Such a sad ending for such an amazing character, Judy did a fantastic job portraying pixie and may she R.I.P.
Very sad first to have heard that Judy McBurney had lost her right eye a few years back to cancer & then to learn that she had passed away last month. I loved Pixie. :( RIP Judy.
@@dappylu oh my gosh that poor thing. Sweet soul!
Awww how sad. Loved her playing pixie
Pixie was such an amazing character. Truly one of my most favorite actresses of p.c.b.h. I couldn't stomach the thought of someone hurting her. May she R.I.P. She was an angel, and a wonderfully talented and beautiful actress.
Even Lou looks shocked at what Frank did to pixie
Notice how they had the two lesbians Judy and the Freak team up to take Murphy down (they were both bashed by him for being gay). That was subtle, but good at the end!
Let's give a convicted rapist the run of a womens prison, what could possibly go wrong?
Fast forward to 2023 and they are putting transgenders in women’s prisons.
The Freak taking out that barrel gutted Murphy... so badass.
Goodbye to the lovely Judy Mcburney. I just know she's in heaven 😥😫😢😭😪
I loved Miss Joan Ferguson's strong punch which knocked down Murphy!
Me too - she's vicious when she's angry and Murphy made her really angry! As Ferguson said a couple of episodes back: "I've dealt with slime like you before, Murphy" I reckon Ferguson owed him that after he got the first punch in the night Murphy was caught in Kelly's cell. I like Jude's quick work in holding his arms back to allow Joan to move in with the heavy blow to that fat gut.
I don’t blame the freak for setting up Murphy. In hindsight he was going to end up in jail anyway for those so called accidental deaths that weren’t as accidental as the department originally thought.
poor pixie she did not deserve that
No she didn't, I always loved Pixie, other favorites of mine are Doreen and lizzie (great double act) and i also loved Heather Trap aka Mouse awhile back.
No she didn't i totally agree with you Patrick, i loved Pixie i wish the writers had given her a happy ending. Instead of those uncomfortable scenes we have to endure. I think Judy Mcburney who played her did a great job, i read she has since past away.
@@deanhall4064 Yeh I wanted a happy Pixie exit too. Judy McBurney died 1 December 2018, aged 70. Quite young on today's standards. Her other great character was Tania Livingston on The Young Doctors.
Poor Pixie didn't deserve that ending. :(
I;m just glad shes finally gone...My god she got annoying! I've never been able to handle that bloody chipmunk voice!
Serena Allen THEY SHOULD HAVE CUT HER HEAD OFF.
I agree with you Serena Allen, poor Pixie dident deserve that ending, for the record i loved her character, it's always difficult to watch those finale scene's with her. Judy McBurney who played her did a great job, i had heard she past away too.
Poor Murphy he didnt desrve that ending :( great villian with lots of potentinal but they chose to bring back Crockwank instead.
@@deanhall4064 Yes R.I.P Judy McBurney
30:42 When "The Department" decided to let the male prisons interact with female prisoners, I thought it was "supervised" during meals and recreation period. Not "let rapists freely roam the halls unsupervised." The rape of Pixie is totally uncalled for and shouldn't be in the script. Bad writing. 32:30 Seriously? Meg has a tumor and she will lose the baby. What else can the writers do to Meg?
Totally agree.
Why is it bad writing? You want everything to be all happy and frilly and fun? That’s not real life.
Meg has still got that rape court case to get through yet.
Uncalled for? It's a seriously good gripping story!
U said it all.
shit fergo's strong, she lifted those men up practically by herself - what a man!
Lizzy Allan. bet she has a bigger dick than them too.
You kind of got the sense that with someone such as Frank roaming the place that it was just a matter of time before someone copped it. As soon as Pixie hit him then the writing was on the wall, he was only ever going to respond to that in one way because animals like him don't need a real excuse to act true to form.
😐 Sorry but at times - Animals are better behaved than mankind😕.
Animals are also very tasty.
Humans are animals.
8ballpoolking1 This character of Frank got more fan mail than any other cast member . Kinda says something about mankind.
@@davidsteckelberg7245 Hopefully you’ll be on the receiving end one day. Perhaps a shark or a grizzly bear.
Poor Pixie its so sad that this has happened to her and she ends up at the same place as Cass. Meg is one strong woman it's a wonder that she hasnt ended up at Ingleside too.
Although the following year when Ann goes to Ingleside about Reb, offscreen she sees Pixie, who apparently is more herself.
@@jonbolton3376 That helps at least! :-)
SERIOUSLY, WHAT ELSE CAN THEY DO TO MEG??????!!!!
what they should have done along time ago...Kill her off!
