Donald Pleasance's performances are always great in these movies. Imo he always gave these films a real legitimacy & weight that other slasher films never came close to.
So true. Pleasance gives the films a certain gravitas. His presence is part of what give the first two films their merit and worth. It's interesting, because Carpenter approached Christopher Lee before Donald Pleasance, and Lee turned him down. When Halloween eventually became a big deal (word of mouth, critical praise, video rental sales, etc), Lee said to Carpenter something like "I made a big mistake in not taking that role".

the writing of the opening scene offers so much depth and character to this film that all of its sequels and just about every other slasher film is lacking. there was something unique about this production that made it head and shoulders above everything else in its genre.
my favorite scene out of the whooooole franchise is that moment and when Loomis says "he's waiting." and the doctor responding with just those simple words "....for what?" For me that was the scene that foreshadowed the movie and the sequels that followed, each one all going back to the night of 1978 and opening all the different kinds of branches of story arcs, the Thorne trilogy timeline, the H20 timeline, and now the final timeline. Loomis couldn't tell but everyone knew that it all had to do with his destiny

@SgtBaker16 but if John Carpenter had not made her Michael Myers Sister then what would have been the point of breaking out and going after Laurie in the Orginal Halloween and Halloween 2?
I love these TV version scenes! I specially love the last one with Lynda and Laurie. I can't get enough of that trio of friends, they are as fun and quotable as the 1974 Black Christmas sorority sisters: with Lynda being akin to Barb, Laurie being Jess, and Annie being similar to Phyl. I also like the scene that foreshadows the sister reveal in Part 2.
I know it was shot two years after the film, but the first scene feels like it would have helped the original version. While it doesn’t flesh out Michael Myers, because the character really isn’t meant to be fleshed out, it gives some perspective on Loomis. With the slight revision of putting the title card as 1968 or 69 instead of 64. In addition to that making the clothes and haircuts more period appropriate, it could establish that a good deal of time has passed since the murder (Michael looks around 10 or 11 in this scene, instead of 6 when the killing happened), and Loomis is picking up on the time bomb that is slowing preparing to go off.

Not deleted. Filmed in 1981 during the making of H2. Extra scenes to make the TV version 2 hours long. Also tv version deleted the brief sex scene with Linda & Bob even though it was in 15 seconds or so😂
These scenes weren't cut from the original film. They were shot during the filming of Halloween 2 so when the film aired on TV, they could cut the violent stuff and put this in.
And I discovered that it isn't part of a real song, it was made up impromptu by Debra Hill and Jamie while shooting the original Halloween, so that music rights would not need to be paid to a musician/music studio.
The thing I don’t get is 6:40 you see he wrote sister but in the 2018 movie which is an alternate sequel to the original movie Laurie wasn’t his sister
@@Jamzy91 These scenes were added 3 years later They’re not truly part of the movies they’re just fun additions made to the extended cut that don’t really count for much
6:50 a scene referencing Michael being Laurie’s brother. So if Carpenter decided to pull a George Lucas and add these scenes to all future Halloween copies then H2018 couldn’t have retconned the sister thing. Also another interesting thing is this is technically Michael talking.
0:04-3:36 Even if Dr. Loomis were to say to those two "All I mean to say is that Michael Myers needs to be put under tighter security. I know for a fact that his catatonic behavior is just a ruse. He's just waiting to break out and go on a killing spree.", they wouldn't have taken him seriously. If they had, it'd be like: "What do you suggest? Guards outside his door and patrolling the perimeter?". Dr. Loomis responds "That would be great for starters. I mean, if you had spent as much time with him as I have, you'd see that there is something very inhuman about him; all day, all night, he just sits in his room, staring at the wall, not seeing the wall, looking past it."
I always thought these were in the movie cause I had the extended version DVD one with Michael holding a knife up at head height on the cover, and only when I saw it in theaters did I see they weren’t there

I'm personally glad these were excised. The film is concentrated, beautiful and dreamlike. These scenes are too static and mundane and would have diluted the effect.
Yes, Good eye! Annie's scene is filmed in the room that will become Nancy's (not the studio set). But the scene's where Nancy is looking out her window. Neat huh!
zachary cooke This was put in for the first time ever on NBC as the television version in 1981, it should’ve actually been in the movie as 1978 when it first appeared. This part gives me the chills but is awesome it’s apart of it!
