Gen Z is currently completely lost attempting to navigate the modern world. A generation with no purpose, no meaning in life, distracted and addicted. This is generation is constantly faced with the question... "whats the point".

I’m 32. Started worked at 18, the wages are all pretty close to back then but everything is 2-5x more expensive now. It’s depressing

Idk... I'm 35 and my salary has progress from 70k to 200k through the years. People need to hustle. Nobody said it was going to be easy.
I told all high school kids that they are the first generation that can’t retire nor buy a house. I also told them that we’ll see some sort of change in the next 10 years and that we’re basically on deadtime till then. This was about 7-8 years ago. Few knew of this but most just laughed. I hope those that did listen aren’t as screwed as the others.

The problem people don't understand is that simply moving out has also become unaffordable. Flights and accommodations have become so expensive that we literally get stuck where we were born and moving would take such a huge risk that we would probably also be jobless wherever we go.

Not my dad boomer. He's now disabled after doing everything right and all of his money goes to healthcare.
I'd say the best route for me is finding a way to make $3-$4K USD a month remotely and move to a country in southeast Asia, Latin America, or southern Europe. They also got really nice women abroad which is a bonus. I also could care less about the materialistic lifestyle offered by western countries.

I'm 24...didn't go to college/university....made alot of people close to me disappointed and confused..but now those same people come to me and say you made the right choice by not going. I'm planning to get out of Canada soon and move to somewhere in Asia. I grew up in Vancouver...and been living in Calgary since 2020. Can't say it's better than Vancouver...however it's slightly more cheaper..but like everywhere else in canada it's still unaffordable. I saw this economic crises coming back when I was 17 and when I talked about it with people..everyone was either drinking, having s*x, or chasing girls. So glad I realized it early because most of my high school graduation class have now graduated from college/university with mountains of student loan debt, no job that's related to their field of study, if they're working it's mostly Retail minimum wage which doesn't help with paying off the debt, and sadly alot of them have moved back living with their parents. They are very doomed and don't have the option of moving to a different country since they have these debts they have to pay back. It's heartbreaking and nonsense that we have to live like this. I'm Gen Z and I always get frustrated when I hear older people calling us lazy. They hardly understand what living in these circumstances feels like.
I was glad my son decided not to, they never REALLy Wanted college for peasants, it was separate the *important* people's kids from the unwashed masses spawn. They'll loan the money but it's just another trap. Used to be you needed a scholarship or grant, something tangible to shoe you were going to be useful in some capacity

He forgot to mention that when Gen Zs arecworking away, these companies will either lay you off, or you havecto job hop to try ramp up your income. These constant changes up the anxiety and alos, it costs in the short term to keep moving and shuffling.

You nailed it Adam. Times have changed and not for the best for younger people. In my worplace, there are two types of Gen Z: hardworking and "don't give a fuck". The hardworking ones make an effort in learning the trade and to be an asset to the team, our employer takes good care of hard working people. The other type just gets canned. I also noticed that Gen z is not into drinking as much as older generations. But ya! Cost of living is ridiculous to say the least. JT put our country into a silent depression. And yup! I will be retiring abroad myself.

You nailed it. I was running in place in Canada due to a variety of factors. I was in a position where I could leave and work remotely so I moved to Panama. Lower cost of living on top of having a territorial tax system (so no income tax paid) and I am laughing now. I should be able to retire very comfortably in the next 10-15 years if things go to plan.

Bro I almost 40 and after 10 years in trucking I can tell you this is true...you either need to drive across the country and spend time away from home or haul heavy stuff which is super stressful in most areas. People say get skills, Class A, get a education, spent 5 years following my schooling...did what I'm suppose to do at 21...it changes...then throw in something like COVID and your secure job isn't so secure. Thing is 40 rolls around and I've ended up in the same place.
One of my theories is people now get degrees in what used to be considered 'elective' classes. It may be cool as knowledge, a hobby, or general information, but they're not degrees you can get actual employment with. Just another pet peeve of mine 😏

I often explain this as the reason for a boom in “creatives” and “alternate” paths kids are trying to take. Old heads think they’re just obsessed with an easy check or computers/digital world but the flip side is why wouldn’t you try to gamble on innovative ideas even if they all fail? If one takes off you may possibly find respite from zero hope. If nothing works out for your 900 business ideas you’re right back where you would be: working a dead end job you hate for no benefit and growing debt. May as well shoot for the stars every day if there’s no consequences different between 20 years of loyal service to a company and 0.