ERL THEY CAN HAVE MEG HAVE THE BABY AND IT WOULD COME OUT LIKE BABY IT.
She hasn't had cancer yet
@@LittleMissJmoo I love Meg. NO NO NO
Pub Quiz Question: Which is the bigger number? A the number of times Meg got raped or B the number of different actors who played her son?
Pixie and megs rapes are by far the worst storylines that prisoner ever did. I never ever understood why? Still both upsetting after all these years
Absolutely. Just horrible!
Poor Pixie. Breaks my heart. Why did they have to give her that terrible exit?
The milk is never in the fridge I’m surprised they haven’t all got the squits.
Loved the scene where Murphy is dipping his biscuit in his cuppa tea!
It should have been Frank Burke who had the horrible ending Hazel Kent had.
Boy, Murphy has that real home-grown belly.
yeah didnt think they had fat blokes as prison officers or police officers
:O poor pixie :( luv the way joan smerks when she's all like "yeah! got you now"
What Joan smirks after pixie got raped????
@@outtherelivinginthepub1973 not smirking about pixie, just smirking because she can use the pixie rape to "frame" Len Murphy
@@fabpcbhfan9592 it seemed like they could of had Frank and Len up for rape together if they of had Frank bash, brought to pixies cell.
@@outtherelivinginthepub1973 they just wanted Len out of the way, but yes they should have got them both done for it.
Lou looks the spitting image of Kevin Bacon
Life as a screw would’ve been easier if they’d had walkie-talkie radios rather than racing thru the prison every time they had to get help
@ 3:05 that is the drum track from Phil Collins “I Don’t Care Anymore.”
I love the eighties. 😎
@ 34:12 - I think the writers were subtly suggesting that Pixie was still a virgin before she was raped. I believe that’s why it was so particularly devastating, sending her into a catatonic state. I remember Pixie mentioning to another inmate about how it was important for a bride to keep her virtue so she could wear a white dress, and we know how Pixie felt about weddings. Her imagined fairytale ending had been destroyed at that point. That combined with her whimsical naivety and innocence seem to further support my theory. However, this is Prisoner we’re talking about, and I’m probably overthinking the entire situation. LOL.
Didn't she leave all of them right after the wedding?
@sjstrick xxx she always left b4 the wedding night.......it was weddi GS she was addicted to and wearing the WHITE 👗
Pixie actually spoke of getting pregnant and losing the baby..in an earlier episode..and in another when she thinks she killed Ralph..that was because she didn't want to have sex until they were married..in her eyes..She didn't like Frank..would never have married him..so when he raped her..it's no wonder she ended up in Ingleside..was a sad end..
@@michelledavies2027 - please point to the episode where she said she’s pregnant because I am 99.99% sure she never said this. I’ve seen the entire series twice over.
Hiya..it's among the episodes..during her first time inside..her father was a vicar..seeing as he also played Ted Douglas..it'll be in the episodes after those..if I remember rightly..pixie was telling her story to cass or Bobby..and also she has an argument with Margo Gaffney..where she says..she has never pretended to be anything she's not..after Margo called her Prissy and Pure..I wish I could give you the exact episode..I have watched this series over and over for the last 4 years..and I always notice things that I hadn't before..I'll suddenly realise that cass parker was a social worker..in earlier episodes..the recycling of characters is great..good luck with finding the actual episode..thinking back now..Petra Roberts was in those episodes..👍
I haven't watched the episode yet, but I remember it so vividly from first time around. Made me cry so much :-(
somebody remind me never to go halves on a lottery ticket with meg morris,
I’ve seen this episode dozens of times, and i tear up every time
Frank is such a vile character. There are villains you love to hate and villains you just hate and Frank is one i just hate. The rape of Pixie is awful and the fact a convicted rapiat is free to roam a womens prison is insulting really
I believe THE DEPARTMENT would be in big trouble for allowing even the possibility of something like that happening.
True the department doesn't care. Same with the ending for Sam Greenaway.
Would the actor who played Frank have also suited the part for Peter Wright? I think he would have as the actor really could make Frank so convincingly vile.
w0w, just w0w, that was just an outstandingly piece of drama with Pixie's assault. It isn't often that Prisoner really draws me right in, but it did with this. Firstly the late Trevor Kent who plays Frank Burke is playing his predator of women character so well. Of the three male actors playing the Woodridge parts he is the one that is Gay in real life. Poor bugger died so young too at the tender age of 49 in 1989 due to complications with HIV/AIDS.
