i was 13 / 14 when i heard this for the first time. wow. i forgot how sick that vibe is damn. the lyrics were perfect for my teen angst but damn that background beat slayyyysssss. rest in peace chester b, he and chris cornell, helped me and so many.

DG, that instrument featured in the beginning and throughout the song is a Japanese flute. Don't know for sure, but I would assume Mike is playing it because he can do just about anything and everything.
I loved linkin park from the first time i heard them, must’ve been almost two decades ago at this point, and when i saw how people reacted to chester’s lyrics, it hurt, cause i could feel those emotions, and from where the lyrics always went, i could tell he was going to take his own life sooner or later, and knew that once he had off’d himself, people would finally take his music seriously.

It stands out because the beat is so different from any of their other tracks. Especially, that Japanese flute. I used to have the chorus as my ringtone.

Aw man, I'm wouldn't say I'm still the biggest fan of LP but I grew up with them. I was 8 when Hybrid Theory came out. The year after they had blown up so much it was impossible to avoid them. I was broke but got my neighbor to burn me a CD with some songs. In 2003 I finally got Hybrid Theory, Reanimation and Meteora almost all at once. Live in Texas too. Bro, I played it SO MUCH. I would sit and listen to their albums in its entirety and read the booklets with the lyrics. I memorized everything. To this day even when I go a year or more without any LP, I can recite most of the lyrics. It's engrained in my brain forever.
I've listened to all their music even their last album. Honestly it wasn't for me but I still love their older sound. Minutes To Midnight was ok back in the day but it grew on me so much. It's hands down their best album after their Nu Metal sound. After the change. They experimented a lot and A Thousand Suns also is one that grew on me a lot over the years. I've enjoyed many songs here and there after that album. They just didn't click with me as much anymore. Maybe my tastes evolved. I mean, I'm way more into bands like Tool, Meshuggah, Animals As Leaders, Gojira, Nine Inch Nails, Queens of the Stone Age and lots more. But I will always be grateful for introducing me to Rock in a way that made me wanna continue digging for more music.
Limp Bizkit was also huge at the time, and I was heavy into them too but I grew out of it especially Fred. Can't really enjoy his lyrics nowadays. Too cringe and corny at times. Some songs are full on dumb. But the instrumentals STILL hold up to this day.

Linkin Park got me through my younger years. Chester was masterful musician and was someone you could really relate to. When it came over the radio he died I had to pull over. That same year my dad got sick with cancer. Again Chester got me through it. It breaks my heart no one saved him the same way he has saved some many. Now he helps my seventeen year old. ❤

Hey Devin, I need to hear experiences of other audiophiles and people who are emotionally/spiritually affected by music like I am to react to this song. Darkher "Lowly Weep" this song seriously fucked me up for an entire day, I spent about 25 minutes just sitting there mentally breaking down what I just heard and what it did to me. After an hour I put on "To The Hellfire" in an attempt to bring me out of the "brain fog", it worked to an extent but I didnt feel normal again until after I slept.
I've listened to it around 25 times, each time changing something, I get a different effect each time however the core affect this has on me remains the same. "Spiritual ascension and decension" is the best description I can give, feels like it literally grabs hold of your soul, lifts it up, let's you hover, then brings it down. Her voice and vocal style in this, to me is the very embodiment of ethereal like a angel or goddess is whispering to you. Her vocal volume is so low yet the note frequency is extremely high, theres certain areas where her voice makes my drivers cut out (center high, Soundcore Q30) the only other time I've heard driver failure is with Ashley Serena, her voice is extremely high, but still it's only a small "tisk" noise and nothing like with this.
I've had one reactor react to it and he felt a similar way, this is a song that must be experienced all the way through with no pause. If you could do it I would appreciate it immensely, thank you. I would like to hear others thoughts as well.
Sounds kinda crazy there may be some type of witchcraft at work here (good or bad idk). I know how sounds and frequencies can affect a person, like with binaural beats, ASMR, Meditation audio/video but I have never heard or experienced anything this potent in my life. Only 2 other times something like this has happened to me, in 2015 first time listening to Blackbriar "Until Eternity" and Lorna Shore "To The Hellfire" (many of you know what I mean with this).
I need to know what's going on with it especially the vocals, is it a sub harmonic? I've heard this vocal style a number of times but this is on a completely different plane. I listen to a TON of female vocalists particularly in ethereal siren like style. Only other ethereal style vocalists that effect me in any way similar to this are Zora Cock (Blackbriar), Ashley Serena, Malinda, and Adrienne Cowan (Seven Spires).