The most interesting thing I'm going to see in Halloween kills is a friend of John Carpenter's who has been in several of his films and that man is Charles cyphers and believe it or not I haven't seen Charles cyphers since Escape From New York and the first two Halloween movies so it's going to be amazing to see him again after so many years but there's also been rumors that some of Laurie's friends or perhaps the people that were attacked by Michael Myers may have survived and might be able to help Lori now according to the recording from dr. Samuel lumos from 1978 or 1979 Loomis was no longer Michael's psychiatrist after Michael was apprehended by Deputy Frank Hawkins and it was also said that Sheriff Leigh Brackett retired back in 1981 after the tragic loss of his daughter when she was attacked by Michael Myers in 1978 and when his wife divorced him blaming him for the entire thing however the timeline changed and it's very possible that sure bracket has come back to Haddonfield because he wants to finish off Michael Myers as does the entire town now that they know that Michael Myers is still alive according to dr. Samuel Loomis the recommendation from Michael Myers is that he has to be terminated shot of sodium thiopental would possibly render him unconscious and Loomis was planning to after the shot was given to Michael he would put his gear over his chest to make sure that Michael's heart has completely stuff and once it has stopped his body is to be incinerated and has he finally stated in the end of the recording it needs to die because the person that has haunted Haddonfield less than 4 decades was not a man it looks like a man but it wasn't and even according to dr. Loomis from Halloween 4 the return of Michael Myers he stated that Michael was not an ordinary prisoner he stated him as an evil I hope that everything changes in Halloween kills because now it's not just 3 people who survived that tragic night almost two years ago we hope that every person in Haddonfield grabs every weapon possible and beat Michael Myers to death long enough for Laurie or somebody to give him the shot of sodium thiopental
They didn't listen to his doctor this is the best example of eff around and find out. They effed around and unfortunately innocent people had to find out.
Despite these scenes clearly trying to set up the plot revelation from Halloween 2 I still feel like it could be canon in h40 since we know that Michael targets women who look like his sister Judith, meaning all that's on his mind at all times is reliving the moment he killed his sister
The medical board meeting with Dr Loomis and after Michael myers escapes Loomis has an idea were Michael myers is going. These were the only two scenes I liked in the TV cut.
9-9-20 Since "SISTER" is carved in Michael Myers's room, it seems that the "Laurie Strode is the sister of Michael Myers", was always in the story since part 1. I was disappointed that 2018 removed that from canon, unless shes still secretly his sister and its going to be revealed in the next movie.
It was suppose to be one and done as John Carpenter said himself. The original title being "The Babysitter Murders" with a human that has a SLIGHT supernatural edge stalks and kills random teenage girls. It later became Halloween thanks to a friend of Carpenter. Once the success of this, studio execs demanded a sequel which meant further explanation on death/retconning and things fell into place like this that made halloween eventually go the cult route.
Thank you both for the information. I had always been more of a Jason Voorhees guy (hes been my favorite since I was a kid), so Im learning more about Michael Myers. I actually like Michael Myers to have a supernatural durability and strength, a lot more than the normal human but "crazy psychopath" aspect. And now I like Michael Myers as much as I like Jason Voorhees. Michael being the original.
2:27 If Dr. Loomis had said "To break out and go on a killing spree.", what are the chances the two administrators would've considered increasing security around Michael? They probably would've responded "Are you sure? He doesn't look like the type who would commit mass murder."
IDK Looms gives up on him within 6 months, where as in the movie it's 8 years. the latter is more effective and not jumping the gun. glad they took all these scenes out
It wasn't deleted. It was added. These were all filmed in 1981 at the request of NBC, who purchased the broadcast rights. About 11 minutes of footage had to be cut due to network censorship, and they requested 11 minutes of replacement footage be filmed.
How would Annie know someone was creeping around Laurie's back yard? There would have to have been another phone conversation after the one we saw. Laurie's house interior also doesn't match up at all with the outside we see, with the elevated enclosed porch. It's all padding that wasn't thought through too well, but the actresses all seem to have found their characters again very easily and pulled it off.
When you watch the full movie in order with these added scenes, they still have the original "chewing" phone call first when she sees him out the window. This convo is a short while after that one.

the writing of the opening scene offers so much depth and character to this film that all of its sequels and just about every other slasher film is lacking. there was something unique about this production that made it head and shoulders above everything else in its genre.
THANK YOU!
my favorite scene out of the whooooole franchise is that moment and when Loomis says "he's waiting." and the doctor responding with just those simple words "....for what?" For me that was the scene that foreshadowed the movie and the sequels that followed, each one all going back to the night of 1978 and opening all the different kinds of branches of story arcs, the Thorne trilogy timeline, the H20 timeline, and now the final timeline. Loomis couldn't tell but everyone knew that it all had to do with his destiny
I wonder if Michael's parents visited him? Scenes like this always has asking more questions.
actually even after he killed his sister his parents still loved him and wanted to find a cure for his "sickness". They would visit him but after 2 years they had a car accident and died.
@@vkooksbaby5669 Is that from the novelization?
@@toonandy2189 I'd like to see that, because between "Vkooks baby"'s unverified post and yours...there is ALOT to be answered for...
@@toonandy2189 Well thank you for that!!, that's great! To go too much past the OP's question would take the mystique away though, after all its the unanswered that is what makes this movie a legend.