Judy McBurney portrayal of someone in a catatonic state was just incredible. And that music that played (37:08 until about 38:30) when Judy was going crazy plus Judy & Myra going at it complimented the storyline and dialogue just perfectly; the initial light tinkling of the piano that built up to a captivating dramatic piece.... just perfect.
Joan here was great too, kicking right into action realising this was an opportunity to dispose of Len. And as she quite rightly said the damage had already been done to poor dear Pixie. Her determination to frame Len immediately whilst at the same time expressing concern for Pixie was so well executed. And that punch she landed on him at the end in the cell, oh, that felt just so satisfying, lol.
And then.... those dulcet tones that we are all so pleasantly used to by now of Lynne Hamilton's ''he used to give me roses'' penetrated my ears and it was now I was moved to tears, the end result to what I had just watched.
I didn't take to the character of Pixie at first, but she really did grow on me over time, and she will be a character that I shall miss. 🧡
12th October 2023.
It was the same with Poor Sam Greenaway a Sad Ending, Electrocuted.
I’d love to know how many times Judy says “OOHHHH MY GODDDDD!” throughout her time in Wentworth 😂
Now Meg has cancer. Give me strengh.
Should have been Frank Burke...
If this had been a few years later the writers would have given her AIDS. 🤷🏻♂️😬
At least the cancer storylines aren't as frequent as Home and Away. I think Ann, Meg and Rita are the only ones who had cancer.
Well, she does get around a bit and back in the early days of AIDS most women relied on the pill for contraception, not condoms.
Good old Joan :-)
Remember seeing this episode when it was first broadcast and cried at what happened to Pixie :'(
Ferguson may have a cruel, side but she does her job. Saving MaCrae and Delaney (with help from Meg) was admirable!
It's very weird seeing Pixie like that, not saying anything.
How did Bobbie get so skilled with the electrics all of a sudden??
What a strange way of getting out the men - death by fumigation. Why did they have a convicted rapist in a women's prison? Sheer madness?
no crazier than these days where a man can now go to a women's prison if he claims he 'identifies as a woman.
@@booth2710 One of the transgenders that still looks like a man actually went into the womens toilets in the grocery store I work at. I can't tell if he is still a man or a woman. I read an article about woman to man surgery and they cut off the breasts but they have some kind of trouble giving them a peepee. I read they would have to cut off skin on the thighs and construct one. It's quite painful and traumatic so the person still has womens genitals.
Were you even watching??? Because if you were you’d know the answer to your question
I couldn't stand Joan when she first arrived, now her character has developed beautifully. Great writing. Great storylines. And of course superb acting. Her attempt at connecting with Meg at the beginning of this episode alongside how she is with her Father the Major, and Shane too shows what a caring and loving soul she is deep down. So, what's with how she is towards the women? My take is she became like that in regards to what the prisoners done to her lover Audrey at the other prison, which in turn made a monster via the grief process which went in the wrong direction at some point. I have seen someone else in the comments section pretty much say what I am saying with someone else disagreeing, but certainly for me it makes perfect sense.
11th October 2023.
If I may put forward an alternative theory. I think Joan was made insecure by her family's negative reaction to her sexuality when she was a teenager. There are subtle hints to support that in her conversations with the Major. That insecurity (not guilt, though) made her turn inward on herself and not risk getting close enough to anyone in case that sense of hurt she endured from her family was repeated. That's why there have been so few people in her life. She threw herself into her career and kept herself to herself. Then along came Audrey and it's at that point that your theory comes into play.
She's a fascinating character, almost bipolar at times.
Very well portrayed by Maggie Fitzpatrick, of course, who made the character of Joan so believable.
My poor Pixie. I'm so ready to cry.
I now how you feel, i loved Pixie.
😭
Ferguson vs Murphy. She give him a right hand good punch in the tummy. He Drop to the floor like a pack of cards 😂😂😂😂
This episode is sad because of the slow music when looking at Pixie
I know in tv land sometimes the good guys don't always get a happy ending and ESP in prisoner there are many a sad emotional ending for our fave characters but my god pixies end was just beyond cruel and the most awful way to write out a much loved character, this was one step to far, who ever thought of this exit shud be tar n featherd :( will miss u pix
They should be given an award better then a fake fairytale ending . Pixie was always naive deluded and treated wentworth like a posh girls boarding school she had the chace to go straight , but got herself back in the slammer . Kudos to the writers taking the risk and drumming home the realities of Prison. The show often got too cosy at times . Best if sadest exit since Paddy .
🌹🕯️ Judy McBurney (1948 - 2018), eternal memory.
