Japanese has no articles, so there are no equivalents to English words like "the", "a", "an", and "some". Dropping these makes English easier to understand for Japanese speakers. Japanese also doesn't distinguish between singular and plural forms. As someone who teaches English to children in Japan, I can't tell you how difficult it is to teach them how English articles work. It's a grammatical feature that a native English speaker literally never questions or even thinks about.