The food is healthier and the weather is better, people are friendlier. We love it here and we have been holidaying here every winter for over 12 years prior to moving here.

$80k isn't a lot in most major metro areas anymore. The USD lost over 20% of its value in 24 months recently with the spike in inflation. Taxes also went up too under Biden due to the sunsetting of tax cuts. The dollar isn't worth what it used to be, get used to that reality. In most of the tier 1 metro areas in the USA you need ~$96k to live comfortably alone in an apartment.
The nothing option seems like a trap but can also inspire the un-lazy to gain experience to develop their own business or Idea or to better their life.
It does depend on attitude and motivation to have a dream.

Little bit doom and gloom and oversimplified but it's mostly accurate. My advice to the new younger generation is to get a solid trade, plumber, pipefitter, mechanic, electrician etc. The immigration in Canada is unsustainable and many of the new immigrants are turning out to not actually be doctors and lawyers. In demand trades are at all-time highs and many of these trades you can be paid to learn now, take that trade and arbitrage into your own business or stay in a union job and build the boomer life just at a slower pace. There is always a way and always an angle if you are hardworking and want to succeed, the world is surely changing from what our parents and grandparents had but for those of us willing to put in the work its still possible.

Unfortunate reality is the chosen (temporary) new home/country has changed in crazy ways over the last few years and no longet aligns. I am excited for the new adventure ahead just have to hang on for a little bit right now for various reasons

Old people, mostly boomers, wonder why Gen Z doesn't want to work. It is because there just isn't any real reward.
I can understand the Gen Z frustration because even if you DO take that path of working, there is constant worry about AI or robots taking your job. Of course low wage stressful jobs - the thought of AI taking over might not be so bad.
You missed the part about going to college for a minimum of 4 years, not gaining real-life job experience and not making money during that time. Plus the student debt.

Work or don't work ya you end up with the same thing anyway when you turn 65 or whatever. Some government pension and a subsidized apartment or government run nursing home. The best reason to work is at least you can save some left over money to invest into bitcoin or stocks or whatever. Something that has the potential to make you a lot more money down the line. But if you're just gonna go down the standard 9-5 route, with some average Joe job and afraid to take any chances than ya you'll end up in the exact same place as the person who basically didn't even bother working.

Loved the video! Fortunately, I got a $20,000 inheritance, but the only things I could think to do with it were stock market or bitcoin. I went with the stock market and made $3000 in a year which is hard in your first year, I made most of it with NVDA, which is an AI stock and unless you've been living in a cave, have not heard of it. I'm going to start a RUclips channel also. Looking forward to more of your videos. Lots of problems younger people have is their boomer parents who insist you do it their way or you are out of the house. I'm 44 and still dealing with that shit. The only reason I think I stick around is because of my 10 year younger siblings and my niece/nephew.

(Gen X here) Instead of complaining of all the doom-speak; I decided to crunch numbers for myself. Cheap rural house cost about $1200 a month, which means you need to earn about $70k a year. That's doable without a degree, but not for free. Find a union shop that supports livable wages, become a police officer, go into IT, look into "the trades", etc. Once you have a foot in the door... Keep looking for higher paying jobs, building your resume, etc. Don't give up and don't buy into stupid dreams. If you start a business (including content creation) do it on the side. In fact that can support the bills if you get fired. You don't need to move outside the USA, you don't need to be born rich, and you don't have to believe all the doom-speak.

As Canadians, complaining about salary is a bit much. We all come from a place of privilege. If you earn $60,000 a year, you're in the richest 1% percent of the world's population. We should be more grateful.

If they work, they can still enjoy more of what life has to offer rather than worrying about the future. I think home prices will go down. You say that Gen z will work and work and have nothing?? All this logic only applies to average normies. If you are ambitious enough to pursue a career that can earn 200k+ per year like high ticket sales, doctor, lawyer, senior software engineer, then you don't have to be screwed. For normies, humbling yourself to live with your parents for several years and saving 100% of the money from your job instead of splashing it on a fancy new car, apartment, etc when your broke ass clearly can't afford it will go a long way. Will it hurt your chances of getting laid temporarily? Maybe. Thats apparently too high of a cost to pay for most of Gen Z

Yea I mentioned in that video it would take me about two years to relocate my business down there on an E2 investors visa. That is still the plan.
