With the direction TPOT is getting, I’d agree. TPOT was promised to be the one season to focus on character storylines, but ever since Satomi left the writing team after TPOT 2, the season just became a better version of post split, which is obviously better than bfb post split, but not as good as what TPOT could have been with what was promised to us when the season was introduced.

The purpose of TPOT seems non-existent now.
I'm not trying to be mean but BFB Pre-Split is a LOT better than BFB Post-Split and TPOT combined. That's just my opinion.
I was kind of concerned about this when I watched TPOT, too. But Cary said that TPOT was supposed to be a very long season, a saga, as he put it. So maybe the writers are just waiting for the right time to start developing their characters?

It feels like TPOT with it's large cast should have been the light hearted series with quick uploads and Post Split should have been the story driven show with a better animation and longer uploads because of it's smaller cast, that way both shows could end a a reasonable time
I agree with what you said about how TPOT is slowly losing sight of its original purpose, but i think it can be (somewhat) saved. After all, the crew have been taking feedback on certain characters (examples being fries, TV, and ice cube getting more screentime in TPOT 5), so they are listening to the community. Another thing that has been happening is the faster releases of the new episodes, even being on par with the rate that post splits episodes released. I will be honest, i didnt really mind the months gap between TPOT 1-3 too much, since to me it felt somewhat justified(since TPOT 2 is one of the longest episodes of a bfdi series). I feel like instead of taking time to write character interactions & story arcs that go throughout the season, the team is prioritizing having more episodes released sooner(strange, i thought that was reserved for post split?). You can definitely tell how satomi leaving the writing team affected the show's writing. (sorry if this is long)
TPOT's release schedule is 1-2 months. Not even comparable to post-split BFB's 3 weeks. It's clear they're taking a bit more time with TPOT.

Tpot's okay, but I feel like they tried to purposely derail the popular characters, just so they could make the unpopular characters seem good or even better then those characters, also.just a quick note. Cary even said that he didn't like the way Pin was starting to act in tpot.
a ton of people were complaining about characters having no personality and jack&jellify listened and actually gave them screen time and a personality. i dont think they're derailing popular characters, they're just giving background characters the spotlight for once imo

Pillow was always my second least favourite character in Dpact and I was always like “she would be so much better if she had more screen time” or “she’s only good in the five seconds she can be seen in each episode” now she’s probably my favourite character on just not.
The same that happened in post split look once iconic characters like Taco, Leafy, Flower or Bubble had been downgraded in post split.
Judging by how they actively leak DPA (3 times already lost), it sounds true
TPOT is starting to feel formulaic.
Episode starts with characters messing around before Two does Cake at Stake. Each elimination has each character be sad for 3 seconds before going and ultimately being inconsequential. Challenges primarily involve contestants travelling elsewhere to gather or create something. Have characters be written without strong personalities so they're easy to write for when they all blend together. Ignore plot beats that were set up in previous episodes. Repeat.

@@cordyceps7531 it's a coding joke, and I just think that when you said that, it personally hurt me, because maybe it's just a coincidence that those repetitive cliches happen everyday, because you know, they have like crunch time. Hopefully next challenge they don't go anywhere or collects something, and every contestant that doesn't know the eliminated contestant that's unnecessary sad.

I am honestly disappointed with how the writers are handling this show. So I have to agree.. - Apparently Cary himself said TPOT was going to be focusing on long, concentrated story arcs and interactions between the characters. But no, that’s not what happened after TPOT 2. They killed off many characters the very second Satomi was off the team. Many bad decisions were made, including deciding to spend off the GB and PB arc with a simple apology, characters like naily, eggy, remote (not to mention the horrendous tpot 7 voting results) getting axed off, having TV rob fries and get him eliminated bc of his stupid popularity after tpot 5 + the strongest team on earth FORGETTING there was a traitor on their team in a split second, Death P.A.C.T Again being set up to FAIL, etc. And, yes, I am aware that JNJ made a video explaining their end about all of this, saying they want to keep BFDI the way it was before. WELL NICE GOING, BECAUSE I DON’T THINK IT’S WORKING NOW, IS IT? If only they could make a mixture of well-written story arcs and char development + goofed, out of context moments. Heck, THAT SOUNDS PERFECT! I really hope they listen to this feedback… because they did not keep their end of the bargain on this one.

