Thank you Alan for the detailed comparison between the XB43 and the MBPlus. I sold my XB43 before the MBPlus arrived. For my listening taste, it didn't stand a chance against the normal Boom. The XB43 distorts on some pieces of music when boosting the highs with a 3rd party EQ. Unfortunately, it wasn't any better than the XB33, which doesn't have a tweeter. Only the deep tones were clearly more pronounced. For me, not enough benefits. On the other hand, the MBPlus cannot keep up with the MB either. The high tones of the MBPlus sound like a horn tweeter, as if they were designed for party volume and not fidelity. In addition, the bass of the MB sounds clearly separated from the treble, drier. The MBPlus definitely has what it takes to reproduce the finest tones, unfortunately always mixed with a breeze of upper mids that sound unpleasant when listening to music. Nevertheless, I don't cry for the XB43, because even with the disadvantages of the MBPlus, which can only be corrected to a limited extent with EQ, I still love their more detailed sound. I'm sorry for Soundcore that I'm using the MBPlus differently than intended. But the MB proved that you can tune a speaker for both indoors and outdoors. Note: my opinion is based solely on listening at home, in the stereo triangle (TWS mode). In my day (80's) a detailed sound image was an indication of good sound combined with a good recording. Lively high tones could only be reproduced by very good cassette decks and tape machines. That has shaped me to this day. So maybe my taste in sound doesn't match up with a young person who might put more emphasis on bass.

@@alanrossreviews I agree. That thing apparently sounds amazing and is a soundcore killer. And it comes with lights. Personally if it really does sound better than the motion boom plus then overall I think it’s just a better speaker
These bluetooth speakers that are now flooding the market are not hi fi and never will be, we are in a similar time like the late 70's and early 80's when the radio cassette ghetto blasters were at their heyday out doing each other mostly by size. Its just nice to see that the portable sound market has got some excitment and debate back thanks to these class D amplifiers they now use.

using your eq as of today because you seem MUCH more qualified than me just screwing around on the app haha. I'm using this as a replacement for the blown sound system in my 99 miata. more than enough for competing with the road noise AND goes with me out to the beach!
The presets were all useless to me, but when on custom mode with all sliders flat or highs tunes down a bit, it sounded amazing. I didn’t hear any peaks or excess that sounding non intentional or non addressable with some quick eq tweaking. I compared it to the normal motion boom and it sounded better with extended bass and highs. I was personally extremely pleased and blown away and would easily recommend it even without the earlier bird discount. The left passive radiator came loose after the second day and began to rattle though. Waiting for my replacement.
@@alanrossreviews I spent 6 years trashing Bose because my sound-link mini needed a new battery (most likely from the start), and I never heard the speaker properly until a month ago when I learned I could replace it myself for 30$ with a battery from Amazon. Im curios if this is a similar situation where person A really is receiving a different sound from the same product as person B for whatever reason, and it’s more than a matter of taste and ears ect ect. Alan, have you ever thought about doing outdoor sound tests? At least for bigger speakers like Motion Boom Plus Btw, I’m feelin your latest EQ for MBP.
id like to but its just not practical for me. first there is nowhere suitable near me and also im all about controlled environment which im setup for at home.
I took the MBP to the lake the other day and I had 3 people come up to me asking where I got the speaker from. One had a Bugani M83 in tow lol. So in a nutshell this speaker sounds good to really good when played outdoors.
This time around I wanted a speaker that could really go loud and travel, and the MBP sure delivers there. I live next to a highway and the Flip 5 (understandably) didn't, but the Extreme 3 was hardly any better even! For the cost, that was a huge disappointment. Overall with Soundcore EQ + Android EQ I've been able to tune the MBP to a pretty good level to fit my taste and needs. I believe for the early bird price + volume, bass and travel, it's going to be worth keeping. For really QUALITY sound, may want to look elsewhere, but thats not to say this speaker can't sound pretty darn good itself after playing around. All depends on tastes and needs for it. Stick this thing in a corner of the apartment and the bass it creates is sure to get me a noise complaint in no time... haha.
@@Shibby7634 Yeah. Freakin’ Loud, much? I wouldn’t dare play this speaker over 50% indoors because I would most definitely have a neighbor knockin on my door within minutes. Been doing A vs B comparison the past week with the Boom vs Boom Plus. Right out of the box, I was sure I'd be shipping the Plus back due to the forward harsh sound. Like Alan, I found it nearly unlistenable indoors. However now after a full week of HEAVY playtime, the sound has suddenly & notably sweetened! I now actually am enjoying detailed highs without silibance & a rich bass w/o too much punch (much moreso than the relatively high freq lacking, weaker bass, tinier sound of the Boom). Playing with my EQ settings has also helped to find my sweet spot (none of mine are max'd). I'm now stoked I kept the Boom Plus thru the lengthy break in period! Most speakers need a substantial break in before sounding their best. Waterproof titanium drivers, seem to need even more - which makes sense as materially they need to be stiff. I also believe Anker will be releasing a new firmware with an improved eq response in the near future.
