Went from Fenix 7x and Android, to an iPhone and Apple Watch Ultra 2, had it for a few days and sold it and bought another Android and a Garmin Epix Pro 2 and couldn't be happier.
I bought an Ultra 2 10 days ago for a test ride and I'm thrilled, I usually walk about 50 km a day and the battery is more than enough for that. In other aspects the use and utility value of the Ultra is different to the garmin where I use their potential once in a while , but the Ultras make my day better 7 days a week from morning to night. So I have decided to sell my Epix 51. Thanks for the video and your insight.
I love the ultra- I truly do . I have Apple gear at home and use it for controlling my smart accessories- but, I do enjoy the garmin metrics - and wish they could be combined somehow- or let Apple load to garmin connect for the metrics side - but hey- maybe the next gen ultra- there is talk of a total redesign coming for the 10th generation- so we will see - thanks for the comment :-)
I’m the opposite if you are paying $700/800 on smartwatch you can’t get even a week of battery life epic fail Whilst the epix 2 pro I’m using 2 weeks. Solid battery life well I’m comparing fitness Watch & smart watch but dang it I’m getting my moneys worth 🙌 The day apple get a week battery life I return right now 3/4 dayish on the ultra no not cutting it EPIX is the King 😎🔦🫡
I hope for next Epix with Calling. Not need cellular, as bluetooth speaker would be great. Instead I prefer Garmins just because not so smart - so I can concentrate on sport or recovery and not to be disturped by all that notifications and apps.
I have both. The Ultra 2 is a smarter watch for everyday "urban and weekend sports"" use, and it looks fantastic. The Epix is an all around sports pro watch with a more classic look. I love both. Great video!
Many thanks. I have both as well. I’m leaning towards just using the Apple Watch as I have a heart issue. I have a heart blockage stage 1 which is not a big deal but if I go to stage 2 I may need a pacemaker. It’s too low a heart rate at times. In other words I miss a beat periodically. Apple has much better heart rate analysis and accuracy. If the Garmin Epix Pro gave me heart reports, I’d stick with it.
The epix and fenix (newest pro versions) offer an ecg however it’s only turned on in the US , not in the uk yet:-( . But the Apple Watch is pretty brilliant - and I am now wearing the epix daily- I do miss the AWU mind.
same boat I have tachycardia and use my watch which records the heart rate so I can show my dr. I also run self ECG and send it to their office via email!
I am coming to the conclusion that both are awesome watches. If you have tried both watches you will ultimately end up missing the feature you had on the other watch… viscous cycle lol. Through 3rd party apps and some planning, you can get the Apple Watch to do just about everything the Garmin can do. So it really comes down to battery. The Apple Watch has so much potential that is just waiting to be utilized for sports and outdoors. That all being said I still love my epix and find it hard to pick one to commit to.
I’m up and down like a yoyo- but planning a 300mile walk I want the battery, and the mapping. I’m hoping the ultra 3 will bridge as I do love the Apple Watch- but………🤷🏻♂️
I own the ultra 1 also series 8 also a garmin 965 I love them all and wear two watches 1 on each arm ultra and 965 the ultra because I can leave my phone at home! and use my wrist with my Bose ultra ear buds so I can have privacy while on the watch phone! and my garmin is just there if I need him !!
Oh my god right I’ve been swapping and changing daily for the past 8 months or so. So I’ve kept both I use AWU as a daily and the epix for days in the mountains or training
I don't know why these two watches are even compared they are for 2 different users!! the epix is a sports watch period apple is a all of the above! with more accurate metrics! I have both one on each arm the 965 and apple watch ultra because I use them both for different things!
For the people complaining about tne battery life on the Apple they only on 2nd gen I’ll say 2/4 days out of a watch that can do 90 of what a smartphone can do is a win eventually Apple will get much better

Yeah apparently there is text reply on android, not on Apple :-(

Thanks - appreciate the comment , and indeed the sentiment behind the watches!!

Garmin all the way!
Epic Pro so you don't have to be locked in to Apple Phones
I have the ultra and fenix 7. Love both but I think I’ll stick with garmin going forward. Sell both and buy the epix 8.
epix 8 is out already just a different name......

Well I am a consumer like you, and wore them both, but don’t want to wear two watches at the same time. Why can’t one watch do everything!

Yeah just like their phones 😩
The bezzl is to big for the Garmin.
AWU can do so much more than the garmin.
3 days battery life is just a joke
It’s ok if you’re home everyday - but - on the road it’s not. How are Apple not able to get a better battery life??
they will end up killing garmin with the micro led display due in 2025 supposed to be a huge power savings.

not everyone, like you, apparently lives in the jungle🤦🏻