@@vkooksbaby5669 I thought he killed them too, it was said at the beginning of Halloween the curse of Michale Myers that at six Michael killed nearly his entire family.
Young little Michael Myers is sitting in that Chair staring out the Window thinking when I turn 21 I am breaking out of here and Stealing a Stationwagon car and Driving The Hell away from here to go after my Sister Laura Lol
@SgtBaker16 but if John Carpenter had not made her Michael Myers Sister then what would have been the point of breaking out and going after Laurie in the Orginal Halloween and Halloween 2?
I wonder if he knew he only had to be 16 to drive the station wagon?
@@bigeherb lol
This scene spoke volume. Really helped outline the pure evil and viciousness of Michael Myers
Love the orange benches, the color of the walls and the Autumn colors Loomis is wearing.
These should have been in the theatrical cut. Especially the scene with Michael Myers staring out the window just waiting.

Your name tagline photo is the beautiful Sharon Tate!
@@gkroll8467 agree too....jamie lee curtis get,s praise she does not deserve ....let,s be honest ....you could have cast any other woman in her role and got the same results ....the stars in this film are micheal / donald / film crew
The 📺 version was the 1st version I saw as a kid. Then when I bought it on 📼 cassete from Blockbuster I was wondering what happened to these scenes
I always used to wonder why I thought there were skipped scenes whenever I pulled out our old VHS copy of this film- now I know it's because I first saw the TV version!!
So this house which is shown as lauries house interior is the actual interior of the house in a nightmare on elm street! Nancy’s house
Wow! Did not know that
Kevin Schumacher yeah look at the sides of the door and above the door, windows are all the same
@@raymondlanglands cool to know
Thought it looked a little familiar
They should have TOTALLY put these scenes in here😂. In all seriousness tho, even tho they were minor, I still feel like they added to the story for all the main characters
Not deleted. Filmed in 1981 during the making of H2. Extra scenes to make the TV version 2 hours long. Also tv version deleted the brief sex scene with Linda & Bob even though it was in 15 seconds or so😂
The brown walls with orange tables and chairs look eerie af.
Lol Halloween colors which is kind of cool.
These scenes weren't cut from the original film. They were shot during the filming of Halloween 2 so when the film aired on TV, they could cut the violent stuff and put this in.
Dr. Loomis, is the best futurn teller. He saw the future of what Michael, was going to do .and dr.loomis, was right..
I love how it shows sister on the door. Laurie, take cover 😂
Really great, only thing I would of done different was give Loomis a wig for the flashback scenes.
The song at the end that Laurie is singing is the same one she sings in one of the Halloween 2018 trailers
And I discovered that it isn't part of a real song, it was made up impromptu by Debra Hill and Jamie while shooting the original Halloween, so that music rights would not need to be paid to a musician/music studio.
Buddy
The thing I don’t get is 6:40 you see he wrote sister but in the 2018 movie which is an alternate sequel to the original movie Laurie wasn’t his sister
@@Jamzy91
These scenes were added 3 years later
They’re not truly part of the movies they’re just fun additions made to the extended cut that don’t really count for much
Nicely done 👍
I always thought these were in the movie cause I had the extended version DVD one with Michael holding a knife up at head height on the cover, and only when I saw it in theaters did I see they weren’t there
It took 8 years to reach him but the hospital scene makes it seems he thinks Michael is evil in 6 months
Tyler Rumfelt He was already evil before he arrived
INDLIS no shit
I think the scenes with Dr.Loomis add to the film.
The scene with Lauri and her friends is not something I’m sad we don’t get.
Next time they release another anniversary edition they should have it as an anniversary extended edition for DVD, Blu-Ray, and Digital with the deleted content added to the film
She kinda kept her promise
I mean *she* didn’t rip the blouse
the doctor on the right kinda looks like sartain
THATS WHAT I WAS THINKING😂😂
cause of those scenes i have bought the seperated dvd of halloween 1978 the extended tv cut version and i placed it together with my halloween 1978 original theatrical version dvd.
You can tell that these scenes were filmed later
Yeah Lynda's hair is shorter
They should have went back and remastered the original with these scenes man some are amazing in a sense
Aww man I wish they have more scenes in the original halloween that would be super great!! But I gotta love classic halloween forever because of michael myers
It may be for the best that this was not in the original cut. Holding off trial until adult age is ludicrously implausible.
I mean there’s no hard and fast rule on how long a trial can be held off
Unless you count statute of limitations in which if you wait too long to try the defendant then the trial can never happen but I’m fairly sure murder doesn’t have that (yet rape does, gotta love the contrived nature of the American law system)
I'm personally glad these were excised. The film is concentrated, beautiful and dreamlike. These scenes are too static and mundane and would have diluted the effect.
