    Many thanks for taking much of the seat guesswork out. You were working with your Daniel Boone upholstery hat on. I'm getting after the C124 driver's seat base. Many thanks for the courage!!
    Be well.

    Very informative video! Just in case anyone is interested the material in doubt is not horse hair but coconut fibers.

      That’s interesting, makes sense seeing how robust the material is

    Thanks for uploading this! In fact, my MB Tex was even worse than yours with larger tears and more of them, on both the bottom and back. It was either a feral raccoon or a toddler with a knife I'm sure. I'm keeping the heated seats so I have some additional work to extract and stitch back in the heating elements, but this gives me enough confidence to try.

    • @AutoAfflicted
      @AutoAfflicted  Год назад +1

      Yes! Glad it gave you confidence, if you can avoid feral raccoons 🦝 all will be smooth

    +1 Wow! .. A timely post as I've begun fitting a drivers (base) seat leather on our '94 C124 Coupe. .. I'd found original OEM leather & components from an MB dealership in Greece via eBay. .. (First rate service by the way) .. The "Seat Repair" video takes huge of guesswork out of the process. .. Many thanks! .. Vail, Colorado

    Im in the same process. I bought a nice passenger side seat and placing the leather into my drivers seat. I have removed the bottoms with the springs dettached from the frame,bacause I was afraid of damaging the horsehair pad.
    Thanks for the video

      Same! This car sat in the Bay Area for 8 years, likely going through tons of heat and moisture cycles - glad to have some soft MB-Tex installed now

    Hi! Can you help me with seat back lock? Both of my backrests are not fixed and recline in both directions without a button. the vacuum seems to be working, the tubes seem to be sealed, but there is no fixation. I didn’t take the seat apart much, I didn’t remove the trim from it, can you give me some advice?

    • @AutoAfflicted
      @AutoAfflicted  Год назад +1

      Sounds like it may be disconnected from the motor - you’ll have to pull it apart to see what is actually going on. If the back lock function was the only part failing, it would fold forward but not backwards not recline

    • @Athleticmix
      @Athleticmix Год назад +2

      @@AutoAfflicted thank you! where is the motor located? Under the skin? In general, do you recommend removing the seat trim and looking at what's inside? someone told me that it was possible to do something like artificially inject into the system to see how the mechanism works.

    • @AutoAfflicted
      @AutoAfflicted  Год назад +1

      You may be able to see what going just by removing the plastic trim. Is it lifting at the front of the seat? Perhaps some screw came out of the frame?

    • @Athleticmix
      @Athleticmix Год назад +2

      @@AutoAfflicted hmmm… idk it seemed to be lifting . I have manual seats.

    • @AutoAfflicted
      @AutoAfflicted  Год назад +1

      Take the back panel off a see what’s going on inside. That’s easy and should reveal much

    Thank you for this video. I have just replaced the bungees on the back of the front seats of my 300CE. The technique and sequence required to get the back of the seat off is not intuitive. I would have been reluctant to use the amount of force if you hadn't shown how it is done. Great video!!

      Hi 👋🏽 as you can see in the video, I purchased a set of sedan seat and moved the skins over. There are company’s that make reproductions skins for $400-900 or more and I’ve heard of people finding skins at MB dealers in the EU . Best of luck on your journey