Thanks again Alan for a great review. When running in my boom plus at about 15% volume I got about 19 to 22 hours of continuous playback. When cranked up, generally playing varied rock at about 70% or slightly more, I could not get more than eight hours continuous. One intresting thing was if connected to a good power bank, it would double the playing time. (Just a little suggestion) Put on a Mark Knophler wig complete with headband stick your boom plus on about 65% vol and listen to Sultans of Swing at a distance of about 2 to 2.5 meters.
no it has mid bass not deep bass. the motion boom is better value or the likes of the motion boom plus would be louder, lighter and punchier. but the xb43 has a very safe sound is the best bet for multi genre indoor listening
As A Soundcore Fan, Have Many Headphones etc, The OG Boom is A Steal ( I Have 4) But Srs Xb43 X 2 , With proper eq, is On a different level, lf you Have One, I Strongly Recommend Hunting Down A Second, Being Heavily Discounted Now

@@alanrossreviews thank you for your help love the channel. For sound, is the soundcore or Stormbox better? Weight doesn't matter as it sits on my back seat.
well others have said this too. do we know for sure they are not titanium? i mean if they are not it goes beyond marketing and is simply a lie. but either way i think we get too carried away with the material specs when all that matters is how it sounds.
When it comes to comparing sony to motion boom plus it seems to me that sony sounds clearer and cleaner to me than soundcore. Soundcore makes up for the high bass and high volume 😜😜
The Boom Plus is A Big Fail, Hopefully Soundcore Take this onboard, Boom Next Generation, Should Be , Full Range with Better And Bigger Drivers, Ldac Support, And Line input
Agreed re: tuning the boom plus has a TERRIBLE tune out of the box, and tweeters that are overly sharp. My main comment though, turn the bass DOWN. It's too much. It gives you a kicking. If you're going to complain that the bass is to heavy (agreed), but turn the bass down on your custom EQ! 😜
Then its simply boring, go loud or go home, this speaker is nothing without its bass. If you are someone who wants to turn its bass down then this really isnt the speaker for you. Also turning the bass puts even more emphasis on the highs, ouch 🤪
@@alanrossreviews Always fun to watch ! 😁 By the way I also sent a mail to soundcore asking to fix the sound too, the more people that do it, the more likely they will fix it 💪
@@alanrossreviews That's indeed the case, the tightness at first completely sold me ! And since I got it early, I was on the previous firmware that didn't have the 6khz peak. 👍 Now that I am on the latest firmware and that I spent some time with it, I have issues with highs, even if I still like the speaker overall. Especially since I reduced highs in EQ 😝 soft treble, but the speaker is not harsh 80% of the time now 😁
Honestly, when listening to things like jazz, the Sony sounds way better. The soundcore is focused on bass. When there is little to no bass, the speaker struggles and becomes a bit harsh on the ears

@@santi8751 I checked Floss comparison between Blast and MB+ and was totally biased to Tribit, I'll wait for Alan honest review, points to Floss he reviewed so quickly.
allan there will be revisions motion + only Bluetooth module revision from QC3008 to QC3031 now support AptxHD dual core cpu 32bit and DSPN from Qualcomm let see the sound when they released everything Insaid remains the same as the old one...
future versions of the boom plus will have aptxhd?
just a few more updates & its "bug fixed" ready to be used indoors as well
Or it may say daft tuning fixed? 🤔
Hi Alan, any chance to get Tribit Stormbox Blast for review?
it will happen... 👌
I also believe Anker will be releasing a new firmware with an improved eq response in the near future.
or could your ears have adjusted??
Great review!
cheers 😁💪
Thanks again Alan for a great review. When running in my boom plus at about 15% volume I got about 19 to 22 hours of continuous playback. When cranked up, generally playing varied rock at about 70% or slightly more, I could not get more than eight hours continuous. One intresting thing was if connected to a good power bank, it would double the playing time. (Just a little suggestion) Put on a Mark Knophler wig complete with headband stick your boom plus on about 65% vol and listen to Sultans of Swing at a distance of about 2 to 2.5 meters.
8 hrs at 70% is good, but not everyone is getting that.
