Talk a lot and he will eventually talk as well.......i have said many times to Maxwell my blue front Amazon, "I LOVE YOU" so he is saying it......actually he talks a great deal because i talked to him all the time :)

Is it true that when your Caique turns 3 to 4 years old, they become hormonal and can turn on their owner. How is your experience with your caique. I’m having second thoughts of getting one because of this.
We have two older Caiques. One (our first bird) was pretty spoiled. And was great with both of us. But I got an African Grey. That became (my bird) thus our Caique became (my wifes) no normally we still get along for the most part. But she has her days where I don't pick her up. Some blood was lost on my account more than once and it took my wife forever till she seen her little pride and joy turn evil. But we still love her and now I know when to stay away. Yes they are cute but when one sticks her foot threw the bars on the cage to grab your finger so she can pull it close enough to bite... Makes you think. The other Caique we have is a rescue. She's mature but we don't know exacly how old she is. She on the other hand... Is very docile. She can be handed to anyone without fear of her doing anything a normal Caique wouldn't do on a normal day. (Everyone has bad days) But for the most part she seems unaffected by hormones. She has bit both of us at one point or another but anything that has a beak will bite. But her bite is nowhere near the bite of out first Caique. And it's not a normal occourance. Yes... I would probably bet on our first Caique if she and my Grey fought. What she lacks in statue she makes up for in tenacity. No... They don't interact with eachother physically. He just tells her to "cut it out.. Your being to loud" when the occasion calls for it. Also it could be that I'm male. We aren't sure. But... She doesn't bite my wife. And we don't take the chance of handing her to someone who doesn't live in our home.
