    Our Fringe Raptor just arrived yesterday, and I couldn’t be happier with the quality. I really like the tires and the ability to easily move it around. Have already had it outside in the backyard, in the garage, and in the living room.

    Maybe if there are enough comments, Fringe will realize that people are upset about the immediate price increase and change it back. I’m in the market for an air bike, and that small savings does make a difference in my decision making process. At the same price, there’s the part of me that knows the Echo bike has been put to the test for years and the durability is holding up.

      @@johnrallo7018 Since my original comment, I have purchased an Echo bike. I absolutely LOVE it and use it in some way every single workout. I couldn't imagine spending any more for something like the Raptor. I've even added the wind guard, turf tires, phone and bottle holders...and still way under what I would have spent on the FS bike.

    I keep hearing about the advantages of a belt drive over a chain drive. I was in the market for a new air bike 2 weeks ago, so I dug in and did some research of my own. Let me preface this with personally owning a Schwinn Airdyne AD4 for 14 years. This is a chain driven air bike. I never had an issue with this bike. I tightened the chain one time in 14 years. I wanted to upgrade to the Rogue Echo, but it isn't currently available. So as I said I researched, a lot. Generally speaking, yes the belt drive is very low maintenance. The chain drive will require some lubricating and possibly some tightening. The tightening is not, I repeat not due to "stretching" of the chain. The chain will wear some, this will cause some loosening of the chain. Tightening takes 2 minutes. I couldn't find anyone having issues with a chain popping any of the links. I did however find several reviews of people with high end belt drive bikes with belts that split in half. This wasn't just one obscure review, several people said their belts needed replacement . The commercial gym I go to has a Schwinn Airdyne AD6, the belt is constantly popping and slipping on the rollers. They previously had an Original Schwinn Airdyne AD2 for 20 years, the old gold air bike, chain driven, no issues with it. All that being said, I finally decided on the Assault Air Bike Classic and I'm happy with my choice.

    • @Sboarder-ul6cr
      @Sboarder-ul6cr 2 года назад

      Yeah, Coop way exaggerates the chain drive issue. These are some of the most neglected and beat up machines out there, and after decades they're still everywhere working perfectly fine.

    • @fredrichardson9761
      @fredrichardson9761 2 года назад

      Yeah, I was wondering about this. From a wear and tear perspective I would favor a chain over a belt. Yes it might need a little more maintenance, but it should be less prone to failure. I mean bikes have been using chains for a long time...

    We tackled assembling the bike as a family project. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxzg0clhbtRf2gGxPkVETFKJJKGqdsorQu The package is heavy, but I have 2 teen boys that were able to move it. The written instructions were great- we didn't need to watch the videos, but it was good knowing that the option was there if we needed it. After we were able to get it set up, the boys each rode 3 miles and I rode 8 and the bike stayed quiet. The display is easy to reset, and you can put it on whichever setting you are using (time, distance, calories, etc). I will say that my butt is a little sore from the seat, but that could be because I haven't rode in a while. While it is comfortable for me, it was not comfortable with the seat position for my friend (could not move the seat back far enough and he slightly looked like a kid riding a tricycle that he had outgrown). He also said that the seat hurt his manly parts. We are going to look for a different seat that will be compatible with this bike for him.I did purchase the Wahoo Cadence sensor and strapped it to the crank of one of the pedals. This will sync with my Apple Watch, iPhone and will import data in to my Health app. Wahoo does have other sensors available other than cadence. I can also keep either my phone or my iPad on the display and they both feel pretty secure.

    I got chance to work on one of these and I will say that they’re nice. But as far as fit and finish on certain attributes they are left to be undesirable. I like how Rogue looks at their fit and finish. Not to say that they’re the best. I have other pieces of equipment from other retailers but I will say that they do make a good product for the most part. This may have all the attributes and then some of all the other bikes put together but they were just elements that I personally didn’t care for and number one was some of the plastic and caps on everything it seems like. And some of the adjustment points to me felt a little chintzy. Time will definitely tell on how well this thing works but until then I will enjoy my rogue bike.

      Prices went up with Fringe again most likely because they moved to a bigger warehouse. They sent out an email a few months ago saying they were increasing prices because of inflation etc. Hard times like everyone else blah, blah, blah. They kept prices low for the sake of the customer almost "to long". Insinuating it was hurting their bottom-line, they were losing money. They also reduced their discounts. Used to be flash sales were 20-50% off. Now, they are 5%. Sometimes 10%. Then last month (surprise, surprise) business is booming & they had a moving sale. Moving to a much bigger warehouse because they've expanded and grown so much. Now prices are up again.🙄
      The flip from one side to the other in a couple months. Yeah, no. I send their emails to the spam folder now.

    Hey there, is there any crossfit bike with handles like airbikes... But uses magnetic flywheel system (like an elliptical). Airbikes are loud when you go hard.

    • @stevephla
      @stevephla 2 года назад

      I own both a Lifecycle GX (magnetic resistance) and a Rogue Echo Bike. I love the smooth quiet operation of the GX for steady state endurance rides. But it fails a bit as an intense interval trainer, as magnetic resistance is not nearly as responsive as air to big power fluctuation. You can actually “get ahead” of the eddy current resistance in a way that air resistance won’t allow. It won’t “push back” against your sprint the way it should.

    If you think a belt drive means less maintenance then you need to compare automotive timing belts to automotive timing chains. Chains last almost twice as long as belts before they need replacing. I've had chains on bicycles for decades so I'm wondering who is having so much trouble with them?

    Coop-
    With all of these products that are basically the same price and similar product, at a certain point you need to test against one another as far as accuracy. You can get a pedal that reads power and test each of their watt readout compared to what it claims and then against one another as far as time it takes to produce calories at specific rpm’s. You are the only one with access to all of these to do this.
