  • @dralberthofmann
    @dralberthofmann 3 года назад +29

    We have a female Caique too! She also has a sister but a different species (conure) and we are concerned about keeping hormones in check to control any egg laying as they grow up. Our Caique is an "teen-ager" (3 and a half years old) and her sister is a baby or maybe you could consider her a "toddler".
    Our Caique gets up around 8:00 a.m. and goes to bed around 8:00 p.m. like clockwork. At night she jumps in her cage and gets on her "bed" perch and calls for us to come and "tuck her in". It's adorable!
    Thanks for sharing the video!

    The pellets are fruit pellets, with artificial dyes, and the seeds aren't sprouted and what is in the seed mix? Also, maybe their dinner should have more vegetables and less sweet things, like a vegetable chop. There are loads of vegetables you can put into a vegetable chop, and you can add things like pasta, legumes, grains. If you're going to slowly diet convert, I'd recommend Tops pellets.

    • @foxxikatana8893
      @foxxikatana8893 2 года назад

      The parrots who have the biggest impacts from these are eclectus as the dyes can cause toe tapping due to their unique digestive systems. I’m not super familiar with other breeds. But foods with dyes do tend to be higher in sugar and should not be the only food option provided (I.e. should also be providing veggies and/or another pellet)

    Why do have these birds?
    Wow, Seems like they are your children, not pets.
    Having pets is purely a selfish human thing we do for fun and entertainment, unless they serve purpose like hunting dogs or something.. These animals are meant to be in the wild aren’t they?
    Seems like you are craving motherhood. You would probably make a very good mother. Raising children can make the world a better place with good parenting.

I feel it should be somewhat focused on people who neglect/abuse their pets as there are many out there in this world and not on someone who is looking after their pets well.
      Owning a pet is 100% a privilege not a right.
      There are many great causes to protect animals to great behind, that I feel you will be great in. And in fact to protect children as well. Remember to always be kind x

    Great video and especially the routine, that's very important especially the 12hour sleep.
    My two are 7:30-1930hrs like clockwork covered up for security and sleep. Nobody mentions the first poo in the mornings 😅😅 yes two big black ones. Mine will not poo in their cage.
    They spend 10 hours out of the cage, then 20 mins for breakfast and 1 1/2 hrs evening meal. They have approximately 10hrs in the bungalow free range. They are really looked after and really noisey in the mornings.

    i am thinking about getting one, but nobody addresses the discharge subject and always show them walking on couches/ beds etc, how do you control them when they are for instance on your bed from pooping on it?

    Thank you for all the work and the information 👍. I lived with a grey some time ago and sadly he's gone. I wondered how it was like living with a Caïque. Do they need much cage time or do they like free roaming? What about the mess they make (I often see people playing with them on their beds). Do they destroy much? Thanks again and all my best wishes for you guys!

      They are a loud parrot and messy! The mess is from the fresh vegetables and fruit mainly. They love to be outside their cage for a couple hours a day if possible. They destroy a lot! Keep away shoes, watch bands, phone covers. They have very strong beaks.
      I allow they on our bed, however I wait for them to poo beforehand!

    Hello. Why do they have to be this cute 💖🥰 But this is just a friendly tip: coloured pellets are bad for parrots. Some good brands are: Harrison's, Tops, Marlene Mc'choan signature blend.🥰

    Quick question - our 8 months old Caique screams very loudly at the mornings... Usually after he eats his breakfast and is ready to start a day. He's got around 2 hours period when he just wants to run on window stool and scream very loud(like, really very loud)! He won't stop doing it for word. We're very concernd about this behaviour, living in apartment building our neighbours might complain at some point. Your caiques look calm in that term, maybe you got some suggestion?

    I have a caique. I find that he (genetically tested) is fairly loud but they are not noisy. Loki gets a breakfast of pellets, a wet food bowl (usually with peas, carrots, and a green leafy non calcum binding vegetable) and a skewer with a sliver of corn and pepper and usually a quarter of a guava (in the fall and winter he gets pomegranate in his bowl instead). and as an evening snack he gets a bit of birdie bread (cornmeal, pumpkin, an egg some cayanne and rumford baking powder for leavening) he asks for it, and he asks "did a bee eat my birdie bread" and : where do you get your birdie bread" I do a 8:30 am, 8:30 Pm sleep schedule.
