstrate an enduring market flexibility advantage for BYD that Tesla cannot match?
There is little doubt that Model 2 will surpass both Y and 3 sales globally. Most auto buyers simply cannot afford 35K or more for a vehicle, especially during a high inflationary period. Model 2 will be stock driver, making the current stock price to be a giveaway. I'm still very bullish on Tesla and while not overly wealthy, will continue to invest. I have sold all of my Canoo stock, as I've sadly lost hope in the company post their 1-23 split.
In Sweden the Tesla model y is more like 55k. It’s crazy expensive and people still buy it (the most sold car of the year so far)
ive got the uss '22 car and i got the trial. i think people saying they didnt get it need to pay attention to their cars wifi or lack there of because in dealing with my own issues with it ive seen that alot of people have been having issues with the wifi not staying connected. i had to reboot the system 10 times to get the update that unlocked the trial fsd for me.
I'm in Vancouver, BC. I have a 2022 Model Y with ultra sonic sensors. I got the update yesterday 12.3.3. My mind is blown. 40 minute drive, through downtown, only 3 interventions. Crazy good

@@MattPociusonTeslaMoney I guess you have to define critical. This was North Van to South Granville in Vancouver. The trouble was getting onto the Lions gate Bridge. Off Cap road it tried to go into the bus lane. I turned it back into the my lane. Once on Marine, it again tried to go into the bus lane. Again I corrected it. Just before the bridge you have 4 lanes merging into one. A bus came into the merge point and aggressively forced it's way in. This was so close I intervened. After that, it navigated flawlessly all the way through downtown. Going around stopped buses with ease. Around cyclists. Stopping for jaywalkers. No problems with all the construction on the Granville street bridge. Nearing my destination I had to turn left off Granville. There was a car turning left before my street. It lane changed to go around it, and got back in the left lane to complete the turn. Exactly as I wound have done. There are still some issues to address, but WOW! I have mine set to assertive, and Auto max speed. The auto speed works great.
@@darylfoster7944 Read my reply to Matt. All 3 interventions occurred within 5 minutes dealing with getting on the bridge. I could have left it and it would have been fine. If this was a robo taxi the passengers would have been thrilled to skip the long line to the bridge and bypassed them in the bus lane. As for the 3rd with the bus jamming it's way in, I am confident the car would have handled it. I wasn't sure what the my car would do, and didn't want to upset the other drivers around me so I disengaged. I could have left it. I am confident (now) the car would have handled it, and we could have gotten to my destination with zero interventions. The fact that this car navigated flawlessly through Downtown Vancouver, and how it did it, is mind blowing.

There are model S and X cars which have HW 3.0 BUT do not have the interior camera for driver monitoring. Maybe they are the ones that are not getting the update?
I have ultrasonics and have not got to test FSD. Sad.
The emergency services issue does require rapid resolution. Its a concern thats hovered like a bad smell for too long.
16:36 It looks like the driver has their foot on the accelerator and lifts slightly when the car steers left. There is also no movement toward the brake pedal at all. It would seem like it would be a natural reaction to step on the brakes unless the driver knew exactly what was going to happen in that instance.
I read his comments on X. He says he never touched the accelerator. He says he’s deliberately pushing FSD and wants to see what it can do in extreme conditions.

The FSD tried to drive into the exit lane at a park it also left me stranded in a intersection on a yellow light and on the way home it pulled over like the trip was done and we were 1/2 mile from my house ????? In my opinion its a huge mistake to release this on a broad scale you are just asking for a very very bad scenario
Have you heard of Brian from Future AZA? He is pretty spot on when forecasting Tesla deliveries.
Just find the Tesla Economist's prediction, then subtract 30-40k. He is about the worst predictor out there.

Well, there is two things wrong with that assessment, first, Henry Ford's well known foray into the far right wing did not seem to influence the sales of Fords and second, here we go again; There is no such thing as bad publicity, there is only publicity. The best publicity is free publicity. No publicity is death. Controversy keeps the public interest.
Henry Ford didn’t have social media. It’s hard to say what Ford sales would have been if Henry hadn’t gone bonkers. He eventually did get removed.
It’s hard to say what Tesla sales would’ve been if Elon hadn’t gone bonkers, but safe to say sales would’ve been higher. I know of four people that bought non-Tesla cars specifically because of Elon, and that’s just my little circle of friends. I liked it better when we were all laser focussed on accelerating the adoption of electric transport, without all the other unproductive hoopla.

It may not be as simple as lidar vs vision. I think it's mostly about AI. Tesla is the leader in that. Just think if Tesla had stereo vision. Remember how the adjacent vehicles used to jump around? Was that because mono vision couldn't fix the position of the adjacent car? Or where exactly the lane division is? What's wrong with being better than vision? With using radar or lidar along with vision (I'm thinking especially about bad weather, or when the car is blinded by the sun). Let AI figure it out.
The argument for radar or lidar has always been about redundancy, however radar or lidar can't see anything only judge distance to object, so you need vision anyway. The radar can't tell a person from a tree or read road signs, and the lidar probably can't do much better. If the camera can't see, the car has to stop and let the driver take over no matter what the radar and lidar can see or not see. If the weather conditions are too bad for camera's they're probably too bad for people too and they shouldn't be out driving.

It makes perfect sense to give the free month to people that pay in subscription.
Free trials are normally not offered to customers. It's a promotion to encourage take up. Thus not appropriate for customers.

I think everyone needs to consider this, most state managed road management departments will not fix an intersection, or even start a review, unless three people die at that intersection per year. If you’re worrying about a bad FSD call or stopping uncomfortably, consider how many have died using FSD? Better put an extra thank you to Elon for his pursuit of perfection. Your state could care less about your life and road safety and Elon doesn’t have to make it perfect.

1. He has articulated that he doesn't understand how free speech works and that he doesn't understand the First Amendment (which is astonishing).
2. He's incredibly thin-skinned, he shows no impulse control and debases himself and therefore Tesla (and all his companies) regularly by engaging in, and starting immature and unserious debates.
3. He has literally stated that he doesn't care about the money, he just wants to be able to say anything he wants at all times (directly after a Tesla shareholder meeting no less, on national TV).
This MUST be a consideration for anyone investing in Tesla.

Even at that level it is the market leader for the quarter deposing BYD from qtr4. Given the mitigation of M3 line closure for upgrade, the lower numbers are not really an issue.