Carpenter didn't want to add them anyway. They were written and shot during the production of Halloween 2.
The 1st deleted scene is the only deleted scene worth adding to the original classic 💯🎃
Singing the song next to the door and windows. Next scene opens door with no windows to either side...lol. Yep definitely added scenes😂🏠🎃
Good eye!👍🏻
Wish we could get a Director’s Cut with these scenes reinserted. 😔
Believe its on the 35th anniversary edition?
These scenes give further information on what Michael Myers is and why dr looks is is so determined to keep him locked up
The house that is supposed to be the Strodes was also used in Nightmare on Elm Street as Nancy’s house
Yes, Good eye! Annie's scene is filmed in the room that will become Nancy's (not the studio set). But the scene's where Nancy is looking out her window. Neat huh!
2 completely different houses
@@tobiasreed6358 Oh, damn, there went my thought. Thank you for replying.
The scene with doctors would be good in original release, rest isnt needed.
I watched a very spectacular horror movie in '95
Don't understand why they took this out
zachary cooke it was added in not taken out
Didn't they only film these bits a couple of years later?
zachary cooke This was put in for the first time ever on NBC as the television version in 1981, it should’ve actually been in the movie as 1978 when it first appeared. This part gives me the chills but is awesome it’s apart of it!
zachary cooke right, they should of kept it in the film it’s a classic!
zachary cooke because they didnt have the budget to put it in
The most interesting thing I'm going to see in Halloween kills is a friend of John Carpenter's who has been in several of his films and that man is Charles cyphers and believe it or not I haven't seen Charles cyphers since Escape From New York and the first two Halloween movies so it's going to be amazing to see him again after so many years but there's also been rumors that some of Laurie's friends or perhaps the people that were attacked by Michael Myers may have survived and might be able to help Lori now according to the recording from dr.
Strange. I do remember the TV cut having extra scenes, but I don't remember them being this long.
I wished they added these scenes in the movie
I am BEGGING you to reconsider.
9-9-20
Since "SISTER" is carved in Michael Myers's room, it seems that the
"Laurie Strode is the sister of Michael Myers", was always in the story since part 1. I was disappointed that 2018 removed that from canon, unless shes still secretly his sister and its going to be revealed in the next movie.
These were filmed for the TV version while they were filming Halloween 2 the ONLY reason they shot these were to add time
It was suppose to be one and done as John Carpenter said himself.
Michael being the original.
lyndas a queen
we need a tv version on 4K 😃
Dr Wayne was there a few times in the storyline Halloween 1978 - 1989 & 1995
Well now we have the blouse origin story ..
The first two scenes are awesome. Catatonic Michael is far scarier than Rob Zombies gobby version of young Michael. Rob made Michael too human.
Tv scenes of Halloween 1978 movie aka deleted scenes
Some sweet trivia but did you know that Laurie's house was shot at the same house that was used in Nightmare on Elm Street
Yup and you walk around the block and the Meyers House is there, love living in South Pas.💕
2:27 If Dr. Loomis had said "To break out and go on a killing spree.", what are the chances the two administrators would've considered increasing security around Michael? They probably would've responded "Are you sure? He doesn't look like the type who would commit mass murder."
Psalms 37:11
But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
IDK Looms gives up on him within 6 months, where as in the movie it's 8 years. the latter is more effective and not jumping the gun. glad they took all these scenes out
Added them in to the TV version, you mean.
This scene should have never been deleted from the original movie.
It wasn't deleted. It was added.
These were all filmed in 1981 at the request of NBC, who purchased the broadcast rights.
About 11 minutes of footage had to be cut due to network censorship, and they requested 11 minutes of replacement footage be filmed.
@Jarred Knox relax Francis not everyone knows they we’re filmed 3 years later🙄🎃
Not deleted
Is it possible to get these scenes with the film on dvd or blu ray?
I believe its on the 35th anniversary DVD
How would Annie know someone was creeping around Laurie's back yard? There would have to have been another phone conversation after the one we saw. Laurie's house interior also doesn't match up at all with the outside we see, with the elevated enclosed porch. It's all padding that wasn't thought through too well, but the actresses all seem to have found their characters again very easily and pulled it off.
When you watch the full movie in order with these added scenes, they still have the original "chewing" phone call first when she sees him out the window. This convo is a short while after that one.
So his initials are MAM?
Michael audrey Myers. Carpenter now doesnt believe audrey is the middle name but too much alcoholism is to blame for that
@MrBenjy1991 Now think of the theme song LOL ,
MAM mam mam MAM mam mam MAM mam MAAAAMmmmm.
Yes, Ma'am!
I could've sworn I saw a version where they mentioned Michael's full name as Michael Orville Myers, MOM. Maybe I was wrong.
I actually am glad these didn’t make the cut. It gives Michael to much personality, and takes away from the theme of evil.
