  • Seeing my daughter, Kumari Gowri, struggle with scoliosis from a young age was incredibly difficult. Diagnosed at just six years old, her journey has been one of resilience and courage. The early years were marked by a constant concern about her condition and how it would affect her growth and well-being.
When Gowri was 12, she underwent her first major surgery - tethering of the cord with a D8-D10 laminectomy for SCM type 2. This procedure was a significant step in managing her condition, but we knew it was just the beginning of her journey to recovery.
As she turned 15, it became apparent that further medical intervention was necessary. We were referred to Prof. Arun Ranganathan, Clinical Lead & Senior Consultant, Orthopaedics, Spine and Trauma at Narayana Health City, Bangalore for a consultation. After a thorough evaluation, he advised a posterior scoliosis correction and fusion from D3 to L5. The decision to proceed with this surgery was daunting, but we trusted the medical team's expertise.
The surgery was a turning point in Gowri's life. The care and professionalism at Narayana Health City were outstanding, and the surgery was successful. What amazed me the most was seeing Gowri walk independently on the day of her discharge. It was a moment of immense joy and relief, a witness to her strength and the skill of her medical team.
Today, Gowri's transformation is remarkable. Her physical health has improved, and she carries herself with newfound confidence and happiness. It's a story of hope and resilience that I hope will inspire others facing similar challenges.
