      Thanks, will admit I've been focusing a bit more on winning lately and less on commentary after a few lean weeks of steady losses. Realised I can't cruise control to victory in tournament games - always gotta give it my all! Hopefully it's still worth your time.
      Will try and improve the commentary quality again and hopefully find that happy medium :D

    Also lol the late arriving wasps were so incredibly late they didn't matter

    I've never look at this game beyond "it's very pretty" but the previous video has got me super interested in it from a watching competitive play perspective, so I guess I'll be around a while :) Praise the Algorithm
    Also, love your little information overlay additions in post, helpful for someone with zero game knowledge!

      Haha, my pleasure, glad you're enjoying watching! Will admit after a long day sometimes I don't actually play, I just spectate the best players in the world through the game client and try to absorb their skills through osmosis!

    Hackers and StormCallers by round two is amongst the most disgusting thing I have seen in this game XD. They really needed to go air, range on Tarantulas or loose formation crawlers to stand a chance

    • @Drone_101
      @Drone_101  Месяц назад +2

      Hahaha, yeah... I felt pretty bad at the end of the game. I'm sure it was a pretty rough game to be on the other side of, hence the apology as the win screen popped up. Don't like ruining people's day but I do play to win.

    Wow, pretty onesided match. This is pretty much the earliest-game hacker deployment I've seen, I'm a bit surprised they went largely unanswered. They can't hack air units, yeah?
    As usual, love editing drn's byplay, keep up the good work!

    • @Drone_101
      @Drone_101  Месяц назад +1

      Thanks Werdna! Yeah - was an interesting game from a theory pespective, I don't think our opponent had a clear plan in mind for dealing with the Hackers other than trying to outscale them with Carry Sniper.

    • @Drone_101
      @Drone_101  Месяц назад +2

      They're quite situational. So long as you're confident you can win the chaff battle and aren't facing much air they're strong. If you lose the chaff battle or are facing overwhelming air superiority they're weak. Think of them as more fragile and shorter ranged Stormcallers that can't clear chaff and you'll probably start noticing nice rounds to try them it!

      Be careful! Think I've made some enemies for life by using Hackers - some people absolutely despise them :D

  • @olegoleg258
    @olegoleg258 Месяц назад +2

    The hacker is really such a weird unit. Acquire it too early and you get swarmed by the enemy/countered. Acquire too late and itll just be unable to do anything. The enemy slightly pivots into any direction and you falter. But by god when you make it work you'll end up with two armies at the end of the round

    • @olegoleg258
      @olegoleg258 Месяц назад +2

      Personally, the hacker is most annoying when it prevents me from punishing players being too close to the edge/border by dropping explodey rhinos right in front of them. Even more than EMP

      @Drone_101  Месяц назад +2

      I'm sorry on review before uploaded I'd normally do a second pass and add a unit card there but sometimes these things fall through the cracks in my production pipeline. Editing DRN will be duly flogged. ;D

    Something strong enough to shutdown round 1 Tarantula, that early damage up paid for itself.
    Sad to see need for hackers, but all is fair in love and war. Did not know about hacked unit EXP, good info to have
    Edits on point and wonderful to hear Editor DRN found a soundbite he loves.
    It's more of a personal ask, but I would love to hear your thoughts on the techs your opponents bring, not just the bought ones. Might help as filler between rounds?
    As always, wishing you the best of luck and all the Sledgehammers

      Thanks dude, will look into doing more tech discussion in future - won't be able to adjust in the middle of this tournament arc tho, sorry. Find myself enjoying Cost Control a lot at the moment, the extra money to burn really makes the game feel easier when wanting to buy 2 units a turn and get those critical techs in a timely manner.

  • @MasterSherwood001
    @MasterSherwood001 Месяц назад +1

    If your composition is mustang+hacker then doesn't the second tower attack upgrade become more valuable than almost any other tech?

    • @Drone_101
      @Drone_101  Месяц назад

      Yeah from a dps perspective it's a very solid choice. The question is, which tech would you skip to make space for it? We only took three things here; Range on Mustangs, and then Range and Shields on the Hackers. I think it'd be unwise to skip any of those three to rush for the second tower damage up, particularly as Cost Control Specialist facing Ranged Mustangs and Scorpions across the board.
      Happy to hear your thoughts though and it's a good idea to always consider the +300 cost Attack up. Must admit I often ignore those second level tower ups even when I probably shouldn't - so thanks for the reminder! :D
      The Wasps being super late and not being needed was fine. I'm never sad to have left over units at the end of the round! If we'd ended up with Hackers vs Snipers as clean up then I think the late Wasps would be worth their weight in gold, helping us ensure the win.

  • @dompruss
    @dompruss Месяц назад +1

    I almost feel like the hackers were a turn early? Is there a reason you didn't get more chaff clear prior to hackers?

    • @Drone_101
      @Drone_101  Месяц назад +2

      Knew our opponent had zero chaff round 1, so round 2 they could have at most 3 units worth. We already had two Arclights on the board so I was angling for early levels on a Hacker to try and get the ball rolling quickly.
      We had a shield drop so it felt like an ideal opportunity to protect one early too. Think it was a reasonable response when facing zero chaff round 1 but I'm open to hearing other opinions. We learn best when we disagree and have to defend our choices! :D

    • @dompruss
      @dompruss Месяц назад +1

      @@Drone_101 It worked beautifully in this game, but I can't help but feel like OP could have hard pivot'ed into something like mass fangs, or wasps on turn 3 or 4. I felt like with their mid sized and sniper setup, going two extra storm callers would have dealt with his both his snipers, fangs, and destroyed their tarantulas. I guess that would have made you even more vulnerable to air and changed the game plan?

    • @Drone_101
      @Drone_101  Месяц назад

      @@dompruss Yep, that's the great thing about Mechabellum - everything has a counter. It's why I supplemented our board with four sets of Ranged Mustangs - to cover the weaknesses of the Hackers and present a different problem for him to answer.
      If he goes Vulcan we're gonna steal them for ourselves. He went Mustang so my answer would probably be more Stormcallers to provide extra pressure on the Scorpions too, and present the Anti-Missile question. Tend to find if people play Mustang vs Mustang but theirs are distracted shooting missiles down it's a fairly easy win. I'd need to go Full Heal on the Hackers so we don't end up blowing up bigger stuff before the hackers get the job done but now we're talking 2 or 3 turns down the line so it's all hypothetical! Hope that line makes some semblance of sense :D

      Now you know how Editing DRN feels! He's always rooting for our opponents :D
      Nah, I totally get it. Do worry that Hackers are a little strong - there's games that we have no business winning that Hackers totally flip on their head.
      They're also very niche and more of a chaff/chaff clear check really. As Frank Herbert once said: He who controls the Chaff controls the universe.
