If you have to question whether what you're experiencing is really love, most likely it isn't.
Love is not simply an abundance of feelings, although those exist. It's the decision to keep the relationship going, despite the hardships or trials.
I've heard people say that true love can't be experienced unless the other returns it, and I believe that's true.
Love only works if there's trust, communication and understanding, it's not just a bunch of meaningless words and feelings.
It's not healthy to obsess over finding the one. Rather, even if you meet someone you're interested in, make sure you each have your own personal life, friendships and hobbies.
As much as you like that person, remember that love is rare and friendships and relationships do end. Do your part in the relationship, but take it slow. If your small actions aren't acknowledged or returned, or the other doesn't seem to see you the same way, or rushes into it much to quickly, it's best to leave it.
If it's love, you both will make an effort to keep the relationship going while respecting boundaries and will not have the desire to cheat or have other intimate relationships in the meantime.
Nah, that’s being pathetic. You have to go slow and have fun with it, you don’t take things seriously until you learn more about the other person’s intentions and personality. You sound very naive to jump deep too quickly and then end up bitter because of your mistake.

I've had multiple crushes before, but when I fell in love for the first time, I knew it.
It wasn't love at first sight, but we had this deep connection and trust from the beginning that caused us to skip the small talk and go straight to personal likes, dislikes, dreams and thoughts on certain topics.
Whenever our conversations ended, I was saddened by it, but I was able to look forward to the next time we would meet in person to continue.
We had our similarities, but also obvious differences that I wouldn't normally overlook, but in this case I found myself curious and asking questions about why he liked a certain genre of movie or music and I ended up privately listening to an album he sent me and two whole sets of movies he was interested in even though I didn't care much for the first set of movies.
We eventually could read each other like a book and could tell when the other was upset and do our best to help without overstepping or prying.
There was never any jealousy or rivalry between us and we respected the other's personal life and friendships.
I didn't realize I was in love until I thought about it, but I realized it had been for a while and it was very obvious that something was going on from his side as well.
A misconception people have who don't understand love is they assume you can just walk away from it like any other relationship if one of you is taking it slow, and if you refuse to move on and find someone else, they think you're obsessed with him or her and call it unhealthy.
Love isn't an obsession, it's a choice.
As much as I accepted and respected him and as deep as our bond was, I didn't fully fall in love until I considered and thought through some very obvious barriers such as our age gap, what others would think about us together, and the fact that if it was a lasting relationship, I would probably have to go through the criticism of family members and possible death of a spouse at a seemingly early age for me. It was not an easy decision, but once it was made, I was confident in my mind that it was right and have no doubt in my mind and no need to revisit that and since then, any hurdle was much easier.
We've gone through at least four trials since we met about four or five years ago and if it was a crush, our relationship would have ended long ago, but it remains stronger than before and we've never lost our sense of trust or ability to communicate any problems.

Love starts with attraction and infatuation. Love is a choice not a feeling to describe. We can’t base everything off of feelings
I disagree with the fact you’ve stated that love starts with infatuation. I can understand that it starts with attraction and connection based off similar values, interests and lifestyles but while love is patient and can last an age, infatuation wears off very quickly and that’s when you hear couples saying “ the spark faded” because it’s not love and it’s not patient enough to last long. I totally agree with you on love being a choice, when you’re able to look beyond one’s flaws and still choose to stay with them regardless. Love takes time but these days everyone wants to be drunk with the so called “spark” which usually fades around 18 months only.

Honestly mine is both infatuation and love, like we liked each other 4 years ago but we grew apart and now we don’t even talk but I still like her.
it happened to me too. it started with massive infatuation and we would push and pull often, but in a very calm and non hurtful manner. after I moved to another city we somehow kept in touch and became like pen pals and it was amazing. eventually moved back and.. starting to shift the infatuation to love. I never knew this was possible.. maybe just get interested in what she's up to nowadays? :)

But in all seriousness thank you for shedding light on this, I've been in two relationships and both times I thought I was with the love of my life, but I was constantly jealous if I wasn't the center of their attention, I constantly worried the would find someone better, I worried whenever I couldn't talk to them. it sent me into a downward spiral of jealousy, depression, and self-loathing. In my illusion that was infatuation I was the most possessive boyfriend I could imagine, always hated it if they would dare spend time with another guy, if they dared talk about any good about another guy. I would always compare myself to other guys because I was so scared of losing that girl, I felt as though I needed to take care of them in order to love them. Everything I did was clouded by emotion, while in school my grades plummeted because I was so focused on the person I was with. This has done a great deal of help for me and I just wanted to share my experiences with infatuation, it's not fun to say the least.

For those people who's under infatuation. Don't lose hope, if you heard this, you can always start to change your infatuated situation into what we call LOVE. You are aware that you are in infatuated situation, and gotta need to tell you that's good, it means you can change it and makes long-lived attraction to that someone to happen.
Be realistic in thoughts, when we love there is always care and affection will be there.

When you first met a person and mesmerized by their appearance then you will feel that infatuation, it always happens to me when someone crushing on me and when they try to smile and stare at me afterwards i feel the same thing towards them, Infatuation can make you feel confuse, you might have mix emotions you sometimes imagine things about you and her. So for me it will all start with infatuation then when both of you feel the same way it could lead to love. Because love will just grow by getting to know each other, loving their flaws and taking risk whatever it is as long as you still have each other.