"Aw pull the other one" Lou Kelly needs some new one liners
Oh ffs, why didnt I see that coming. Meg has cancer and loses the baby... Im guessing her next storyline involves her being chased by a rabid werewolf in a flooded desert whilst dodging a plague of locusts only days after being struck by lightening (twice)
Poor Pixie and Meg
One of the best episdoes of the entire series even if it's one of the most sadest. Even though this era of the show was pretty dire , repative and sensasonlist they mangaged to get back to the ingrediants of what made PCB great television in the first place for these 43 minutes or so.
The show seriously ran out of decent storylines
The fact that meg and pixie were raped by separate men in separate storylines within a few episodes kind of shows they were struggling for decent storylines at the mo although it does defiantly pick up pretty soon
I wish Bobby for ones would talk in a conversation instead of shouting
17:11"He's a pom, but he's a good bloke!" Wince!
I like joans smirk at the end.
Yemil and her husband look more like twin brother and sister than husband and wife.
Nice to see Myra and Fergo working together. #mygo
So Lou picked Paterson for a great poker player, soley based on the fancy card shuffle she can do? Well that’t dumb! I can do that fancy card shuffle but I’m no great poker player.
Except shes a pro.

When Meg got raped, I thought that was terrible. But when Pixie was the victim, I couldn't believe that my eyes got a little watery when she walked into the laundry room.
Although Pixie wasn't one of my favorites, I was wishing that she would come back when she left the first time because the storyline got extremely boring with Marlene, Dot Farrah and Edna. I had no idea of what would happen to Pixie when she came back. This wasn't one of the writers' best character departures.
+JustBeing Me Betty Bobbit wrote a book called On The Inside, She said that They all hated the ending story for poor Pixie, but Judy McBurney was from Sydney and she missed her beloved cat Santa Claws. He was given to her from a co star when she was on a television program called The Young Married's. She couldn't bring him to Melbourne because her flat she lived in wouldn't allow pets. Anyway, she hated leaving, but she had her family and a boyfriend too. I also hated the way they let her go.
Except for Lizzie, Vera & Powell, I hated all the endings for characters esp Cass which was appalling to send her to hosp for criminally insane
In terms of storytelling, it’s incredibly fitting, but the darkness is sort of sudden with some of what we’ve seen on the show before. As another commenter said, Pixie is a romanticist and for that, she got the worst wake up call that the world can be a very cruel place to that. It’s horrible and we all hate to see it end that way. It’s very fitting, but it’s a vile ending to a character who harmed no one, was close to everyone and ultimately only saw good in the world. Too cold and stark even for Prisoner, more befitting the darkness of Wentworth, the remake.
Very true same with Sam Greenaway Sad ending.
@Channel Three well said!
Poor Pixie, she should have thrown some books at Frank ! Joan is a badass with that punch
That officer on duty in the dining room reminds me of Princess Leia from Star Wars lol
There no way Frank should't have been handcuffed....24hrs a day except when he had to wash his bum😅
I always pictured him chained to a wall in solitary with a collar and a heavy log chain and having to eat with his hands out of a dog bowl and his chain way too short to reach the door. That would have been lovely or maybe in a cage in the boiler room .
Just a bit of trivia.....The actor playing Yimel; Maria Mercedes, appears in Prisoner's remake Wentworth as Inspector Ayoub.
Good to hear that actors with a dark complextion get better parts in Australian telly , these days.
lol pixi minging feet when murphy said you wont get away way this
With out any doubt one of the cruelest and unbelievable stories written in Prisoner. Having a convicted rapist roam a prison and no officer raises an suspicious eye brow.
Not so unbelievable nowadays. Liberals have pushed for transvestites to be allowed in women’s prisons where they have raped other inmates and even impregnated some.
'He's a pom but he's a good bloke' 😂😂
Oh poor Pixie, can't wait to see what the revenge is gonna be!! Freaky Frank is beyond vile.
I just hope the poison won't hurt Meg's unborn child.
Bleedin’ Hell!! That Yemil one didn’t half pick up a pretty good grasp of colloquial English quickly, didn’t she? From week one in Wentworth: Yemil doesn’t even know how to say “My name is Yemil.” To ..
Week three in Wentworth: “My name is Yemil... Not Wog!!”
Those language classes were worthy of Karen Travers.
The irony is that the SAME actress played "Irene" the one Karen Travers was teaching 🤗👐
She told someone that she'd been in Australia for a few years.