This means that TPOT 7 will probably be the best episode because of the EXITors, Winner and Clock scene and possible Loser Return.
I have a feeling that the "complex narratives" that BFDI was about and TPOT was missing might come in TPOT very soon. I think that the first few episodes are more simple and light-hearted to mimic how BFB started. Remember that BFB at the start had simpler plots, but did establish things that would come later on in the series like the breakup of Freesmart. Eventually the series became more mature with it's characters and relationships. TPOT also includes things like that, with lots of old nostalgic things coming back. So I guess its only a matter of time before things take a bit of a darker turn.
I think it’s possible. BFB 2-4 were probably some of the weakest episodes in pre split, but in BFB1 we already see things happen like pencil and match treating their members poorly and manipulating bubble. TPOT 1 started pretty strong but then cooled down, so maybe it will go up soon? Definitely worth a thouht😊

@@ayten-linux I don't think it's because they wanted earlier episodes to be light hearted like the main comment said tho. IIRC TPOT7 was written by Michael Huang and many believe that he saw fan's complaints with TPOT 4-6.
A lot of people will think I’m over exaggerating, however BFB pre split is not just my favourite object show, but my favourite show of all time, despite it just being a YT original. I don’t think there’s been a show I loved more than it. It was chaotic, had a lot of characters and everyone felt so different, and I don’t think there’s many shows that can have a cast size of 50+ characters (saying 64 wouldn’t rlly be fair with one leaving roughly every episode) and not feel like things overlap. The split actually really hurt me despite not affecting many others. I thought TPOT could give what I still wanted, but I have many issues such as
1. We still lost 14 people at once
2. The teams broke when more than half of them only lost one member, and I feel like they could’ve still done so much
3. The humour falls really flat. I understand that no joke in TPOT expects us to roll on the floor in laughter, but a lot of them hardly affect me. BFDI and BFDIA had way better humour, BFB pre split was still better, just not as good as the first two seasons
4. The story also falls flat. I’m not really looking forward to story in object shows, I mostly watch cause I like seeing so many things happen and creative ideas getting put into play in terms of challenge ideas and how contestants solve them. But a few arcs here gives more depth to the storyl it feels like each character has their own problems, goals and relationships with other characters. It gives the chance for contestants who never talked to each other to get to interact. TPOT just doesn’t have that. It’s an enjoyable show, but a lot of things that happen don’t matter in the grand scheme of things.

I feel like TPOT should focus on long story arcs and characters later in the season than now, think about it, if theres long arcs later then since there will be a lot less contestants the arcs will play a role in every episode because if theres more people during arcs then characters would have to get ignored for the arc to not get over shadowed by the amount of characters, remember TPOT only has around 20 contestants less than pre split bfb.

i like the newer, more casual episodes of tpot. however, it is upsetting to see how many character arcs that were barely explored forgotten in the newer episodes. it seems like the writers completely forgot about the exitors.

I think some people are forgetting that, while a great writer, Satomi was extremely nitpicky with ideas and storylines, and had she been a bit less demanding, we could've had both shorter episode gaps (1 1/2-3 months) and more fulfilled episode plots. Stuff like the EXITors, Book justifying any slight annoyance to make up for her Taco hatred, the whole obsessive Clock and Winner arc (which only continued for one more episode), and even earlier plots like Eggy and Teardrop, all could've continued if there was better team interaction.
So basically
TPOT 7 is probably story-driven because of the EXITors and I think they’re trying to wrap up the Clock and Winner arc. But I also have thoughts that there will be more things happening like Bubble and Ruby being mentioned, Loser Returns to see Winner and etc.
I can summarize TPOT in a couple words:

Yes it is, it needs some more eps to be considered to have somebreason so we know more about Two as an host and how will the characters interact this season.
While it is pretty fun so far, its problems have been increasing. With its style of challenges that are basic but take most of the episode, they should have ample time to bring in new arcs and character development, like its original purpose was.

Jokes aside, TPOT seems to have some interesting arcs, like Puffball and fries leaving Are You Ok? And Team 8s arguing a lot. Maybe Pin and Coiny could put their differences aside, and maybe GolfBall will struggle with everyone thinking she’s a bad leader. There’s a lot of potential, but it’s just brewing up now. I hope TPOT 6 onwards can fulfil Cary and Micheal’s promises.

So far I am enjoying TPOT but I also wish it does not lose sight of its goal. I don’t think it’s to late to fix this as we have at least 25 more episodes left of it( I did the math with the elimination). And at least TPOT 4 had a bit of world building. If they can’t manage to make TPOT A show with character arcs and such then they should at least take a page or 2 from BFDIA. Incorporating world building, mysteries, and perhaps a challenge or 2 that takes more then 1 video to complete.

