Yeah the dealer's AI is aggressively bad. It will always use as many items as it can in the order that he gets them even if it makes no sense and is contradictory. He will also always just flip a coin to determine whether he shoots the player or himself unless it's the final shot, then he will know if it's a blank or a live round and make the right move then.
Seriously people found this game difficult? Rather than a hard mode i wish it had a multiplayer with a coin toss at the start to see who gets to shoot first
@@govnopochta69 Partially luck, partially because the Dealer is a moron when it comes to using items. And also because the Dealer doesn't actually count the shells: they simply "know" the current shell after using a magnifier or if it's the last shell of the round. And in every other situation, they just coin-flip whether to shot the player or themselves, even if truly counting shells would tell them all remaining shells are blank/live, they'll still coin-flip everything but the last shell (and the ones they magnify).

Developed by an Estonian guy as a hobby while studying English philology in Tallinn. According to his own words this game has made him a millionaire at 21. Crazy story!
He did fuck up that last round though. He should have slammed 3 beers. If he ejects the blank within those 3 beers, (75% chance to happen) then he’s sure to win. If he doesn’t, he still has a 50% chance, leaving him at the end with an 82.5% (if my mental math is right) chance at winning right there. His choice was just to blast right away, which only gives him a 75% chance of winning.
Can definitely say out of all the gaming channels out there, Mark is the only one I could enjoy as a kid and still enjoy as an adult. His content doesn’t seem too forced either
I can’t get over this part of the game, you don’t even hear the full shot go off, it seems creepily realistic and adds so much to the game for something so little
I mean... that's just a horribly normal way to handle getting killed in first person. What's really cool and fun is the light blinding as your eyes adjust, and the intensity of the noise and music as you're coming back to conciousness.
16:07 actually, the smartest play there is use all of the drink until you either see both blanks disappear, or until you are left with a 50/50. Then, just handcuff him, saw it, and get a guaranteed kill. You actually kinda got lucky, cause I've seen double blanks before in that last round.
well no there was a chance to just get rid of all the live rounds and leaving the blanks not guaranteed making it more likely to shoot a live was the best way to go there
Testing the waters on the first shell was smart, the dealer was already handcuffed, so he had margin for error. If he hit the dealer with a live, he'd only need 1 more hit out of 3 lives with 2 blanks. Him drawing the blank meant that there were 4 lives and 1 blank, which meant that using the saw and just going for it again had an 80% chance of outright winning him the game. It wasn't going to get much better than that, and if anything, ejecting rounds had a decent chance of blowing his opportunity at immediate victory should the Blank have been the last shell left. Even if Mark hit the first shell and not the double damage, he had more than enough health to tank whatever the dealer could throw at him during its turn thanks to his cigs and the fact that the dealer had no way to reliably skip Mark's turn without revealing the last blank and guaranteeing it would lose, or just killing itself outright. And ofc there was also the chance that Mark just hit 2 lives in a row and won the game. Barring a huge blunder on Mark's part (as in burning through all his beers), the game was thoroughly unwinnable for the dealer at this point.
@@MeargleSchmeargle well if he drank all 4 beers the probability would be the same for a dud expect he would know the exact results and then can use his double damage more effectively
I don't think winning a 4 in 5 is "lucky". 80% is good enough. As someone else said as well, drinking the 4 beers gives you the chance of drawing out all your live rounds.

Mark has said before whenever going into a new competitive game he does incredibly well the first time, and then he falls into mediocre hell. Fortunately the first time was all he needed.
Well, you say that, but out of the people I've seen play this game, markiplier is the only one who actually uses enough of their items to get 4 new items every round. I'd see other people with tons of items, and I'm like, "Why aren't you using them?"
The lack of foreground lighting, the incandescent background lighting, and dutch angle shot in Mark's camera makes it look like it's from an ancient Markiplier video.
I love these kinds of games cuz you don’t need to think about lore. It’s just a funky little game and I love it. Also, as a side note, I just love 14:58 to 15:15. All of the preparation such as the handcuffs and the beer, and that the end, the ominous silence, the dealer aiming the gun, and the music throughout it all… it all just makes for such a great, heartwrenching atmosphere.
I actually love the concept of how this video game is played and conveyed. The crunchy filter mixed with very real objects makes the game feel off in a way, which adds to the feel. The rave in the background adds an even scarier aspect to the game. To me it feels like you are zoning out of life to risk your own. The shaking hand movements when the gun is held, and the suspense if the round is blank or live. This game is a disturbing masterpiece.
opening this video and seeing mark shrouded in darkness and just not thinking anything if it cause his light is haunted is just part of the markiplier fanbase experience
This game does the atmosphere it’s trying to go for almost perfectly. Most will try but end up being too boring or derivative, but this feels scary while also tapping into that competitive part of your brain. It mixes mechanics with ambience into a near perfect blend while also seeming fresh

@@coolsceegaming6178 The character can say whatever he wants, that doesn't mean its true and that logic should be applied because it's a video game. There are plenty of games where a character says something along the lines of "He's dead, its finally over" after filling him with enough lead to sink a ship, only to find out that the situation is not over and that the enemy miraculously reappears as if nothing happened. In this example the lens of logic in that situation would have suggested that the enemy is dead after you or another character made it clear that the enemy was indeed dead, but since the developers wanted some sort of twist in their game they decided to do the illogical anyway. 16:07 actually, the smartest play there is use all of the drink until you either see both blanks disappear, or until you are left with a 50/50. Then, just handcuff him, saw it, and get a guaranteed kill. You actually kinda got lucky, cause I've seen double blanks before in that last round.
Was looking for this. Good.
well no
there was a chance to just get rid of all the live rounds and leaving the blanks
not guaranteed
making it more likely to shoot a live was the best way to go there
Testing the waters on the first shell was smart, the dealer was already handcuffed, so he had margin for error.
This kinda demonstrates how smart Mark actually is when he isn't goofing around.

Buckshot Roulette: a horrific game about cutting life support, addiction, and suicide.
Mark: it’s about the ODDS!!
why does everything have to have a hidden meaning now, its a stupid cheap game about putting a spin on russian roulette, nothing else
It's not hidden, it's pretty obvious.
where does it say anywhere about anyone cutting off life support, or being addicted to things, its a game that took 2 months to build that you play for 20 minutes and think "damn that was good, on to the next one" your theories dont mean anything
@@MrRockTable it's not overt, at least not to the point it's slapping you in the face. it's about what you yourself take from the game. that isn't a hidden meaning, but it's your own interpretation of the situation. it's perfectly reasonable however to connect this game to certain themes like addiction. for example, when you die in the first rounds you're left in the bathroom with a charge and your character goes back in to start again. as a player you have no choice in this, save turning the game off. you're driven by a force you can't control, as if addicted.
The game doesn't have it's own grandstanding message, it's just something that can give you something to think on, if you decide to.

@@jaketstephens3932 but there's still logic that seeps in. You heal with cigarettes, but it's been made clear that after this there's no turning back. Doesn't matter what lense of logic is used, if someone says "this is it. No more second chances" it means there's no more second chances, period.
Gamers have been getting accustomed to video games ignoring logic for the sake of gameplay mechanics or story telling for decades, so it makes sense that they don't always notice obvious logic even when its right in their face.
