    Gabe, you should explore metrics karate combat may have regarding viewership.
    I think it's likely your fight in particular was watched by a lot of people due to your YT channel.
    I hope karate combat appreciates the publicity they're getting from you.

    That point about a potential Cobra Kai x Karate Combat collab. That would be absolutely MASSIVE for the sport.

    • @honigdachs.
      @honigdachs. 2 года назад +6

      That would be insane if they could get onto the show. Kinda write it into the plot that there's this crazy new tournament that's in a pit, where they could show off some scenes featuring actual KC dudes. They would need to bring on Bas in some capacity, who already has acting experience, so no problem there. It would be awesome.

    I would love to see more Kyokushin fighters. I also want to see Taekwondo fighters eventually down the line. old school Taekwondo was very similar to Karate so it would fit well. I also want to see more Japanese fighters. Japan is able to produce lots of solid full contact Karate fighters, getting them on Karate Combat would be cool. I'm also fine with the knees and leg kicks as long as they are introduced separately and not rushed.

      Ericsson Samuel is a IG Influencer and Regional level Pro MMA fighter with a TKD Black Belt and Damian Villa is 2x WT World Medalist in Taekwondo both are signed to Karate Combat. Karate Combat also recently signed a Polish Kyokushin based Kickboxer who has even competed in Lumpinee Stadium.

      I would too, but it seems Kyokushin guys are far more interested in fighting other stylists than they are fighting other Karateka. It's like a tradition where Kyokushin guys go onto Glory and K-1 while Shotokan is stuck in point fighting limbo.

    Hi Gabriel @GabrielVargaOfficial, just watched a short Karate Combat RUclips video aired 4 months ago, of Bas Rutten and George St. Pierre saying that front knees, roundhouse knees are already allowed in Karate Combat! Good news for many and specially for you! I enjoyed watching your 2 impressive fights in KC. Thank you!!

  • @columodonnell9202

    Id love if KC had knees and thigh kicks. It would be different enough to kickboxing because of the gloves and the ground and pound.

    A lot of people seem to criticise Karate competitions (independently from Karate Combat, to WKF kumite, JKA, etc.) as kickboxing with no "karate", as in traditional karate.
    My questions would be:
    What did you perceive as uniquely karate in Bruno's style? Do these uniquenesses have more in common with the more traditional or the sport (modern kumite) side of karate?
    Ultimately, do you think there should be one kind of karate or that both sides can be practiced altogether?

    • @GabrielVargaOfficial
      @GabrielVargaOfficial  2 года назад +6

      Bruno's style was not the way I envision "karate". I think either point fighting or more like Kyokushin.
      I feel like he's altered his style well to suit the Karate Combat rules which are more like other realistic striking styles.
      That's probably a reason Bruno was 5-1 going into our fight. He was doing good work.

      @@GabrielVargaOfficial What do you think about traditional Okinawan styles like Goju-ryu or Shito-ryu? Those styles seem to have a lot more emphasis on grappling and clinch, and generally seem much more realistic than modern sport karate like Shotokan. A good RUclips channel exhibiting it is called Karate Culture that maybe you could check out!

    • @jacopo.dainotto

      @@GabrielVargaOfficial edit:
      If you envision karate as either Kyokushin style of kumite, or point style of kumite, then I assume that your perception of karate isn't just about a specific way of fighting. Do you think it would be safe to name "karate" other karate-derived styles such as kickboxing, kudo, karate combat, Kyokushin, American kenpo and the main WKF styles like shotokan, wado ryu, shitoryu, and so on?

    I do think it's valid for people to ask about bruises and cuts regardless of if you're a guy or girl. A lot of people get into combat sports and martial arts sadly due to bad circumstances, though it hopefully helps them grow and become more confident in themselves. Got into an altercation a while ago with a stranger on the street and it's made me reevaluate things. I'm actually planning on starting classes with Pura Vida BJJ/MMA because I want to at least try to get an amateur fight before I pass.

    • @GabrielVargaOfficial
      @GabrielVargaOfficial  2 года назад +3

      Agreed. Being concerned for someone with bruises or cuts isn't a bad thing.
      If you have bruises or cuts and someone asks just recognize it's usually with good intentions.

    • @dacedebeer2697

      I usually give people at work a heads up. Like I tell them, I spar weekly, if I ever show up bruised or cut I just had little too much fun. I'm a guy of course, so people aren't usually overly concerned for my well being.

    • @columodonnell9202

      It doesnt right now. Investors are pumping it with money, as a long term plan, so their share of KC will be worth more down the line, once KC has caught on.
