I want to see racing not someone flat out all by themselves. Yeah they are going fast but without actual racing which Yas Marina does not live up to. This track after 5 laps not one car is within a turn of each other. It ends up looking like qualifying. Very boring.... I fall asleep every time I watch this race. That's how boring it is. The same could also be said about Hockenheim, Melbourne or Suzuka, but I believe that’s another topic.

    I feel like Interlagos MUST be the season finale ! It has offered some great moments over the years. I started watching in 98 so I wouldn't know before that. But everytime, it's AT LEAST a good race, with half the GPs there being great, and some legendary ones. And a season finale, the unpredicatability of this race, the weather of the region, and the nature of the track makes it perfect for a tense title decider ! Of course we had 2007, 2008 and 2012. While Abu Dhabi didn't produce any great race.
    I love the combinaison of Albert Park as GP n°1 (and the changes they've made are exciting) and Interlagos as finale !!
    Sadly, the Gulf Oil Money took over and they have the final races now... I'd rather have a final 3 of Suzuka, Sepang and Interlagos. But hey... At least it's still here for now :x but if it was to disappear, it would be tragedy for F1 as you said, just like if we lost Silverstone, Suzuka, Spa or Monza. Or Monaco for different reasons.

    • @otaviofrn_adv
      @otaviofrn_adv 9 месяцев назад

      and Interlagos has been one of the final races only since 2004, before that the brazilian races were always among the first ones in the season.
      It's a great track, don't get me wrong, but the best part for me, and that's ideal in a season finale with title fight, is the rain. You're always wandering if it's gonna happen, how much will it rain, and how things will shake up due to it and in the case of us brazilians that know the track better, from which direction it will arrive (from many places it's a lot, but from one specific part is a biblical downpour). The elevation change is a strong net positive in favour of the racing itself, for me it's one of the fundamental points of a great track.

      Even though Monaco was cool, I never really liked the track, The only thing i like about Monaco is the hairpin... And some parts are just horrible on regular turns. e.g. the exit of the tunnel as well as the chicane, the last corner and the exit of the corner after the hairpin.
      Edit: And the only overtakes are in the pits

    I remember shouting at the TV when Vettel got spun with my dad as a kid. I remember watching raikkonen win the championship as a kid. I remember sharing the pain Massa and his entourage felt. I also remember Button avoiding being kidnapped but that isn't racing. This track should be a the season ender regardless of how poor the area is. That adds to it. Brazil and F1 go hand in hand thanks to the past. I hate ending on Yas Marina, it should be a mid season race. The last race should be mean so much to everyone that it is hard to explain but interlagos gives me that feeling and I think certain drivers would feel the same. And this is coming from a half Irish/ half French dude.

      so do I. If we had Jacarepaguá still, I would disagree with the move, but knowing it would be in a good place for racing. Thing is that our president between 2018-22 is from Rio and he waged a political war against the São Paulo State Governor at the time. That's even why the name was changed to "São Paulo Grand Prix"

    This racetrack is so important for us brazilians, the history of interlagos is just so vast and the racetrack is just so good, it is part of the memory of the people to turn on the televisions and put on the Globo channel at the sunday morning for the race. Our racing culture is not as vast as other countries but is still big, but it didn't mattered at the end, we all would sit down and watch an amazing race on an amazing racetrack. And besides the "S of Senna" turn is still something kind of sentimental, my grandparents and parentes told me all about him, he was a hero and we are all glad that his memory will always live in that track

      Thing is many other racing competitions worldwide never catch traction here. F1 caught because we had winners for the longest time. At least one win from probably 1970-1993 and from 2000-2009, except 2005. 8 championships in that span. Indycar found success here too. Brazilians love winning more than anything.
      We don't have a ton of major international wins in endurance racing or international touring competitions, and those would be great to see here. Our best overall result in Le Mans was 2nd with Raul Boesel with a Silk Cut Jaguar in 1991. We have nowadays some good drivers in the GT categories, but no drivers in the Hypercar/LMP2 divisions.
      This makes F1 the only major international copmetition to race in Interlagos.

    IMO Interlagos is one of the best circuits in all of South America, with a close second the Mexican Hermanos Rodriquez circuit. That one also has largely retained its classic vibe but I am _still_ not a fan of the stadium section at the end, as they call it. A return to the Peraltada would've been much cooler, like in Zandvoort.
    My favourite race on this circuit was Brazil 06. While Schumi lost the title that year, it showed why he was and still is one of the very best drivers out there, coming back from a puncture to fourth. Brilliant race!