@Alan Ross Sony SRS XB43 have good deep bass? Or do you have better options for me Sir
no it has mid bass not deep bass. the motion boom is better value or the likes of the motion boom plus would be louder, lighter and punchier. but the xb43 has a very safe sound is the best bet for multi genre indoor listening
Thank you very much @Alan Ross
exellent review alan of course!! but? i wonder if i can build a shelter out of my bluetooth speakers when the nwo turnes off our power. lmfao!!
anything is possible 😁😁
Just got an xb43 for 60 dollars and it is amazing
Its ok, not sure about amazing 😇
As A Soundcore Fan, Have Many Headphones etc, The OG Boom is A Steal ( I Have 4) But Srs Xb43 X 2 , With proper eq, is On a different level, lf you Have One, I Strongly Recommend Hunting Down A Second, Being Heavily Discounted Now
Is Motion Boom Plus a good speaker, please?
in the right circumstances it can deliver. its a party speaker.
We are waiting for Encore Essential! 😍
not in UK yet.
First. Should I buy the motion boom plus is it worth the 180$ price tag?
Yes
Maybe wait for the tribit xsound blast. It sounds like it could be better
When they'll fix the sound, yes
@@ThibautMahringer ill hold off for now then
@@ThibautMahringer btw I clicked on ur channel awhile back on another alan ross video and saw the wonderland ost track and I gotta say it's a straight banger
Hi Alan, out of any speaker you have tried, which would you recommend for in an extremely loud car. I have a charge 4 that I need to maximize the volume to hear and it's all highs, sounds terrible. Thanks!
Whats the budget? Motion boom will be louder than c4
i dont know the monster blaster but i like the stormbox blast if you dont mind the size and weight
@@alanrossreviews thank you for your help love the channel. For sound, is the soundcore or Stormbox better? Weight doesn't matter as it sits on my back seat.
Blast if you are a big bass lover, motion boom for a more relaxed listen
Firmware update 00:34 out today
I think i might just go for the regular Boom and leave this one be with such big treble peaks and lack of balance at lower volumes.
Tribit Blast is coming to Amazon. Hold off.
the smaller boom is still a classic with a more balanced sound than the plus. but wont have the same loudness or punch.
Why arent you tweaking the treble up on the Sony? It sounds alot bettef then
The soundcore drivers are not actually titanium. They are just plastic being marketed as titanium. That’s kinds scummy of them
well others have said this too. do we know for sure they are not titanium? i mean if they are not it goes beyond marketing and is simply a lie. but either way i think we get too carried away with the material specs when all that matters is how it sounds.
When it comes to comparing sony to motion boom plus it seems to me that sony sounds clearer and cleaner to me than soundcore. Soundcore makes up for the high bass and high volume 😜😜
a lot depends on the volume you play the xb43 at, it tends to change a lot with volume
@@alanrossreviews I am waiting for the new sony speakers that appear in July this year 😋
tribit stormbox b video! :OOOOOOO
i dont have the stormbox blast, not out in UK yet.
Boom plus is way better...Easy pick...
poor little xb43, never had a chance 🤭
i’m finally here early!
yo! you made it on time!
Кому нравится Сони у того нет ущей)))
🤔
the sony is rubbish, it weighs 3 kilos and has no volume, the bass is very weak for the weight and it sounds pretty dull and hollow
you have to tweak via its app eq for sure.
The Boom Plus is A Big Fail, Hopefully Soundcore Take this onboard, Boom Next Generation, Should Be , Full Range with Better And Bigger Drivers, Ldac Support, And Line input
its better than at the start though after some tweaks.,
Sony xb43 it's just a noisy fart noise
well not quite that bad imho 🤐
Agreed re: tuning the boom plus has a TERRIBLE tune out of the box, and tweeters that are overly sharp.
My main comment though, turn the bass DOWN. It's too much. It gives you a kicking. If you're going to complain that the bass is to heavy (agreed), but turn the bass down on your custom EQ! 😜
Then its simply boring, go loud or go home, this speaker is nothing without its bass. If you are someone who wants to turn its bass down then this really isnt the speaker for you. Also turning the bass puts even more emphasis on the highs, ouch 🤪
Poor XB43... It will be destroyed overall 😝
but fun to watch 😁😁👍
@@alanrossreviews Always fun to watch ! 😁
By the way I also sent a mail to soundcore asking to fix the sound too, the more people that do it, the more likely they will fix it 💪
but you liked it when you first got it? the more you listen the more you hear its issues?
@@alanrossreviews That's indeed the case, the tightness at first completely sold me ! And since I got it early, I was on the previous firmware that didn't have the 6khz peak. 👍
Now that I am on the latest firmware and that I spent some time with it, I have issues with highs, even if I still like the speaker overall.