Tbh I always looked forwards to impressive animation interesting and unique narratives from tpot, there are so many thing interesting with its world that they could dive into that they are not doing, with the animation aspect, sure its polished and smooth (the tweening part if that’s what its called?) but lowkey I was hoping for some sakuga or for them to try something new, like robot-floweys internal processing, or the exit 3d animation. That’s why I love bfb so much! Lately I’ve been more disappointed than excited or hyped, in tpot, the 3 points I was surprised was the intro, there the characters were going to end up after going thru the exit backdoor, and the cake at stake intro. I did notice higher quality in nuanced animation, but again that’s not rlly what excites me ngl-
In my opinion this was bound to happen as we seen with bfb as bfb started pretty light hearted at first but as the cast was too big and the episodes were getting more ambitious with their writing to the point we’re episodes were taking months on end instead of taking weeks.
The show was split in the first place to, 1 cater to the fans who either liked a more story driven show or a more classic Bfdi feel and 2 to finish off another season of Bfdi. But the problem with Tpot is the fact that it ran back into the issue bfb had, a huge cast and the ambition.
The team hasn’t really tackled these huge issues the best way. Just look at look at tpot 3-6 see how certain characters get way more screen talk for example the show crew has a huge bias with death pact and how their team gets a huge amount of screen time but another team like team 8s get barely any time at all which leads to people voting them out for being bland. They really need to fix this bias problem as it plagued post split and I don’t want it to happen to tpot.
Then there the ambitious writing as this is the main reason why the first 3 tpot episodes took 3 years to come out and honestly the wait wasn’t as worth it as I feel like a lot of aspects of tpot 1 and (especially tpot 2) were lackluster. One thing is the challenges in tpot 1 and 2 were really boring like tpot 3-6 made interesting challenges than tpot 2 stack blocks like that challenge was just so basic any thing else would have been more interesting. I feel like the fact the tpot 1 and 2 had a bigger focus on more characters gave others aspects of the show a backseat.
In the end if we want to see another season of Bfdi to end the story and arcs are going to have to take a smaller as we seen that with late pre split and tpot 1 and 2, I’m not saying the current direction is the best to go but I’m saying the we need a balance with story and wacky shenanigans because as of right now I see to sides to this coin people not liking tpot 1-2 and favoring 3-6 and vice versa.

The overall problem is the efficiency of the crew in general. Splitting BFB up into Two shows, and we got a fast post-split BFB that had an awful story (heck, why didn't Loser appear on stage in BFB 29???) that makes me never want to rewatch it again, and a quality TPOT that would have lasted until Cary's 50s.
The fact that TPOT 2 took 1.5 years to release means they basically learned nothing from the BFB 12/13 situation, in which I was also there.
You should make a video how both of teardrop’s eliminations (BFDI and BFB) were rigged.

The writing in bfb post split was burning garbage, worst season ever probably. It doesn’t convey the goofy and wild nature of bfb 1-13. Four lost his entire personality, or as I should put it, gained a personality. Four used to be this mysterious all powerful figure that could deform in weird ways and just make something appear for no reason given, same thing with killing too. Now, he’s just a blank figure, his personality is so generic, as all the other contestants are as well. LIKE LITERALLY, IN BFB POST SPLIT NONE OF THE CHARACTERS HAVE AN DIFFERENT PERSONALITY, LIKE, AT ALL.
Post split is the 2nd best season. Four getting an actual personality is better than having him be random for the whole season.

On my first watch through of BFDI, I actually refused to watch TPOT for a good year or so because I just liked BFB more and I felt it didn’t need a split in any way.

ive watched tpot so many times, it isnt my favourite but I dont think its overrated. its because its the current season on jacknjellify.

TPOT is just boring to me. I watched some episodes, and the characters, challenge, and the entire plot were just bland. Plus, the characters are just becoming worse, which is something that's been present since BFB. Honestly, I Think TPOT is just another BFB, but more forgettable, imo.