Pretty certain she could speak and fully understand from the time she came in. She just made out she couldn't
Seeing how awkward Lexie is mixing the cards you know that the actress is no cardplayer even if Lexie is supposed to be 😂
Nice one, Freak!
bobbie looks so goofy dressed like that, like a boy george doll. im really enjoying this show, im gonna be sad when it is over.i know alot of people will be watching this over and over again, but i dont think i will especially when you know what is gonna happen with each and every character, then it will be time to move on to another show.but i have enjoyed it from the first episode to the last one when i get to it.
Wrong character. "Lexie" was the one with the Boy George image when she first appeared, not Bobbie.
the actress who plays Yemil has been on Wentworth playing a detective in season 6. Love it!
She was also in Prisoner cell block h series 1 as "irene" (the one who Karen Travers taught)
@@fabpcbhfan9592 I never even noticed! Love how this show recycled actors
@@PaulDoe79 I Love it too. The funniest one was Moni being 'recycled' to Tinker Belle 🤣 and another funny one was Ted Douglas being 'recycled' to Pixie's father 😆
@@fabpcbhfan9592 and I NEVER even realized it was the same actor playing Pixie's dad. I remember when Lou Kelly was a sales girl at a store Nola was shoplifting at. And of course Willie Beacham playing Ann Yates and Faye's sister. I believe Nancy also played 2 other roles just as Craven did.
@@PaulDoe79 YES! They just made Ian Smiths hair "grey" so he looked 'different' to Ted Douglas as Pixies dad. And YES! I remember Lou Kelly in episode 333 as the Camera Shop sales assistant who got "owned" by Nola🤣 , but I've played that a number of times and it becomes obvious it's not Lou Kelly (though it is the SAME actor👍). I do remember the Ann Yates coming back as Fayes sister. Fayes nephew also came back later on as Heather's brother😂 Ray Meagher (Home and Away's Alf Stewart) appears in it 3 times😳😳😳
The woman Irene who Karen Travers teaches appears in the 500s as Yamil(Aka Jane Doe). Mrs Forster appears later on as Ettie. There are many other examples of 'recycled' actors😆😆😆😆😆
I'm not sure who Nancy & Craven are. I'll try figure them ones out🤣
One of my favourite episodes, in my top 5, despite the obvious tragic end which Pix didn't deserve.
meg should have sounded the alarm system
I have watched this episode many times and this time around I feel very disgusted in Myra. Poor Pixie 😢
05:13 Joan moves in for a snog !
3:05
best episode where Alan Parker's track 'Make Way' was played in the background, since Bobbie Mitchell's escape from Wentworth in episode 474
Yemil's husband looks like a cross between Allan Holdsworth, Fred Harris and Rodney Bewes
This Pixie story line was just awful, it was just shit to write it in..that she was raped and then used as a set up. sucked.
37:24 - "Still the same heartlesh bits"?!?!?!
Judy must've been wearing Len's false teeth!
Hahahaha 🤣
The freak is always nice and sweet when she want's something but the minute she get's what she want's all hell break's loose again!!
I would have thought Joan could have tossed those men over her shoulder like a lumberjack.
The Pixie / Frank Burke storyline was very hard hitting and the original script was even more so. The network felt some of the things in the original script were a step too far and changed it to be more "acceptable". Louise Silvesen who played Lou Kelly spoke about Trevor Kent (the man who played Frank Burke) on the "Talking Prisoner" podcast. She said he was a real gentleman, and his performance was so good because he was absolutely nothing like his character. Sadly he passed away in 1989 from AIDS.
The only good thing tht came out of pixies horrifying exit is the amazing revenge tht Myra brings down on tht scum Burke - no spoilers but the much missed bea smith wud be very proud ;)
Crap ! they just borrowed another Bea Smith era plot line and re -set it for Desmond just like they did with the junkie daughter and bashing a young wayward prisoner to pull her into line.
The library looks like Erica Davidson's old office.
40:37 - original Marty in the photograph
Anyone else notice Murphys wrinkles on his head he almost has a t for tosser
MYRA TOLD THE MEN NOT TO TRUST FERGUSON NOW SHES DOING THE SAME THING
At least Murphy was by the book at Wentworth and had no interest in ruuning rackets . Even his handling of Kelly was down to her playing with fire. Don't know how Desmond calculated the women would be better off with the Freak back in power . Bea would have probably used that situation to turn the tables on the freak , probably even murder her into the bargain making it look like self defense . and it would have been Judy who would have ended the episode on the floor after whining about ethics something she never did to the same extent with Bea.
The Freak will put her lips on ANYTHING!! LoL!! 😳
Including STAN when he had his heart attack by the shed 😬
