That was the antitrust in behalf of MCI against AT&T for not letting them connect truck radios to the wireline. Way before LD became a marketplace.
It took them ten year to get a judgement. The battle was waged before the late Bill McGowan took the reins and he carried along.
At the end MCI got more than it bargained for. It gave him and everyone else to jump in …
      1. Network unbundling ( a later unfolding )
      2. The growth of domestic wholesale market where you could start a Long Distance carrier by just buying up minutes in bulk.
      3. The break up of AT&T into Regional Bell Operating Companies ( RBOCs ). No longer AT&T could handle end to end services alone .
      4. The rise of equipment colocationnat RBOCs came in later. As a spur of this veridict.

@@MThomasB~ The fact is that capitalism is a political tool and some people use the word ‘predatory’ in connection with capitalism to create the illusion that there’s a form of capitalism that isn’t inherently predatory; but in fact, capitalism doesn’t even work without the opportunity for exploitation, which is the very nature of the predator: to take advantage of, exploit or prey upon the disadvantaged, the disabled, those in need of healthcare and the financially or otherwise vulnerably handicapped. This is the reason that what the United States calls competition is rightly perceived by China as confrontation; because where there is competition, there’s always a winner and a loser and quite often more than one loser. Rightly or wrongly, however, it certainly is NOT, nor can it be seen as an effort at cooperation. The capitalist system depends on a growing economy (or profit expansion) to work properly, but the banking system is based on the creation of debt which gets back to the predatory nature of capitalism. It just doesn’t work for the common everyday people. It only works for those who are already wealthy to funnel wealth from the bottom up.

I bet this winds up being yet another way for us to happily give away more our right to privacy under the guise of taking down a monopoly

Example of how a small tech company I am part of has lost because of tying antitrust arrangements: We made 36,000 in profit in 2018/19. We now have zero. ADP bought the companies we used online and has agreements controlling all the suppliers/vendors, payment processing, and requires service providers like us to apply for every service contract with our former clients. Professional liability insurance is nearly imposdible to collect on after fund losses due to conflict of interests and antitrust.