I feel like post split has way better writing than TPOT, so many characters in TPOT became absolutely nonexistent, Donut does nothing and Fries became a shell of his former self until TPOT 5 and then he got out. Any arc or character writing that was set up in TPOT 1-2 got thrown out like Eggy and TD and now Eggy is out. I feel like after Satomi left the team, not a single meaningful interaction ever happens, it doesn't even get acknowleded who gets out, character's just simply do not show any emotion or react in any way shape or form. Also with Four and X returning in TPOT 6 and hurting contestants, this goes out against BFB 30's ending and makes everything feel irrelevant and pointless. Characters I used to like feel flat or a shell of what they used to be, and it upsets me, I can count the characters I genuinely care for on one hand. As a result for me it just feels like a worse post split that has better animation, at least post split eliminations and interactions felt important and led to something.

@maryjanedeguzman1973 I do! It fixed a lot of the issues I had with the show, the eliminations were impactful, and character plots continued, I think it was written extremely well and it's by far my favorite post-Satomi episode, I believe that TPOT is going in the right direction.
I think BFDI as a whole isn't good for it's arcs. TPOT wanted to be story driven, but it just wasn't fit for that kind of thing.

Tpot Is Cool, But it Is pretty overrated. Satomi was honestly a good writer, and I see the team did what they had to do.
I also see why the writing in TPOT 3, at least the beginning was wrong. I don’t know, but did the animation in the first parts of TPOT 3 feel wrong? I mean the lighting, I dunno.
TPOT is honestly my favorite season, but it sure ain’t the best 😂 that honor goes to Pre-Split BFB imo

Four gets all whiny that the contestants hate him despite the fact he literally tortures them, leafy is either really mean or really nice, Flower just feels to nice and you could tell there’s a bias, loser and spongy do nothing despite the fact that they’re the ones who would need more development, and Taco just turns into a Karen who yells at Blocky. Not to mention for me the season felt all over the place and flower didn’t deserve to win.

Yeah I really think the change from story driven to casual was really bad when I watch tpot 1 and 2 I really like the stories but now they just seem so childish like I know they want to return to the bfdi feeling but the only problem with that is that Michael and Cary aren’t 10 year olds anymore that’s the only reason why it doesn’t feel the same
I think they need to go back to the pre split writing style and specifically the pre split style,post split changed the characters so much that they didn’t feel the same especially four, x actually improved and started having a personality but four didn’t have the same humour and mystery they used to have.
The thing about pre split was the fact that it was so exciting the arcs,animation everything that was what kept everyone engaged like most of the best episodes came from pre split especially the whole lava saga
I still like tpot but I think if they go back to the story driven style it will make the season so much better

I actually think TPOT2 was very lacking in story, but it was acceptable because of how enjoyable it was to watch. It gave that same chaos as we see different teams do different things. It’s a rare “good filler”. Later episodes lack in story and while we do see different teams try different things, a lot of it feels meaningless.

@@DecidiousGreens A. Actually the contrary to that, It’s very annoying that episodes come out every 1.5 months. The episodes are rushed out to speed up the season which goes against the whole “polish, quality, and perfection” philosophy of the show. The double eliminations were already there so there’s no need to rush out episodes
B. The writing is awful. It feels like post split writing all over again because we have Sam and Cary writing the episodes. The episodes consist of weird interactions, unfunny jokes, characters acting out of character, loopholes, and just scenes that are simply terrible to watch (team8s in TPOT 5, the opening scene in TPOT 3, etc). Satomi and Pokey has really good writing and made the characters and plot interesting, but the new episodes just feel bland and generic.
C. Eliminations. The eliminations are handled so poorly. There is absolutely MINIMAL send off to the eliminated characters (like Bomby and Naily don’t say a word to each other, and Gaty doesn’t react to Saw’s elimination) so the cake at stakes are extremely forgettable. Imagine your favorite character gets eliminated and just says “I think you remoted it” and doesn’t talk to anyone else. Since 2 teams are UFE one cake at stake just ends and it goes right it to the next one like nothing happened so they feel even less impactful.
D. The entire point of the show is gone: The original point of TPOT was that an episode would only come out when it was ready, so that it would satisfy the fans who wanted high quality stuff. Post split Bfb was supposed to be the fast branch with poorer episodes to satisfy the people who wanted a fast turn around. However, Cary decided to just leave the fans who wanted high quality episodes in the dark in 2023. TPOT 3 and onwards have super rushed and lower quality episodes, and they share many similarities to post split Bfb. There is no good modern BFDI content for that people (myself included) who want good episodes with long waits. The irony that TPOT was supposed to be the high quality show, but now it’s pretty much lost all potential to be the best season.
E. Only being able to vote for one character out of 2 teams is pretty bad. One team just gets favored over the other completely and we get even MORE super close battles. The super close vote scenarios happen every episode and it’s so tiring.
F. Arcs that just start and stop abruptly. The clock and winner thing was never brought up again after TPOT 3, and the eggy and TD thing was also forgotten. Like…continue the arcs!!! But of course the writers have to reset everything each episode.
And more but I could go on and on lol
I’m pretty sure on Carykh or the BFDI channel Cary said that tpot is going to be more casual so yeah, the goal for tpot has changed but it would been better for most people

here’s my opinion:
as of tpot 7 and the week before tpot 8 I think they’ve improved on this issue
the winner and clock storyline continued, death pact arc started, strongest team on earth arc expanded, exitor arc continued. (finally) and tpot definitely has more arcs probably coming up and has potential for them, idk why they decided to make tpot (the one with more contestants) the “story driven” one but it works bc the new characters needed more anyways, in terms of personality development for characters the only of this we’ve seen has been WC arc DP arc TSTOE arc (with eggy and basketball and DEFINETLY robot flower) except uh eggys gone now. but it’s clear they’re looking at the fanbase’s thoughts with the ice cube lines and the exitors and the story development.

This is a weird question, because I've never seen a single person say that TPOT is good past the first episode. Everyone I know said that TPOT 2-5 has just been decent. So, at least to me, I thought that TPOT was underrated and I was one of few actively loving the episodes. So, I don't think TPOT is overrated, rather, it's falling into the same trap of Pre-Split BFB, just like IDFB and BFDIA before it. It got too ambitous for its own good, episodes took longer to make, so they simplified the premise and tried to have fun with it. I think eventually TPOT will continue to fall into this trap and release episodes way less frequently, causing people to go back to being confused and upset as to why episodes are taking so long, the cycle continues.
I think TPOT 6 will be alright, not perfect, but above average. And I know that that wasn't the original intention of the show, but let's be real, that was never meant to last, especially since TPOT has SO many characters. Plus, people change, intentions change, and ultimately, while it may not be the best, it still has its qualities and is way more worth watching than Post-Split (which i actually LIKE, btw).

TPOT 7, 8 and 9 improved on the issue, But I’m also concerned about it.
Like I know we got new arcs like Clock-Winner, RF-Basketball and Fanny-Black Hole. But I also think we get more like Pin arc, EXIT and One arc. I know it’s starting to improve more, Sam starting to be at Satomi’s level, Not only I don’t want them forgetting arcs, I also don’t want them to be extremely serious with it like II2-level of seriousness. Cuz that would not be enjoyable to watch for me.
They also need to mention some things the the Loser and Winner backstory from TPOT 1 or what Clock said in TPOT 7.

I honestly agree. The character arcs in TPOT are extremely boring, the pacing is terrible, there’s no recommended characters, and this whole animation style gets extremely stale. So the only thing that it would get interesting, is to wait for the finale. BFDIA on the other hand, uses a nostalgic style while also combining it with newer animation. The arcs are very nicely thought out, the pacing is consistent, there’s always animation improvements, there’s lots of recommended characters, and heck, they even added SHADERS! It will always be fun to watch, especially before the finale. So yeah, I don’t know what went wrong with TPOT, but whatever.

Tbh i think that tpot is... Weird. Personally i think its better than post split but worse than pre split. There were and are a lot of missed opportunities for character interactions and arcs. The pin arc is stupid asf, and nothing interesting is going on with the show now.
It feels like bfdi and i dont think that thats certainly good. Teardrop being added was a dumb choice, but is still somehow one of the best characters in tpot. A lot of characters were ruined ( *cough* pin). The only thing im intrested for tpot is the exit, and what is going on with winner.
I think there should be more arcs and the tpot should focus more on the story more than humor. The characters just have so much potential for arcs. I hope tpot changes in the later episoded

Yes, TPOT is overrated. Ever since Satomi got fired from writing, the TPOT episodes just feels like BFB post split but with slightly better animation. I heard that TPOT writing was going to be better than BFB but but it’s just like BFB writing. And most of the characters feels out of character too.

To be honest, I think they should get an actual storywriter on to the BFDI team. And I don't mean an object show creator, I mean someone who's worked on an actual cartoon. The BFDI looks like they don't know what to do and are just making these with a formula (which also isn't entertaining), so getting someone who has actually written a cartoon would be great.
